Didn't realize it's all "bar" seating if you are only 2 people. Honestly... didn't matter. The bar stools are extremely comfortable. Greeted by Jason ( Chef). Needed a cocktail to start. I got a simple vodka/soda. Husband got Green Fairy. A vodka based drink with absinthe and many more ingredients. Decided on the bao buns as our appetizer. Then we had the mussels with green curry sauce and the best bread ever!! Scallops with Polenta. Bottle of wine. Oh... and did I mention dessert? The Peaches with Bourbon and Ice cream. Honestly..... I have lived in AZ over 20 years . I've eaten at some on the best in the Valley I travel Internationally for a living. I can say... without a doubt.... This is one of the best restaurants. We went for the tomato board and let me say it did not disappoint - not one bit We also ordered the charcuterie board and the spinach and chicken dip I should have asked what the 5 cured meats were and that was my bad but the duck was excellent as well as the spreads The dip was delicious too It was warm inside but that was because the kitchen is an open style setting So we just asked to be moved away from it Our server was very nice and friendly and the food came out pretty quickly read more

This restaurant blew my fiancé and I away. The food was amazing. The combination of ingredients in each dish complement each other so well but also are very unique. The service was impeccable and we got to sit at the chefs counter which was a fun experience. The ambience can be either romantic or cozy for a family dinner. A true hidden treasure! Originally, we were trying to brunch at Fame, but it was very busy so we walked around and found this place. It's located in the same plaza. There was a food truck we ordered some pizzas from and you have to walk inside to order your drinks. I have to say the pizza is so bomb! It's a very simple pizza with cheese. However, from the crust to the sauce to the cheese, it was perfect. The crust was chewy, airy and crunchy. I do prefer this type of pizza dough. The sauce had a spicy kick that was very subtle. If you love organic local food made from scratch down to the ketchup then this place is for you! I love supporting local farms and I love supporting local produce. This restaurant changes their menu to be able to support seasonal ingredients. Everything, and I mean everything, down to the ketchup is made from scratch. They do not use any seed oils, they use olive oil and avocado oil and quality butter. The service was amazing, the owner was wonderful. Both my husband and I loved it. Phenomenal dining experience. A friend and I sat at the bar seating, overlooking the open kitchen. What a treat to watch the care the chefs take with preparing each dish. We had the roasted sunchoke, crispy gnocchi, beef bolognese, and a chocolate pie. We also had two drinks: the Viking and a mezcal drink (the name escapes me). Every dish and drink were great and we would highly recommend them all. The food is very rich and flavorful. The ordering process was interesting; when asking about different dishes the "chef" made comments like. "I wouldnt put it on the menu if it wasn't good" & " it's hot / sizzling". We are big foodies and were genuinely curious about the menu and were met with smart ass remarks. Also the food took forever, we had a group of 12 and like stated before made a reservation so they should have been prepared for a group that size. My wife and I rolled the dice and made a reservation last night for our anniversary, and we could not have made a better choice! This was hands-down one of the most fantastic meals we have had in the Phoenix area. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly, approachable staff, a charming and somewhat eclectic decor, and a relaxed overall vibe. While perhaps a bit noisy, the restaurant is laid out so that it doesn't feel crowded and it isn't terribly difficult to hold a conversation without feeling like you are competing with another table or group. We were initially seated with a window view of the outside patio, but the waitress was more than happy to move us to the kitchen-side area, so we could watch them cook. HIGHLY recommend sitting here, if you have the option! Food is clearly an art form here, and watching the way they lovingly prepare each dish is nothing short of mesmerizing. For our appetizer, we went for the AZ Tomato Board... I will admit, I was a bit skeptical, as "tomatoes" don't sound like an especially exciting appetizer, but OH MY GOD... Literally mind blowing! Heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes floated on a layer of Parmesan chili foam, fresh mozzarella with house-made pesto, pickled green tomatoes, tomato jam, fried garlic with kalamata olives, and grilled focaccia... absolutely incredible! For our entree we went with the Duck à l'orange, and again we were blown away. Half a roasted duck, with roasted fingerling potatoes, a decadent orange sauce, and a salad with a bright red-wine vinaigrette. It is abundantly clear that EVERY ingredient is the absolute best quality they can find, because literally nothing feels like "filler" on these plates. While the food is top-tier, they manage to do it in a way that doesn't feel pretentious or forced. The focus is TRULY on the ingredients and quality of the food, and not always "the looks". Portions are plentiful, and everything we saw come out of the kitchen is presented in a way that begs to be shared, savored, and discussed with others. Had our first meal at Persepchen last night and we cannot wait to go back. Sat at the kitchen bar and had Jason as our host. Everything was great. The cocktails, the service, and the food were all spectacular. We ate the green beans, the heirloom tomato board, the pasta primavera, and the sirloin. Portions are big and every dish was well planned and executed. Jason was a pleasure to speak with and has done an amazing job putting this menu together. Everything slaps. Allow me to explain. There's a traffic light affixed to the arch above the main entrance to Persepshen that serves in place of the classic, neon "Open" sign. Green means come on in for dinner, red means come back later, and you'll have to ask the staff what they use the yellow light for. Rest assured, you'll get a friendly answer because everything at Persepshen is delightful and inviting. You might glance at the menu and think to yourself "$16 for potatoes?", but it's a heaping pile of perfectly crisped potatoes not the artful arrangement of lonely spuds I was expecting. I tend to assume that a pricey restaurant takes itself too seriously and that I'll be paying for pretense with each dish. Persepshen takes food seriously and wastes no time showing off. From the plump steamed buns to the cast-iron cookie, everything I consumed was delicious, nutritious, and unpretentious. Even the Instagram-worthy absinthe ritual somehow felt like it was happening at my friend's coffee table. Our server was charming. The flatware was eclectic. The glassware was tasteful. Yum! I keep driving by this place on my way to work and kept wondering what it was. I came across a news article today saying it opened 3 weeks ago. I was looking for somewhere to go for dinner and this place fit the bill. We were greeted by the host and also the manager, who informed us that they served local and seasonal fare and tried to be more sustainable than other restaurants (they compost a lot of their leftover food which saves them from having as much garbage). The manager also mentioned that their menu changes frequently! For appetizers, we ordered the plate of pickles and the escargot as well as the wood roasted sunchokes and wood roasted oyster tomatoes. All of them were excellent and perfectly seasoned. For mains, my husband ordered the 60 day dry aged charred burger, which he said was excellent. We also ordered the 60 day dry aged beef belly and the buttermilk fried chicken legs. My husband remarked that it is pretty rare to find beef belly (you usually only see pork belly unless someone butchers their own meat; I read that the owner previously worked at Publican Quality Meats in Chicago, so he must know his stuff!). The beef belly was a standout dish! Our favorite out of everything we ordered. The buttermilk fried chicken was excellent too - the taste reminded me of chicken and waffles. For dessert, we ordered the ice creams. I was excited to try the chocolate gelato because of photos I had seen of it with the flaxseed brittle. I really enjoyed the pairing of the strawberry sauce and flaxseed brittle with the chocolate gelato (though it is pretty rich, so I wish I had split it!). The vanilla ice cream with the nuts was very good too, especially the part with the brown butter caramel on top. The service was excellent and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Tonight was our second visit to Persepshen. Just like the first visit the atmosphere, service, and food were amazing! We tell everyone we know about the restaurant and quality of the food. One dish was vegan: quinoa cake with snap peas, daikon radish, micro-greens, almonds, with a wonderfully flavored sauce! One dish was a 210 day dry aged New York strip steak with fingerling potatoes and broccoli with a lemon aioli and red wine reduction. We visit one of my brother's who lives in Phoenix a couple times a year and he always takes us to different food places to experience while we are there. This one is special for sure and the staff and owner made us feel right at home! Lots of plates to share along with some good protein dishes with flavors abound. I attempted to make a reservation food this Saturday then was pleasantly surprised when they said they had availability on Valentine's Day(normally not open on Tuesday) arrived on time seated promptly and ordered some drinks some delicious drinks and the spinach dip. That sunchokes dip damn was amazing, so flavorful not too salty like most. My wife ordered the sirloin no horseradish and it was cooked perfectly. Tender flavorful and the squash purée and brussels were just as flavorful. I ordered the scallop paella and savored every bite. Hands down one of the top seafood dishes I've had anywhere not just in Arizona. I didn't finish my plate because I wanted to experience it again though I know it wouldn't be as good I just couldn't bring myself not to enjoy a little bit at home. If you think you have had it all or that you really can't experience new amazing restaurants in phx it's most likely because your driving right past one of the most genuine places in town. The outside doesn't scream fine dining but it is for sure all that and more, Jason was so kind and helpful the live music and open kitchen make you feel like your in a home hanging out.
