We stopped at Perkins in Waterloo on our way home from and after a stay at a local hotel, the rain helped convince us to call the bike ride early. Not exactly the ending we wanted, but breakfast sounded like a good idea. The service was the best part of the visit. The lady who served us was fast, friendly, and kind, and she was doing a great job. The restaurant was also clean, well managed, and pretty much what you expect from a Perkins. The food itself was fine, but nothing special. The pancakes are still really good, so I will give them that. But the pricing is what really got me. Omelets were $16.79, coffee was $3.89, and even the Magnificent Seven was $10.39. I know prices are up everywhere, but for basic breakfast food, that feels hard to justify. It was not bad food, just very basic food at a price that felt way too high for what it was. At this point, Perkins would probably have to be the only place within walking distance during a long bike ride in the rain for me to go back. Good service, clean restaurant, decent pancakes -- but the value just was not there for me. read more

I ordered the 55+ omelette with cheddar cheese and mushrooms. It was delicious. I also had the cranberry orange muffin. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered 3 for carry out. When I purchased three I got three more for free . I got one more cranberry orange and 2 blueberry, They were all delicious. read more

I called an hour and a half ahead as I drive on the road. What I had wanted was something that was gluten-free and was told that it would be gluten-free. I have just spent the last three hours on the toilet as it was most definitely not gluten-free. I can't say much about the restaurant itself as I was there only briefly, but it did seem clean however talking to somebody and being guaranteed that fruit ,hashbrowns ,and an omelette would be gluten-free and was told that the hashbrowns might not be gluten-free. So I asked for the hashbrowns to be in a separate container..... They were in the exact same container as the omelette. when I called in, I made sure that I was being specific on "yes this is a gluten-free meal". Somebody either went through great pains to make sure that I would be on the toilet for a good three hours as I was or was extremely..... lax, especially when I asked for specifically gluten-free items. I was told that the hashbrowns were fried in a pan with all the other gluten products(so I asked specifically for this to be set aside in its own container for the other guy driving with me.) The "gluten-free omelette" was either fried in that same pan as all of the other gluten products or when they put the hashbrowns on the omelette right next to each other it cross contaminated it. Either way my stomach hurts. I can't sit right and that's not gluten free if you cross contaminated everything! Oh, and before you ask, how do I know that it was this meal in particular . this is "LITERALLY " the only meal I've eaten today so yeah it's kind of easy to narrow it down as this is the only meal I have had today. read more

Came in Halloween morning with my son in full costume. Started in the lobby for 15 minutes and nobody acknowledged us at all. There was only about five table sat in the whole restaurant, and we saw about five different servers walking around. Not a single acknowledgment. I'll go where my business is wanted, very poorly trained staff to allow that to happen. read more

Our server genuinely did not care about us they forgot my fruit and charged us $50 for two basic breakfasts that were $16 each they messed up our ticket which we thought was going to be $30 but when we get to the register they added a bunch of random stuff to our ticket. Our server just cared about the table next to us and charged them for our food and was trying to get us to pay for their food instead even tho they had like 5 people read more

Saw our server multiple times, she never reengaged. people that arrived 30 minutes after we did with more complex orders received their food and we were still left sitting with nothing. single worst restaurant experience I've ever had. talked with the seater shortly before leaving, she went back to see what was going on. waited 5 minutes, didn't see her again. so we left. Pre-Covid , we would go to this place once or twice a month. Always walked out with extra muffins, bakery goods , etc, purchased after our meal . It was a great, helpful, wonderful experience. We were ALWAYS greeted well, and treated well by our servers , our cups never ran dry, and we never felt rushed Sadly, after returning tonight (we moved so don't get over there often), the exact opposite of this was true . We got seated rather quickly, we had our order taken quickly.X which was good. The waitress gave us our food, checked in like 30 seconds later and then nothing for 30, 45 minutes when she showed up to clear our table . My drink had already been empty for a good 20 minutes at that point When she came back, she suggested pie since it was Monday and we got a free slice. I gave my pie order and asked for a new drink , thinking we'd have a few minutes more. Unfortunately , when she returned, there was no drink in hand , and the pie was in to go containers . It's like we were being told to leave , without being told to leave !RUDE! We promptly left , with zero tip, and paid our bill. No extras, no muffins, nothing. We will absolutely NOT be back. I had the pot roast. It came alll chopped mixed in gravy . The gravy was so salty, I had 2 bites , it was so salty I could not eat it. The side was 4 spears of asparagus, that was mushy from being over cooked. When I told the waitress about it, she asked the manager and said that they would only give me 50% off of the price. I asked to speak to the manager she came out and still said 50% remind her I only ate two spears of asparagus and the salad. She ended up taking it off my bill. read more

This was our first time experiencing a Perkins Restaurant. We made a stop here for breakfast during brunch hours. They had a great selection of food and dessert. They even had a buy three get three on cookies, muffins and brownies. We ordered a skillet and a breakfast burger with tomato basil soup which was delicious. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Bathrooms were clean which is great when you're in a road trip. My first experience at this new location exceeded my expectations. It seemed busy from the outside due to all the cars in the parking lot. But there were still ample seats available inside. We were greeted immediately by a manager to seat us. It's a manager I recognize that used to be at the university avenue location. He's been with Perkins for years and is always so polite. The restaurant is bright, clean and simply decorated. A nice refresh from the former Lonestar Steakhouse that was previously in this building. We were served immediately by a very friendly and attentive waitress. She was amazing and I couldn't have asked for better. I really should have gotten her name. Our food came out quickly and everything was good. My husband got pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs and hash browns. I got French toast, scrambled eggs and bacon. Both meals were very good. They also have a party room that seats up to 27. It's free and you have to order all drinks and food from the menu. We will be back! read more

On Saturday 11-18-22 at 8:30am. Stood inline for 1/2 hour along with around 15 other people, and a couple came in after all us who knew one of the waitresses and they were sat down before everyone. The service was quite substandard. The order taker forgot the cup for the hot tea, even after reminding her, and was not brought to the table until after the food arrived. They also messed up the toast order, which also required a couple reminders to bring out in the first place. They brought out the wrong bread. I wish I could find a point to reward them at least in the restroom, but it reeked of urine and air spray. Very disorganized feel to the whole place and they need a lot of improvements before it would be worth a return trip. read more

This is my favorite breakfast spot. Out of all the times I ate here I've only experienced a few hiccups. One time my food took a little longer than usual and the other time they forgot my appetizer but the manager came over and quickly apologized and offered to take care of it. The wait for our food took forever around 45 minutes, and we had seen much food get sent back to the kitchen from other customers so we had been worried about our food but since there were so many complaints we figured our food would be great. Once we got our food everything looked a mess and tasted horrible the eggs were over cooked the cheese sauce was clumpy and we even found a eye lash in the cheese sauce. Also when we got our food one of our orders had been messed up and we sent the food back once we had gotten the new batch the plate was the same plate from our last batch they had just scraped off the old food and put the new food on the same plate and put Bacon on the hash browns our food had also been cold. So over all we ended up leaving and just paying for the Mac and cheese from at box, at least they can do ok doing that. They may need new management because everything was a mess never going there Again worst breakfast ever and not a delightful experience read more
