a variety of donuts in a display case

I am a big fan of trying new donut shops and this place did not disappoint! They have so many fun flavors to choose from I had a hard time narrowing it down. A variety of filled, cake, raise, etc. It's such a cute shop too, a fun atmosphere and a good place to hang out! Staff was friendly and helped recommend some popular flavors. He recommended that jesús as it is most popular. It was like a churro and wow oh wow! Probably my favorite. We got six flavors: - jesús (churro) - salted caramel chocolate - blueberry glazed - peanut butter Oreo - classic sprinkled cake donut - red velvet My favorite has to be the salted caramel chocolate raised or the jesús, but all are exceptional! Plenty of parking as well.

Look at all these donuts and pastries !!!

First of all, and most important ... the donuts are FRESH. We live in Ankeny, but travel LOTS, and whenever we are in Cedar Falls, we stop at Hurts Donuts at 100 E. 2nd Street. I'm attaching a pic, since there is no way for me to described in words the variety of donuts and pastries they carry. If you want to dine in, there are a few tables inside, and there is also a nice green space owned by the city that is nice to hang out by outside. And, here's a tip. If you're like us and had just finished a huge meal on the Parkade you may not feel like eating the donut just yet. If you're faced with a near 2 hr trip home in the car on an afternoon with high's in the low 90's ... do what we do. Bring along a small cooler when you leave the house in the morning, put just a bit of ice in the bottom (no need to load it up) and when you come out of Hurts Donuts, place the donuts in plastic zip lock baggies atop the ice (preferably in a tray) and drive home. Fresh as ever when you get home, without that mushy/melty issue. Here's a pic of the inside and of my "Homer" donut.

Fun box! - A rectangular pizza box from Harts Donut Co. is positioned on a light-colored wooden table. The box features branding and design elements, including the business name and logo. In the background, there is a black cup with a lid and a water bottle, indicating a casual dining or takeout setting.

I love donuts and was excited to hear this company was making an emergency truck stop here. Preorder was easy enough. Donuts are higher priced than most but also larger. The pickup was in a very strange mutlifamily apartment complex rather than a more open space. But generally, it was efficient. People were friendly. Donuts...as shown, tried a bit of everything. Out of all, the apple fritter was the best and true to form, flavor. So many of the mixed dozen were cake donuts, which are not my thing. But, some had good flavor such as the streusel and the blueberry. Many toppings were soggy. The cinnamon rolls were bricks, not yeast, soft and minimal flavor. The maple bacon bars were ok but way underdone bacon. Unfortunately none of these was fresh that day, as any good donut should be. All in all, some better than others. But I'd just the same pick up a pack of donuts at Kwik Trip. I was really hoping for better. (Krispy Kreme would be ideal but we don't have anything local!)

The typical dark pink started to turn a whiteish color from sitting in the case and under lighting so long.

Pushy owner to buy merchandise, I understand running a business and promotion, but after I say no once I'd appreciate to not be bombarded a thousand times to buy something I said no to, it doesn't leave me wanting to return. As for the donut I got one I've had before, the Homer. A few bites in I noticed the typical vibrant pink, had changed to pale whiteish pink after being in the case and under the lighting so long, not exactly appealing. After already experiencing a mushy wet donut from improper frying, I don't think I could return here again. :/

Pb&j - A donut with a smooth layer of white icing and a cherry topping in the center. The donut is placed on a piece of parchment paper, with a wooden surface visible in the background.

How does this place not have five stars?!? I was in town and stopped by. My friend and I both thought these were the best donuts we had eaten in a very long time! I was sad I got just one. So many flavors to choose from. My pb&j donut was full of flavor and fresh. Loved it!

Amazing, delicious donuts with a playful business atmosphere. Their donuts are extremely dense and extremely sweet, and amazingly delicious. Parking can be a pain because of the downtown location, and the donuts are priced like gourmet donuts, but it's definitely very delicious donuts that are outside the "typical" donuts you used to be able to get in Cedar Falls. I'm happy they're here! PROS: -Such an insanely large selection of fresh donuts. Filled donuts? They have them. Gluten-free-ish donuts? They have them. Regular cake donuts? Have them. Cake donuts with insane flavors like candy bars and cereal? Those too. These aren't just the standard donuts you tend to see at Hy-Vee and Wal-mart. They're like the "gourmet" selection that Hy-Vee offers - only way, way more options. -Employees have always been helpful too! They explain the donut organization system, what customer favorites are, and talk about how each one of the donuts taste. The woman behind the counter has always been patient with me and my inability to decide on things and has a ton of information about what they make. One time, I ordered a donut, and she popped in back to pull a fresh, just-iced donut for me instead of the one in the case. Amazing service. -They have a "Hurt's Donut" coupon t-shirt. Buy the t-shirt, and every time you wear it in, you qualify for a Buy One, Get One special. How awesome is that? -The donuts themselves are very, very satisfying. Honestly, unless you have a serious sweet tooth, you're going to find that one is more-than-enough. Their donuts are very dense - and amazingly covered in tons of sweet icing. There's nothing "healthy" about these donuts - just a serious sweetbomb. Even their cake donuts are a clear sugar experience. (They do offer some less-sweet options as well - though their expertise is clearly in the sugarbomb-experience). -They also sell a wide variety of drinks to go with your donuts as well. Soda, milks, and they offer coffee drinks here as well. -There's seating inside, but I imagine the majority of their customers take their donuts to go. They have high-top seating as well as regular, multi-chair tables. CONS: -Donuts are a bit expensive. Not horrendously so (and about on-par with the price you'd pay over at our Cedar-Falls-beloved Scratch Cupcakes too). And honestly, one donut is more-than-enough for most people. Everyone I've given a donut to ends up tapping out before they finish the one! -Located downtown in one of the "up and coming" areas without a dedicated parking lot: that's the problem in itself. Definitely expect to need to traverse to find a parking spot to make it to Hurt's - especially as it's next door to Urban Axe and Urban Pizza (two hopping businesses) and Second State Brewing. However, in the mornings, when most people are likely to want donuts in the first place, parking usually seems to be fine, and I can get a spot in front of the building.

Your mom - Two boys are sitting in the back seat of a car, with one in the foreground wearing a striped shirt and a seat belt, and the other in the background wearing a blue shirt. The car interior includes a headrest and a window showing trees outside. The photo appears to be a selfie taken by one of the boys.

What's the point of being open 24 hours if you don't have any donuts to sell. Came in at 11:30 and had nothing.

Whatever Sprinkles Your Donuts!…read more For nutritional and blood sugar reasons, I largely stay out of donut shops. There are exceptions like Tim Horton's in Canada and most recently Donutland. This is the real deal and with lots of delicious sugar bombs to choose from, courtesy of an engaged staff. And contrary to the urban legend, no donut-loving police officers were present during my visits. Prices have gone up over the years, with my chocolate old fashioned the first morning, and what I call a "Hawkeye Sprinkled" donut the second morning running at $1.84 each. The first morning's donut was consumed on the way to Iowa City, while the 2nd one was saved for the airplane flying out of Cedar Rapids. I found their coffee to be pretty good too. Note: Plenty of casual inside seating is available, as is nice selection of branded items.

The filling tasted like a fresh blueberry pie: bright, jammy, and perfectly balanced against tender, slightly pillowy dough. The glaze was light enough to let the fruit shine. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and very helpful in guiding my choices. The shop's ambiance evokes an old‑school donut parlor -- warm, unpretentious, and comforting. This was my first Donutland donut, and it surely won't be my last. I'll be back.

AMAZING homemade donuts in the heart of Ankeny!…read more Was introduced to Daylight donuts through Ankeny friends and they did not disappoint. Worth the drive if you're out and about in the morning. Visited on a Sunny day at 9am on a Wednesday and their donut case was full of treats! And they were tasty. Walked out with 2 glazed donuts for $2.xx before gratuity. Michelle, the owner, was very polite and welcoming. I've been to Daylight Donuts for a breakfast party before and it was such a great time. Daylight Donuts have been catered to events I've attended and their donuts are always a bit hit. The shop is full of mini Polaroid pictures on the walls that many patrons have taken and posted. Very quaint shop and inviting. Would definitely visit again and will try their milk teas.

Interestingly, I noticed they have a sign for boba but I don't think it was available during the early morning hours. Some of the staff were just entering the store and preparing the boba as I was leaving around 9 am. And that's completely reasonable since most boba places aren't open until noon. Service was attentive and friendly. I had a few questions about some of the donuts and fillings and she was very helpful.
