I brought my 1999 Porsche 996 to Perfection for work on the cooling system. Mike and his crew did a very thorough workup of the entire vehicle, clearly detailed the needed repairs, and identified additional work that would be needed along with advice about what could be deferred. We ended up replacing all the aging hoses from the firewall back, along with a new water pump, air-oil separator, thermostat, and a bunch of other stuff. Mike did quite a bit of "while you are in there" work at a very fair price, and presumably this will save me labor costs in the future. I really appreciated MIke's knowledge of the vehicle and it's systems and his commitment to doing the job right with no shortcuts. He went to great lengths to explain the issues. The diagnosis of the cooling system issues was a bit complicated by an intermittent fault in a cooling fan, but in the end I am very pleased with the work and the service. read more

Mike the owner, as evident from the reviews, may be competent but he is often very difficult to take. I gave him thousands of dollars for repairs on my classic MCB, and most went well. But he sent me home with a fast gas leak which was supposed to have been fixed-a hazard and marring my garage. I returned and he had replaced the filler cap in addition to apparently working on the fuel pump. The cap was extremely tight so I was barely able to remove it. He had "discarded " my original. When I complained he told me not to return even though many repairs should have been covered by his warranty. He did not return my call when 4 months later the leak recurred. read more

Mike took my sons Volvo off a tow truck. I had it towed in with unknown problems. I had it towed from a Midas shop that has been good to me. I reviewed Perfection Auto Works on Yelp after I sent it over. Mike came off as reported, a no nonsense guy, on the phone and said what was on his mind.. I left the vehicle with him and am very happy with the service. His fee was as quoted. There was a situation with the transmission that they figured out and got around. That could have been a huge additional expense! He did a couple of things that he was not under contract to do for free. I recommend PAW. read more

A couple of weeks ago, my car started severely overheating while I was stopped in traffic, or when the car wasn't moving -- my car (a BLACK Volvo S60 2012) would tell me to stop the engine while going 0mph. My friend recommended Perfection Auto Works to me, as she also has a Volvo, and I'm so glad I put my trust in her recommendation. Mike was very helpful, open, and honest about the work that needed to be done outside of a new radiator fan. He also fixed my AC, as it hadn't been blowing cold enough air during hot days for as long as i could remember. He assured me that I was going to be happy with the work they were doing, and I am!! I'm a student at UA, the car is originally from Ohio and I wasn't accustomed to having big repairs done in Tucson yet, but I'm so happy that Mike led me through the process of everything, and was efficient with his work. I could not have gotten, asked for or recieved better service from Mike and crew. The one thing you need when you have a used Porsche is an honest mechanic who doesn't just want to cash in. That's Mike. I went to his shop after buying a used Boxster and wanted him to check it out for me. He gave me an honest assessment and when he told me it would need new brakes, I thought great - "here we go." But was relieved when he said not immediately, maybe next year. Went in recently for a simple oil change, as well as a second inspection on a vehicle I semi-recently bought. For one, the thoroughness of everything that Mike went over to bring the vehicle up to snuff was impressive. Additionally, he suggested factory parts in some instances and gave detailed reasons as to why you might want to spend more on certain items, such as better brakes/pads since it's a heavy vehicle. And it wasn't some sales-pitch. (I would know.) He also prioritized everything, providing a rough "schedule" of when certain things should be fixed by. I only take my baby ('86 MB 560 SL with 39,560 miles) to Mike and his staff. After multiple trips I cannot think of anything I would want to change about the experience. Only took an hour for my annual service today. They gave me their opinion of a potential issue, which we fixed, and also let me know of how to better care for my car. Mike and his Team are awesome!!! I was looking for a reputable shop to work on my Porsche 928 S4. Being that it's becoming a collectible and increasing in value, and mine is well kept, my work was cut out for me. I should preface by saying I try to work on all my own cars (BMW M3, AUDI Q7 S-LINE, NISSAN 350Z) as much as possible and I can sometimes get a bit pedantic (meaning I care much about minor details) on how I do things and how I want things done - precisely, cleanly, and with attention to detail. So..... I took my 1988 Porsche 928 S4 to Perfection Auto to get quite a few things addressed and inspected. Being almost a 35 year old car, things start to accumulate rapidly that need to be looked at and replaced. Mike was honest and patient with my list of concerns and repairs. I believe he is one of the very few if not the only one in Tucson that is knowledgeable when it comes to 928's. He came up with a detailed game plan on what needed fixed now, what could wait, and what was not an issue. Every time I had a question or suggestion, he would explain and educate me and keep me updated on what was going on with the S4. When all was done, the car not only ran like NEW, but looked great too because they detailed it as well!! I value his attention to detail and the time he took to "get it right the first time." Needless to say, I also took my son's VW Passat and he got that running like new as well. Recently had the EGR cooler, MAF sensor, and various hoses replaced after "Engine Malfunction - Reduced Power" warning light popped up. Having recently moved to Tucson (and being only 2 miles away when CEL came on), I started at BMW of Tucson and spent 3 days trying to get a straight answer as to what was going on and how much would it cost. Read other reviews here; gave Perfection Auto a call; and had a solid plan/estimate within 12 hours that was $1000 below the dealership. Best of all - work was complete by end of next day. Also noteworthy - Mike E. stayed open an extra hour due to traffic/tow delays and even arranged for Enterprise to have a car ready for me - at a $29/day rate (special for his customers). Could not be more pleased with this team. Highly, highly recommend. read more

Although I never met him face-to-face, Mike is a personable guy on the phone and very knowledgeable about his profession. He was very accommodating to me, even after I had dropped my vehicle off in his driveway overnight and then failed to call in the morning to follow up with what I was having done. Once I finally called and we got it all straightened out, his shop was quick to turn my vehicle around and return it to me that same day. I brought my BMW in for a free inspection, to see what was needful to have serviced before selling it. The free inspection is a great value and appreciated. The downfall here was that, despite the small things that apparently needed attention, Mike stressed the fact that my front breaks, rotors and sensors were in need of IMMEDIATE replacement, and that I was close to "metal on metal". He made it seem like it wasn't safe to sell the vehicle in the condition the breaks were in, and that I should be weary of even driving it over the weekend before having them replaced. We discussed prices and ultimately I was quoted $688 for replacing front pads, rotors and sensors. He stated he was giving me a "deal" on over all service costs because he wanted to do whatever he could to persuade me to leave the vehicle over the weekend and get our service. I decided to get a second opinion, because honestly, my breaks didn't feel or sound worn, nor did my BMW ever alert me that my pads in need of replacement. Took the vehicle to Break Masters, and was told the breaks have approximately 2 years of life left, "front breaks approx 82% remaining". Even if I did require front rotors, pads and sensors, two separate Break Master locations quoted my BMW at $430 out the door. I was extremely disappointed in Mike's quote, and his insistence that I replace my perfectly good breaks. I feel like I have been taken advantage of, and I'm so thankful I went for a second opinion. How many other poor folks have been pushed and passively agreed to pay for services they didn't need, and then followed up by giving the shop 5 star reviews?? I want to finish this review by being optimistic. Perfection Auto Works is not a break speciality shop, I get that. My inspection was free, and I paid nothing when I drove away. I'm ASSUMING they took the wheels off and inspected the breaks. If thats the case, then I was being quoted service that was simply just plain dishonest. If they DIDNT remove the wheels, then just be aware that this may not be the full-point inspection as advertised. (Don't get me wrong here, its free. I paid nothing, and thankfully, I still have $688+ in my pocket today). Perhaps Mike received misinformation from his inspectors? Perhaps he had me confused with someone else's vehicle? I'm sure there are excuses. The whole experience leaves me wondering what else on the inspection list that I was told needed done, truthfully needs being done? This was not a 1-star review, but by no means a 5-star experience. Bottom line, get a second opinion, and no, I would not recommend this shop, or would I ever have my vehicles serviced here. There are other shops in town that specialize in European made vehicles to chose from. read more

Mike is the best mechanic I have been to. I have had several issues with my car, most of which were caused by other shops. Mike and his team fixed all the problems and returned my car as good as new. They had to work very hard to figure out the issues as they were not normal problems. After another company fried my ignition, Mike replaced 3 computers and several other parts. After diagnostics were run, Mike recommended a number of repairs. He was upfront and said which ones were necessary now and what could wait. I opted to have more repairs done as it was a little less expensive overall. My son and husband reviewed the estimates and agreed they were very reasonable (they both have a lot of experience with cars but weren't available to do the work) I had some issues with my check engine light coming back on after and Mike was very good at getting the car back into the shop and working to resolve the issue. I am completely blown away by the excess of good reviews. Whoever I spoke with was not the display of stellar behavior matching the reviews. I started off the phone call by saying, "I have an extended warranty and I would like to see when I can come in for an appointment." He immediately replied, "well... we don't like dealing with extended warranties here. You know why? Because they don't pay." So I said," ok so I should check with another shop?" He says, "no Im just saying we don't like dealing with them!" I gave him the make and model of my car, and we setup an appointment and he proceeded to tell me, that diagnosis fee was $118 and that I would have to pay for my own rental. I told him that was all covered thru my warranty. He says "so it sounds like you 'only' want to go through your warranty. I said"yeah! I'm not made of money. Thats what the warranties for." He says, " well since thats the case then maybe you should go somewhere else!" And rushed off the phone. I believe in being straight forward. And I an not one to get easily offended by someone who is a little rough around the edges, but whoever talked too was just downright rude. I don't know if it's because I have a less expensive car I was treated that way, but when you are running a business, you will receive good customers and referrals when you are honest AND courteous with people in general. His initial offer was to do an inspection of my car and report what needed to be done. Due to his attitude I decided not to have the repairs done at his shop. When I picked up my vehicle, I noted the driver's side power mirror and the horn were no longer operational. Whether this was intentional or just incompetence, it's created another problem for me to have to deal with. Hello, I thought I would let people know that I have taken my Mercedes, my Lexus and my husbands BMW to Perfection Auto Works for over 12 years now, and I want to let EVERY ONE ON THE PLANET know how HAPPY and how SATISFIED my relationship has been with this shop. They offer a FREE 26 point inspection that lets you know whats up with the car as it goes to the shop. Mike Emery always lets you know if their are thing you need to pay attention to. My husbands BMW needed rear brakes, and since the brake lite was not on, I trusted that the brake pads were as thin as he said......sure enough, when he asked me to look at the rear brakes.... I could see the pad, and they were almost to metal. What I loved about the inspection and the new inspection, was the fact that Perfection Auto Works had told me 5 months before that the brakes were getting thin.!!!! Wow, no surprise, as Perfection Auto Works had already told me the facts on their inspection. We have been to many shops in the Tucson area on just the "oil change " circuit ,but I don't recommend this if you want quality......the last one left the drain plug loose. I HIGHLY recommend Perfection Auto Works because they have the ability and the professionalism to do a wonderful job on your car, or my car...
