I had a DTML pump stop working on me. Took the vehicle go desert tech where David told me he replaced the pump 3 different times but couldn't get the fault code to clear and that it was ok to drive the car. Well, that pump he installed broke. I go to a way better repair shop which come to find out, that David installed a reused dtml pump from another vehicle!! Hence why the fault code wouldn't go away(he installed a bad pump). These dtml pumps are date stamped as well. Very disappointed in how he runs things. He charges a whole body for crappy work. I had taken my BMW a few years back. It was over $1,000 fix. I drove off the lot and before I could even make it home the car was over heating. It turns out, the hose came off and all the coolant leaked out. The owner told me that BMW doesn't put clamps on the hoses and that's why it came off (even though there was one on it after it had to be taken back). I talked to another mechanic a few days later and he said that is absolutely not true. Somebody just forgot to put it on. read more

The owner of this shop has worked on my BMWs for 10 years. He has always done a nice job and he gets my cars up and running or fixed or maintained as needed. I would recommend Desert Tech to work on your BMW. Especially if it is out of warranty. David also works on other foreign cars & some American built cars, so make sure you ask him if he can service your car. My complaints: Communication with him over jobs and what needs to be done lately has decreased, and I wish he would charge less for the work that he does because if he did, I would get more of the work done that is needed on my cars, but I understand he has his bills to pay. read more

He even personally went out of his way to come to my house to correct a problem that resulted from a repair that went slightly wrong (new fuel pump seal was inadvertently kinked during replacement). I took my bmw in to get the rear brake pads replaced and they did a good job getting my car fixed with a reasonable price. However, when I went to pick up my car they told me that they were having a problem with getting the brake warning light to reset. They told me that it was a computer issue, but now that I am having my car looked at elsewhere they tell me that the problem is due to desert tech using cheap aftermarket sensors that don't work and that they should have used the real sensors. I feel like desert tech wasn't up front with me. I would have gladly paid extra for the right sensors. read more

I hate to do this since David seemed like such a nice guy. I got my fuel pump replaced by him in my Mini Cooper, but when my car didn't start 2 days later, no one answered the phone and turns out the shop was unexpectedly closed for the next 3 weeks! I was not made aware of this at all when I brought my car in and my repeated voicemails on the shop phone and David's cellphone went unanswered for days until I broke down and went to the dealership. I have a 3 year warranty on the fuel pump that's totally useless unless I bring it in to this shop! One star for total lack of communication. read more

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the 2 words that come immediately to mind when I think of Davids work are INTEGRITY and HONESTY. The past few months have seen my 2006 BMW 530i go through a couple of rough patches mechanically. To make a long story short, DAVID made sure to educate me of not only my options, but alternatives that would be far less expensive (fuel vapor leak? Make sure you try a new fuel cap first). DSC/DTC comes on now and then? Spend $800 to fix it or live with it as it doesn't affect the cars performance. Fuel pump light came on? Drive it for a couple days and see if it's a fluke or a problem (it was) and the quality of his repair work is beyond reproach. He's an honest, highly skilled mechanic and the fact that I use my car for work (Uber) he seemed extra concerned with getting me back on the road for the least expensive and safest repairs for me, my family and friends and my passengers. Take your import to him. He will be thorough, he will educate you and most importantly he will fix your car and charge you honest rates and you get way more than what you pay for when it comes to peace of mind!! After getting quoted $300 to simply diagnose why my 2000 Audi A6 was giving off 14 check engine codes and experiencing a rough idle and acceleration I decided to call around and get second opinions. I called in and spoke to David about the issue and he let me know that he was fairly busy but he promised he would give me a few minutes of his time to look it over. I drove it in and he popped the hood and started walking me through what the different possibilities were. After about a half hour and a can of brake cleaner he found the source of the leak. Turned out to be the rubber gasket within the intake hose was slightly folded over. He took it apart and adjusted it and immediately the car ran a helluva lot healthier. Drove it quite a bit and the issues haven't returned and I only spent 1/4 of what I would've elsewhere. 10/10 for this shop. Will be returning soon for more work on my car and definitely recommending to friends and family. read more
