I needed to get my eye checked out as I had a minor eye injury and couldn't make it over to my usual optometry office since they were on the other side of town. I called the night before in hopes they could squeeze me in but I understood it was last minute and they were able to make me an appointment for the next day. I arrived for my appointment with some time to spare to fill out any paperwork since I was a new patient. The young man at the front desk was very nice and throughly went over what information was needed and my copay amount through my insurance. Dr. Hwang completed my eye exam and she was very thorough. Luckily my injury was minor but I'll be back for a follow up appointment. I decided to make them my primary optometrist office moving forward since they're a lot closer to my home and I had a great patient experience. I recommend their office! read more

Dr. Kitajima was amazing! He took the time to educate me about my eye condition (dry eye) and explain the possible causes in a way that was easy to understand. I've never had an optometrist be so thorough, so this visit was truly refreshing. He walked me through every procedure, explaining what he was doing and why, and patiently answered all my questions. The entire team was wonderful, especially Chris (optometric assistant/technician). He explained each step, offered helpful suggestions for frames and lenses, and was patient, kind, and transparent throughout the entire process. They also have a great selection of glasses and are very upfront about costs before the appointment starts (i.e. how much the testing will be, how much your insurance will pay for glasses/contacts), which I really appreciated. Came for my regular eye checkup and this time along with wifey( she had her eye exam scheduled as well alongside mine) . Amazing experience as always where Dr Brian and his team take perfect care of their patients to make sure they have an amazing experience. Dr Brian is very patient and does repeat his explanations when requested. Always makes sure that we were absolutely comfortable in during our eye exams and never was in a rush to get to the next patient. They do carry quite a bit of range of eyewear and can help you choose from the same. Absolutely absolutely ( not a typo) recommend their service. read more

I recently nearby and wanted to get an eye exam prior to a major trip that would leave me busy for most of the remainder of the year. I saw this place on Yelp had overall great reviews and offered walk ins. Since I had time, I made the drive over and asked if there was any walk exams available that day. Fortunately for me there was a no-show and I was able to claim their appointment time. Filled out some paper work and was quickly briefed on the cost (nothing came unexpected as I was familiar with what my insurance already covered). The initial part of the appointment is the usual pre-examination. Nothing fancy and fairly straight forward. What I felt was worth the time was the Doctor's more thorough examination for the latter part of the exam regarding retina and eye health (the part where they shine bright lights at you). From past experience, most optometrist I have visited breeze through this part doing minor and brief waves of lights before saying I'm all healthy. Dr. Brian was much more thorough than past with checking both eyes from various angles. As for the process of picking frames, I can't give too much insight here. I originally just wanted to update my sunglass prescription as my current eye glass were working fine as is. While I had considered updating them, it would require leaving them behind which would not work out since I didn't bring my spares and just had my eyes dilated. I did mention that I really liked my current glasses and were told they had the brand's sunglasses on display which made shopping experience pretty quick. Be aware that they do have a somewhat limited selection. Once selected, we quickly went over the various options, premium options, etc. along with a quick explanation of everything followed by measurements. All in all, this process was very fast. I was sitting in the waiting room waiting for the dilation eye drops to kick in and was able to observe interactions with other customers as customers were asking for suggestions and if certain things can be done in the shop to improve the fit. Overall, it was a nice and quick visit. There was no haggle or pressure while shopping. Friendly staff. The examination process is more thorough compared the handful of places I have visited since living in the Bay (up and down the peninsula). read more

I could tell she really cares deeply about her patients and the quality of her practice. For what it's worth, all my previous experiences here were great. Great service and friendly staff! Made an appointment on the phone and got one a few days later. When I arrived I did not have to wait long for my eye test or seeing the doc. Doc was friendly and answered all my questions without being judgmental! Only downside was their small selection of designer eye glasses, would have loved to brands like Chanel there. But they do carry Tom Ford and Prada! HSA is also accepted here and I was able to use it for my $20 copay. read more

Amazing service! The staff are super kind and friendly. I had not had an eye exam in a few years and they made sure I felt comfortable, and answered any questions I had. I also received a contact lens exam. Because this was my first time trying out contacts, this added a good chunk of extra time to the appointment, but they're transparent about how much extra time may be added to your session in case you have limited time. For first time contact lens wearers, they dedicate time to teaching you how to insert and remove your contacts, as well as how to care for them and safely wear them. They also have you insert and remove them a few times before you can go with them in order to ensure that you can do so safely. I highly recommend this business, as it is clear they care for their patients and are thorough in their work. read more

I developed sudden floater and shadow in my right eye. I called and got an appointment right away. Dr. Brian saw me between his patients on one of the busiest day for his office Saturday before the long holiday! His office has this amazing camera that takes detailed photo of my retina all around for just $39 copay! Every patient should get this photo! He took his time to go over the pictures with me and educated me the risk of lattice. He reassured me that I didn't have a retinal detachment. I am so thankful for Dr. Brian's thorough, friendly and professional care. I left his office feeling so relieved. He is the best! His entire team is also super nice. Been coming here for about 5 years and I honestly love this place. I got my Salt glasses from here and they are really amazing. They've always helped me right when I come in and I can't see myself going anywhere else for my exams and lenses. Although, I found myself having to keep going back to get my glasses "adjusted", they would hurt the back of my head and, it still hurts. But when all said and done, they go above and beyond to help me out with any problems. They are nice, respectful, they have awesome doctors and I will keep going here for sure read more

I never write YELP reviews, but I can't NOT say anything. These 3 stars are ONLY for the 3 young ladies that helped me before and after my exam a few days ago. They were friendly, thorough in explaining the costs and insurance, and they took time to help me find glasses and even asked how my children were. I think one of them was new (didn't see her last year) but they were all wonderful. Now for 0 stars....I was a patient here for 3 years, and I thought Vicky was a doctor that actually cared about me. Turns out she doesn't. My first exam was extremely thorough and Vicky was so friendly. Guess it was a fluke. Last year I noticed a decline in patient care, but I didn't take anything personal because-COVID. This year I felt like I was a waste of her time. To compare, my PRETESTING was more personal, felt more thorough and I was comfortable asking questions. During my exam though, Vicky was very short (which I found odd since she was having a great conversation with a person deciding between 3 glasses right before my exam). My exam lasted LITERALLY 10 minutes. Including her walking out during my exam to talk to someone? I could have gone to Costco or Walmart for this kind of exam. Afterwards, it was okay. I told her I just wanted to get back up glasses (My prescription is low but I wanted to give PPO my business). Vicky had one of the front desk ladies help me, who was so helpful. She helped me look at glasses before my exam (I arrived 10 minutes early) and She took her time to find me great glasses after too. She wrote the models down for me though because I can't come back after my experience with the doctor. Not sure about Dr Brian or the other doctors but I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

They take the time to explain why they're performing a test and let you know what you need to improve your vision. The doctors are also super great with our kids and make them comfortable with the exams. Perfect Pair Optometry continues to bless my life! another fantastic experience is in the books, especially given the severity of the circumstances. i had a terrifying scare late night last week. i saw flashing light when i turned off my bedroom lights, like a thunderstorm was going off! a quick google search had me thinking i had torn my retina. i went to bed wondering if i would soon be blind. the next day my favorite eye doctor ever, Dr. Pei-Shan (Vicky) Hsieh, came immediately to my rescue even with her busy schedule. she is always available or very quick to get back to me. it's easy to see that she truly cares about her patient's well being and that she respects everyone's time. we scheduled an appointment immediately, she quadruple checked my eyes for damage, and educated me to the fullest on the situation (what may have happened, what could happen, how things happen, what to do if things happen, and how to protect myself if they do). i am always amazed and even feeling guilty about how much personal time she actually spends with her clients. luckily my retina is fine! i truly hope anyone reading this review gives Perfect Pair Optometry a chance, because ive been very lucky to find this place for all my many ocular needs. im actually headed there to buy contacts today. always shop local! thank you Vicky!!! read more

I've been going here for probably the last 5 years. They're fairly quick and keep the appointments right in schedule. I haven't bought glasses in awhile but I did take glasses in to get fixed and they did so without charge, it was a quick fix and they did it right then and there. I've been coming here about 2-3 years - chose them mostly because of the good reviews, and their absolutely cute name/story/website. I really tried to like this place but to be honest, most of my experiences (with the front desk) weren't the greatest. The optometrists themselves, Drs Vicky and Brian are both very nice and knowledgeable. Dr Vicky was especially helpful in guiding me when I had an issue with pinguecula in my eyes. My issue is more with the front staff, who have always made scheduling such a hassle. I (like most people) truly only want to come in on my days off because PTO is precious. Or it used to be, pre-COVID. Now PTO just sits to rot, I guess. My only request is to schedule on my day off. I clearly say: "Please just schedule me on your next available XYZ-day." You'd think this is pretty easy to understand but the woman on the phone always offers me appointments on literally every other day of the week. They are likely her soonest available appointments but was that my request? No. I even state that I don't mind waiting a month or so, I just want it to be on my day off. Mind you, my day off is during the work week so I'm not only asking for the weekend hours (which I know are highly prized!) This year, I called to schedule an annual check and thankfully got an appointment on my day off pretty easily. Even got told that they checked my insurance and that the exam and lenses was still covered (I recently switched insurance). Sounds great? Wrong! Much too easy. I got a reminder call today that told me my appointment was tomorrow (NOT my day off, and NOT the right appointment day). I also got told that my insurance didn't cover the exam. Literally everything the first receptionist told me was a lie and a waste of my time. This is why I only schedule things on my day off. If I had taken a day off to come for this appointment, it would have be a complete waste since the appointment was scheduled wrong to begin with. I used to recommend this place to friends all the time but I absolutely will not be in the future. I'm not sure I'd come back here anymore just because the front office is a hurdle! You need to be able to GET an appointment before you can appreciate the good optometrists in the back! read more

The good part is that they have a lot of new optometrical equipment. One of the machine I have never seen anywhere else is the Nikon Optos Retinal Imaging device which takes a digital photo of the retina. This shows that they seriously invest in this business. The bad part is right after the eye exam, I had to work with one of the assistants. After a few minutes going through their selection of frames along the walls, I did not like what I saw and furthermore I was pressed for time due to another engagement. So I told the assistant that I simply want to put new lenses on my old favorite frame (this time). Right away, she gave me the look of disapproval. Then she tried to persuade me using scare tactics. She said the old frame is fragile and may break during the process of putting on new lenses. She even gave me the statistics: "I would like you to know that there is a high chance of your frame will break - in which case the lab will not be responsible. The chance of breakage is anywhere from 3 to 5 percent.". I re-iterated that I believe my old frame is sturdy and the chance for anything to break is always there in anything new or old. Finally after a few back-and-forths, I told her that either new lenses on my frame in which case I am willing to take that chance, or I would like the prescription and have it done elsewhere. I can tell her attitude was reluctant, unfriendly, and unprofessional after that. It was clear that the assistant was trying too hard to sell me a new frame to make more money. Any optometry business which should be trust worthy and low-stress. I don't think Perfect Pair Optometry has neither one of those 2 qualities. read more
