I came to VisualEyes to get my prescription filled based on their stellar reviews and the amazing pun in their name (turned out to be an eye-mazing combo though, I wonder which one it was...?). The service was very professional and I was able to get the frames of my choice ordered from the manufacturer. The glasses were ready well within the expected time frame. They kept me updated every step of the way. I got both prescription glasses and sunglasses. When picking them up, the staff made sure that the I could see well with the new glasses by asking if I could see clearly. They also encouraged me to go outside with my sunglasses. I've never had such care! Each pair were adjusted for me until I was satisfied. The staff has been very friendly and helpful every time I have come in and I typically never have to wait to be helped even if there are others in the store. Eye'll be back for sure! read more

Wow - Willow Glen deserves a more friendly downtown optometrist. Was greeted with this friendly sign today when I went to shop for sunglasses for my wife as a gift. "DO KOT ENTER WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT". On the front door! Not "appointments recommended, please call XXX to see if we can help you". Just "stop, don't enter". Even for no-prescription sunglasses? I poked my head in without an appointment and asked if I could look at the sunglasses without an appointment. The young lady said "OK but if someone comes in with an appointment we will have to help them first." Ok... I understand. Then asked if I buy sunglasses as a gift, no prescription, and my wife wants a different pair, can she get a refund or exchange? "No, sorry, no refunds or exchanges." I guess I understand a merchant choosing to only issue store credit for an exchange, but not even offering exchanges on a gift, well that pretty much ensures no one will shop for gifts here. Retailers have the right to set whatever policies they want. I just wish there were a more friendly retailer of sunglasses around with whom I could do business. read more

VisualEyes Optometry - Sign greeting me as a visitor wanting to shop for a gift. A tad aggressive in my opinion. - Optometrists Near Me - San Jose, California

It's a long overdue post. I haven't had my eyes examined for quite some time . I had a history of astigmatism before lasik surgery. Recently during the pandemic my line of work required loupes and a face shield . I was concerned that my eyesight was starting to change from those new safety precautions. Dr Kevin provided the most comprehensive exam I have ever experienced after years of eye exams in the past. He has a wonderful one on one approach with some providing educational information. Other optometrists are ready to sell you a pair of prescription glasses like used car salesmen. Dr Kevin has your eye health in mind and not pushy with his recommendations. Highly recommend ! read more

Long time patient for VisualEyes, switching now. Message to front desk staff, don't be rude to customers, we have a choice of where we go.

I have been a patient of this office for over ten years. Dr. Trainor explains everything in detail in a way I can understand, he never rushes through an appointment and he even called me while I was on vacation in Thailand during an eye emergency. The office staff is professional and the office is clean. Highly recommend. read more

I wanted to acknowledge Ashley and the Optometrist for the outstanding customer service they provided. The Dr was pleasant, engaging and professional. She explained each test and what the results were. It was never rushed. I was impressed with the Dr's patient care. Ashley greeted me with a smile and a warm greeting. She handled the initial insurance paperwork, preliminary tests and finally the frame selection. I found her to be pleasant and helpful throughout my visit. Thank you for a pleasant experience. read more

I have been coming to visual eyes for over 20 years. I trust the doctors and the staff with my precious VSI benefit year after year. My glasses stay on the trends due to their diverse selection. Frames range from high end to more economical - always quality. I will note their popularity and location in downtown Willow Glen requires planning ahead. They get busy so keep your appointments and make sure you are on time. By planning you can have a wonderful yearly experience with your favorite new pair of glasses! read more

Dr ngan is very dedicated to her patients and provides excellent care. On Sunday Valentine's Day she responded within 30 minutes to help me onsite with a scratched cornea. The pain was unbearable and I would have spent many hours in the ER. After her treatment I am feeling much better. I highly recommend her. read more

One person in particular, Monica, acts entitled both through the phone and in person. Her hostile tone is not welcoming and makes you feel belittle. She talks to you as if you should know and understand everything about the business. The store front service is trash. If I could give zero stars I would. I'm only writing this as a warning to others. Only reason why I came her was because this is what my insurance gave me, but quickly moved when I changed insurance. read more

I love this office! They're my preferred eye doc & I will tell anyone I meet how fantastic they are!!

They are so welcoming, professional and kind. She makes your services much better!. It is such a pleasure working with her! Thanks!

This place is pretty good. I've been a customer since 2001. I got contacts here and prescription glasses and they did my pre- and post- Lasik care as well. The staff is alright and the husband and wife doctor team is very professional. The best thing about this place is the location and their inventory. They are in the middle of downtown Willow Glen, so you can do other stuff before or after your appointment. They have a very nice selection of frames and they can order anything out of the catalog. After Lasik, I even bought a pair of prescription glasses mainly for the frames. They also offer a special discount to VSP insurance members. read more

Dr. Trainor is seriously the best!!! Amy, the front desk person is very sweet and always greets you with a smile! I have been coming here for about 10 years and every time has been a smooth process. They take appointments on Saturday's which is convenient. It's a very cute, clean little office. Right in the middle of downtown Willow Glen so you can grab a bite or walk around before or after your appointment. The only caveat I have is that their glasses are super expensive and overpriced, I understand it's private practice but the prices are pretty steep even after insurance covers $140. I will still continue to come here for my eye exams because the quality attention and service I receive is great! read more

I was in the store to try and buy a pair of glasses. All the staff were busy with other customer. I asked several times if they can just unlock the shelf , so I can try the glasses. They rudely said no somebody should be with you like if I will steel something if someone not watching me !!! We waited for 15 min, nobody cared about us or even apologize or willing to help. Aweful customer service, I could have given 0 star if it was an option! read more

Great facility with a large selection of regular glasses and sunglasses. The location is really nice on Lincoln. There's some street parking and small lot behind the office. Lots of local shops and restaurants nearby. The vibe is this office is pretty hip and modern and the staff is really friendly. They explained the exam process and my exam was done by Dr. Sung. I found her to be friendly, knowledgable and able to answer my questions clearly. It was a thorough exam. I plan on returning to pick up a pair of frames soon and would recommend VisualEyes and their staff to my friends. Keep up the good work. read more

Horrible customer service! We were there to buy and they wouldn't even unlock the windows for us unattended! I was offended and left.

They have a great selection of glasses and while selecting glasses the ladies that work there are very helpful. The reason for my lower rating is that when my glasses were ready, they called my number and apparently left a voicemail because I didn't answer and didn't recognize the number. I never got the message and had been waiting for my classes for about a month with out a call. They didn't call me back at all or call my back up number (my mom's phone number). My glasses have been sitting in their office for two weeks and they didn't decide to ever notify me again other than that one voicemail. I found out all this by calling them and asking and they preceded to tell me that my glasses had been there the whole time. I moved back to college so now they have to ship them to me, AND they are making me pay for shipping because of their mistake. Moral of the story: be on top of it and keep calling them to see if your glasses have arrived. read more

I really like this little optometry office. Why? 1. The doctors are friendly, accommodating, and seem to know what they're talking about. 2. Their staff is really great about helping you find the right glasses for your face. My husband and I have worked with two different technicians, and both of them were wonderful and helped us choose exactly the right frames. If you order contacts through them, they arrive within a couple days. 3. The store is inviting. It has an upscale decor without being pretentious. I'm withholding one star because frames are not cheap here. But if you can get a good deal through your insurance, I'd highly recommend Visualeyes. I know they accept VSP. read more

I have poor vision and Dr. Trainor is fantastic. He is always very current on trends and advances in the industry. I feel like I am always given every option for treatment and contact lenses. He even suggested I bring in my very (costco) old/bent by my toddler glasses to see if his staff could try fixing them. Front office staff is typical for the medical industry -- hit or miss. read more

A special review by the Man with The Iron Stomachs Fiance I have been going to see Dr. Trainor at Visualeyes Optometry for about three years now. I really like the facility, the staff, and the products that they offer here. The best part is that they do not do that air puff glaucoma test. Dr. Trainor has a laser that he can use. I used to hate that air puff with a passion and now I do not have to deal with it. Woot Woot! I go here once a year and they have always been very professional and attentive in helping me select my frames. I know that I can be a royal pain when it comes to making a decision and they have always been more than understanding. They also have evening and weekend hours, which is a definite plus for me. Their prices are a bit on the high side so do not go here looking for a bargain but the care that you receive more than makes up for it. read more

I like this place. This has been my only eye doc I have ever had and I see no reason to change. They are nice and they check my eyes. Not sure what else people want. I gave them the 5th star because they have appointments on the weekends! Not having to lose money taking time off to get my eyes check is fantastic. See you guys in a year. read more

I found Visual Eyes Optometry on Yelp after my previous optometrist told me they no longer carried Chanel Eyewear. Visual Eyes had a very large selection of Chanel, and also other high end designer brands. I was helped by Nori, who was very friendly and helpful. She took the time to review all pricing and options so that I could maximize my insurance benefits and get the best product to meet my needs. I have happily found a new optometrist! read more

The Doctor was fantastic. The office is a mess. I ordered glasses 2 weeks ago with a promise of 10 days to 2 weeks delivery. Good thing I called. The frames were back ordered without an eta. The office didn't call to tell me. I had to call them. They offered a work around which would take another 10 days. Making the total wait over 3 1/2 weeks. They argued about giving me a refund and then tried to tell me that they had to wait for the manager to approve and cut a check. I pressed them to refund to the credit card I paid with. Reluctantly they finally gave up on their games and agreed. My hopes of finding a new eye doctor were destroyed. Great doctor. Terrible office. It gets better ... the office "forgot" to cancel the insurance claim until I called them. The office staff is definitely up to no good. read more

The entire staff at Visual Eyes (especially Monica and Lisa) are very knowledgeable and friendly. They go the extra mile to help me maximize my insurance plan which I really appreciate. The optometrists spend the necessary time to evaluate my vision needs. They are a top notch group of professionals! read more

Appointment Making: I had to wait a month for a Saturday appointment, but I expect that. Lots of availability during the week, and they're open until 7PM on Wednesday and Thursday. Atmosphere: It was a little harder to find while driving than I expected, as the storefront is a little further back than the rest of the stores on Lincoln, but easy to spot while walking. Once you get inside it's a small office, friendly and personable staff. Great equipment. I haven't been to an optometrist in a few years, so having laser and computerized systems instead of puffs of air and whatnot for the glaucoma tests. Staff: I saw Dr. Ngan, and she was excellent. Really fast in narrowing down my prescription and talking to me about my vision habits when it comes to computer use. Not at all judgmental about having not been to a clinic and other such things, hooray! She was also really helpful when it came to eye irritation form allergies and talked me through a ton of options. Price: They gave me lots of options or the lenses themselves, similar styles in many price ranges. However, they're all a bit on the high side, $120-260 for the ones I looked at. I would not recommend going here if you don't have insurance. My bill came out to high $600s if I did not have insurance, but I was getting designer frames. With insurance it was only $100 co-pay, hooray! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and would highly recommend if you have vision covered in your plan. I'll definitely be going back. read more

VisualEyes is located right on the main drag in Willow Glen, very convenient. I didn't have to wait at all to get checked in, and have the checkups done. Overall the checkups were conducted in a professional and crisp manner. I do have a couple issues: first, the front desk didn't spell out their fees before the tests, although they make you sign a form that says they will. I'm charged for a "contact lens fitting"! I've been wearing contacts since 1996, haven't seen that before. I was examined by Dr. Sung. I found her to be competent, and I assume she is good if my eyes actually had a problem. But her "bedside manner" is very dry and hmm...remote.You're in, you're out. I'm sure it suits many others. read more

I've been a patient for 12 years now and I have nothing but rave reviews for Dr. Trainor. I'm a picky person with my vision and he goes through it ever year with the same meticulous approach as the first time. Contacts could be pain to get right and he is right with you, holding your hand all the way until you are happy. I've moved 40 miles away but we still make the. Annual trek to their office. read more

They have good staff and modern equipment. Probably not the cheapest place to go - but very thorough. I thought their selection of frames was very limited, unlike a previous reviewer. One unexpected plus was that a week after I selected a set of contact lens, I received a rebate form, as well as a copy of my bill (which was partly my co-pay, and partly my vision insurance plan) in the mail! I had no idea the contacts I chose had an active rebate, and they provided everything I needed to submit the rebate, minus a stamped envelope ! Got the rebate a week ago (after the standard 8-10 week processing) and got back $55 ! Sweet ! read more

This review comes after my optometrist of 20+ years retired. Whoa! He was the bestEST!! It has not been easy finding a replacement, but I believe I have found a hidden gem in downtown willow glen. I scheduled an appointment for an annual eye exam & confirmed that they accepted VSP (choice) insurance. I went in and discovered that I had a scratch on my cornea and what appeared to be an infection. I was prescribed an antibiotic, followed the instructions and was ok by the next eye exam visit. Dr. Ngan took good care of my eyes. We discussed various contact lens options and my questions were answered to my satisfaction. I really like the office setting. It's clean, nice selection of frames, staff is friendly and the equipment is cleaned just prior to your eyes being tested/examined. Overall, I am happy with this office and will be back. Thank you to Dr. Ngan and her staff for making a great first impression! read more

I've walked by this office many times and always admired their creative window displays. I finally needed to go see an eye doctor and decided to give them a try since they are so close to my home. I was a little hesitant due to the wide range of reviews on Yelp. My experience was very positive. They were busy and had to book my appointment out a few weeks in advance but I was not in a hurry. Everyone I dealt with at the office was efficient and helpful so I'm a little surprised that some people had a negative experience. They have the most modern exam equipment so the exam was very fast. The doctor gave me good advice. They did all the research on my vision coverage and let me know exactly how much I was entitled to and how much I would have to pay out of pocket. The selection of glasses is excellent, they have a lot of designer and non designer brands to choose from. I plan to keep coming back and would highly recommend them! read more

Great service and good products (contacts, glasses, sunglasses). The doctor there really helped me find contacts that were comfortable for my eyes. Didn't just stick with the Acuvue formula. read more

My husband and I both have seen Dr. Trainor for several years and have been really happy with the service. He paid attention to detail, is thorough, has never made me wait for an extended period in the lobby and they have some kids toys about for my little one to occupy themselves with during an appointment. They have a large selection of glasses on site as well, which is convenient. Dr. Trainor provided great follow-up care for me after I had PRK surgery, as well as routine eye care. Highly recommend. read more

Horrible customer service. I left a voicemail to get an appointment and did not hear back in over 48 hours. When I finally reached the receptionist she said that she 'didn't have any appointments anytime soon'. Really?? I guess Visual Eyes Optometry is not in the business of making money. read more

Awesome docs and I'm self insured so they give you a nice little break. Plus their Chanel glasses!!

I had the nose piece fall off my fossil glasses. Crystal at the front desk fixed them for 10 bucks in about 4 minutes. She even adjusted the frames for free; good stuff. Very friendly and professional place. read more

I have been going to Visual Eyes Optometry for several years now and I couldn't be happier with them! The staff is very friendly and the husband/wife team of optometrists is extremely professional and knowledgeable. The location is very convenient and their showroom looks great. They have a very large selection of frames and they are so helpful when it comes to selecting a set of frames that works for me. As stated in an earlier review, they don't use that air puff test for glaucoma, which is another big plus! So if you're looking for an optometrist where you can get fantastic service, great looking glasses, comfortable contact lenses and an accurate prescription, this is it! read more

Dr. Trainor is great. As he's doing an exam, he explains everything as he does it and makes sure to tell me when I can blink and what a test is going to feel like. He answers questions really thoroughly and I don't feel like I'm being rushed. He seems to actually read the chart about why I am there before I arrive so I don't have to explain my vision history every time. Also the office staff are nice and I've never had to wait longer than 15 minutes to see the doctor. read more

I decided to try this optometrist because of all the great reviews here on Yelp. What a positive experience!! Andrea the front desk person who greeted me was extremely friendly, got me through the paperwork and insurance forms with ease, and was very competent giving me the preliminary eye tests. My eye exam appointment was with Dr. Trainor, who was thorough, calming, reassuring and most informative. He took the time to explain what he was doing and why, and I actually learned quite a bit during the exam. I'm so glad I found this place and will definitely return for my eye exams and prescription glasses needs. read more
