Everything went alright during my visit. The staff was polite and professional. The doctor checked in on my symptoms and asked how long I'd been experiencing them. They paid attention to smaller things I mentioned and didn't make it feel rushed. Explained what might be the cause and gave a few things to consider. Incompetent optometrist. Had an annual eye exam with Dr. Tarryn Uyen Ngo. Requested an eye dilation to examine the back of the eye but got refused. Dr Ngo says she is not a surgeon doctor so she cannot dilate my eyes and check the back of the eye. I told her I usually do it in the annual eye exam at other optometry stores. But she insists she cannot do the exam. If you want to check more(e.g., the back of your eye), she will refer you to another place called Advanced Eye Associates, Inc(owned by Danny Binh Luong) based on whatever you told her(not fact based). It's such a waste of time and an annual eye exam in her optometry store. She can only do glasses optometry but nothing more. Avoid at all cost. read more

It had been quite a while since we'd seen an optometrist due to the pandemic and our previous optometrist retiring. I was badly in need of new glasses. Dr. Ngo helped me get a new prescription pair, without breaking the bank. She also performed several tests to assess the poor eyesight in my kid's eyes, Dr. Ngo recommended contacts. The process to get an eye examination was perfect during COVID. When you arrive, you call them so they can let you know whether they're ready for you to come inside. Dr. Ngo was very patient with explaining the pros and cons of different contact lenses (biweekly vs daily, oasys vs moist). I appreciated that she helped me make the best decision by giving me various samples to trial. And the communication with the staff was also excellent. I had a hard time finding time during the work day to call to order lenses; however, the staff was great at communicating with me via e-mail and voicemails. read more

This review is solely based on Nam (sorry if I spelled this wrong). I haven't even met the doctor yet but Nam helped me get everything coordinated for my upcoming appointment. I called to see if I could get a second opinion and I was willing to pay out of pocket because I didn't want to cause any inconvenience with my previous doctor or this doctor. She set me up with an appointment and recommended I call my insurance anyway to let them know my lenses were not where they need to be. Every parent says they love all their children equally, but deep down, they are obviously lying. Similarly, everyone says they appreciate all of their senses equally, but psssst, come close. I will tell you a secret: everyone is lying. Touch, Taste, Smell, and Hearing, you are all wonderful and I would hate to lose any of you. However, my blessed and beautiful Sight is the only sense that I take in for regular exams. Sight, I designate you my favorite and my heir. Wanted to wait until my glasses come before writing the review to make sure the quality is what I expected. My experience with North Valley Optometry is perfect in person. Both optometrist and staff were attentive, caring and listened to my concern. The wait is not long and I was cared for the whole time waiting. I come here from Asia and had worn glasses at a young age. I have had multiple glasses made at different places in the US and they all gave me headaches. I later found out through a doctor at LensCrafters that Asia makes glasses with a different curvature than the US so in order to make my glasses, I have to get it matched my Asia-made-glasses' curvature. North Valley listened to my concern and when I provided them with my old glasses, they were able to make glasses that match the curvature. This is important to note if you were like me who need to get glasses done here but come from Asia. Costco and many other places do not offer this customizable option when I asked them. The only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars is because I am going to school out of state and had to communicate via email and phone call and have my family dropped off my old glasses. It just feels like they were not very attentive via email communication. My follow up emails were lost and never answered (even a confirmation email that says "we receive your information"), I had to call multiple times and had to remind them of my case and ask for updates constantly. To me, that was a little turn-off. However, I would still recommend them for their flawless in-person service. read more

Worst optometrist ever. Have had the worst time here. Have been going here for a while and they've just gotten worse with time. Went here for the convenience factor since it's not too far. They jerk you around and drag out treatments so they can get the most out of your insurance. They dragged out treatment for my eyes for an extremely long time & when confronted about it, they blamed me. I changed offices and when they sent my file over, they also sent a copy of it to my home. They wrote about their personal feelings toward me & vented about their time treating me, in hopes to scare away the new optometrist. So immature and unprofessional. I definitely would not recommend them to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. Bad service. Bad treatment. Turns out they even gave me the wrong prescription. The new optometrist got my eye "problems" fixed and me seeing better within weeks.. While this was taking months & years with North Valley. Never again. Waste of time & money. If you're going to talk negatively about a customer in their file - do yourselves a favor & don't send a copy to said customer! read more

I have been coming to North Valley Optometry for three years to have my annual eye exam and get my yearly supply of contacts, and this is one of the best optometrist I have been to. The staff is caring and Dr. Ngo truly cares about your complete satisfaction with your new contacts. Over the last few years I have learnt to try and test different lenses to address my vision and to report my impression after a few days to find the perfect combination since I have both eyes totally out of synch and also suffer from astigmatism. You never feel rush or pressed and they are always looking after whatever rebate may apply to your yearly supply. The only thing that I would love they had was some of the more modern equipment to check your retina and do the peripheral vision tests that other doctors have, but other than that, this is a great place and I highly recommend it! read more

I came here to switch from hard contacts to soft contacts and Dr. Ngo explained to me the advantages and disadvantages of switching. Then I got a quick vision test and after, her staff patiently trained me on how to put them on and take them off. Overall, I had a great experience during the visit. The office itself is located in a pretty isolated location(near a deserted theater) which might be why not too many people come here. I have been going to Dr. Ngo since 1994. She has been my families Dr for years! My parents go to her, my brothers and sister and now I take my 4 children there as well. I've gone to Dr. Huynh for my vision care and what I like about her is that her examinations have been very thorough. I don't ever feel rushed when seeing her or Dr. Ngo as well. In addition, she's been very informative. I've learned a lot about eye care and I've been taking it more seriously as I now take breaks from starring at my work computer screen all day. When you exit 680 Berryessa, you can find the office in a white building next to the old century theater. I must say the staff has been super helpful and caring as they always take extra time to help me find frames because I have a large head... No laughing okay? Hahahaha They also showed me how to put on contacts for the first time! Lastly, I believe pricing is very reasonable in looking at all my statements. I pay very little out of pocket; I have vsp by the way.
