On Easter Sunday, I had brunch with two friends at Peppercorn Diner, and it turned out to be a lovely experience. The weather was beautiful, and the diner, nestled along a charming street, welcomed us warmly without any wait. The staff was kind and attentive, making us feel right at home. We each ordered something different to try a variety of dishes. I had the steak sandwich, which was hearty and satisfying. The steak was tender and juicy, perfectly complemented by the toasted bread and caramelized onions. It struck a great balance between richness and flavor without being too heavy for brunch. One of my friends ordered the ham omelet, which came with a generous filling of smoky ham and melty cheese. The eggs were fluffy and cooked just right, and the portion size was perfect. It had that comforting, homemade taste that makes you feel like you're eating in a cozy kitchen rather than a restaurant. But the crab cake benedict stole the spotlight. Served like a burger, it featured a golden, crispy crab cake that was both light and flavorful, topped with a creamy hollandaise sauce. We all agreed it was the best dish on the table--unique, delicious, and definitely worth coming back for. I ate at Peppercorn several times with friends. The experience was awful. Two of the servers were very rude. It feels like they don't care about their job and they don't want to be there. When I looked at my bill I found that I was over-charged. And then the second time I went I was over-charged again. The food is mediocre at most. Our waiter said that it was not a problem and continued to explain the menu. This menu has everything you could want for dinner. Items like turkey with mashed potatoes and stuffing or grilled pork chops with apple sauce. The ding room is pretty good size and could easily accommodate large group. The service was excellent and attentive and what was amazing to me is that it was never mentioned of things that were not available. The twin grilled pork chops were juicy and tender served with your choice of vegetables and salad. The turkey dinner was great and the turkey was not dry and of course with mashed potatoes and stuffing. This is a BYOB establishment and they have a discount if you want to purchase wine or beer at a neighboring business. The prices are very reasonable.

This weekend I decided to finally check it out. Spot Diner is located in the middle of a block, sandwiched between other store fronts. A blue awning is set over glass windows in the front. Even better, you can sit at a counter to the left, one of my favorite features of any diner. I wound up sitting at a booth and it was at an odd time (around 4PM) so it was not crowded. The waitress was there very quickly and she was very nice. The host was cool too. No issues at all with service. The interior of Spot Diner has clearly been renovated in recent time. You can tell at one time it probably looked more like a classic diner but since then the interior has been painted blue and grey (giving off a Greek restaurant vibe) and there are some nice paintings hanging on the walls. I was really there just for a snack so I wound up ordering French Toast (which was still available at this hour). It came out quickly and it was good! One of the challenges with French Toast at any restaurant cooking it thoroughly while not drying it out. Fortunately they did a great job here The outer edge had a nice bit to it while the middle was chewy and cooked properly. Butter and syrup were of course provided on the side. I enjoyed my visit to Spot and I hope to come back for a full, proper breakfast one day!
