I don't know if it had anything to do with me being Black, but we didn't have enough contact for me to have offended them for any other reason. The crust didn't really do anything for me though. The crust edges dry and doused with semolina. I would order pizza from Pepi's after a night of drinking. Decided to give this place a second try and ordered a chicken, bacon, ranch pizza through yelp/GrubHub. The app told me the pizza would be ready between 2:55-3:10. Then the app said the pizza was ready at 3:10. I walked over to Pepi's and the door was locked at 3:10. There were 3 folks in the kitchen that could see me, so I knocked on the door. The first lady made a hand motion of "no". Confused at why no one would come to the door, I tried calling their phone number to understand what the deal was. No one answered after a few tries and me visibly trying to reach them. I tried knocking again and pointing to the "order ready for pickup" on my phone. A second lady gave me the same "no" signal. Luckily another employee wearing a Pepi's shirt was walking in, so I asked him if he could check on the pizza yelp/grubhub claimed to be ready 15 min ago at this point. He mentioned they weren't opening until 3:30pm that day despite no notice on their door, website or ordering apps. He came back out a few min later and said they were working on the order. Eventually they unlocked the door and I was greeted by the unmasked cashier. Pizza was actually great, service was from the twilight zone. My heart wanted to support this local spot and give it a third try, so I did. Ordered a chicken broccoli Alfredo pizza. This time no pickup mishaps - pizza was ready when yelp claimed it was. Was again greeted by the standoffish unmasked cashier with another unmasked employee sitting at a table. Pizza was solid. May circle back once covid is under better control. I called the pizzeria multiple times, with them saying the driver is on the way and I'm very far from the pizzeria, when I live 6 minutes away driving. I read a lot of positive reviews and figured I'd try this place. I wasn't in the mood for pizza, but it's hard finding good buffalo chicken pizza, so we ordered that and some pasta. The buffalo chicken pizza was damn good, even reheated the next day. Will absolutely get this again. I'm sure their other pizzas must be good as well. It doesn't have hot sauce as a base, instead it has a small amount of pizza sauce, so when reheating it, I drizzled a little extra Franks Buffalo sauce on top before cooking. Not a criticism I just like mine a bit spicier. I love that they drizzle ranch across too, and the pieces of chicken were awesome. We also got broccoli Alfredo penne. This was also really good, and better than I expected. And was so hot when it was delivered I had to let it cool for a min. The Alfredo is a bit thicker, I think made with heavy ricotta, but very delicious. Also good reheated the next day. This will probably be my new go-to spot. Highly recommend. read more

It's really about the quality of the whole package: the crust, the sauce, the portions of the toppings. Pepsi's was AMAZING on all counts!
