Fabulous pizza and related fare. Whenever one sees a lot of working men lining up to order, it is generally a good sign. Sure sometimes the service can be a bit off, however they do it with grace, assuring one that the order will soon be ready. I do not expect the same wait staff attention as one receives at the Prime Rib (nor the $$$). I do expect excellent comfort food of decent quality and large quantity. I have yet to be disappointed.Now that there is chicken and large fries, ROFO has finally has been given some serious competition. The new dining room is comfortable if you wish to eat there. The spacious counter to order is also a nice upgrade. What they didn't improve: 50% of the time pieces of my order are missing. If it is a delivery they "might" come back in 2-3 hours. Thing is, either my family wants to eat together so we are not waiting 2 hrs for an order OR it is say the fries to go with subs. No good without the other. No apologies or freebies to make up for it. So I stopped deliveries. Now with carry out, same thing. I catch the big pieces missing but I miss the small ones, like no bacon on a BLT. The sandwich is there, didn't think to check for a key ingredient. I call and they tell me no charge back to Cc since I am not in person. It is too much effort really to deal when I want carryout. Food wise it is fine and the raw vegetables on their salads are consistently very very fresh. Like crazy yummy fresh. For salads alone I go to Pepe's. But, for other orders I go to Arlon's down the street. Not many mistakes and very quick turn around when a piece is missing. They behave like they enjoy my business (and my whole office orders from them too). Pepe's improved on speed in completing orders and overall the food is fine for a sub shop. Best white pizza I've ever had! I also enjoyed pepperoni pizza and sausage pizza, but if I want a large I go back to the white pizza. I don't like thin crust, so if that's your thing you won't like these tasty crusts but I love the flavor and texture. Individual slices are pricier of course, but sometimes I want to add a $2.50 slice of pepperoni pizza to my lunch order. I work in the area and parking and wait time is naturally longer when busiest 12:40-1:30, so I usually call my order ahead for takeout and drive down outside that time--arrive when parking in the lot near Tropicool is available and the food's almost ready. The sub special is a great value: their quite large "half" subs, a fountain drink or can, and fries for $8.99. I substitute the fries with curly fries and they're amazing! It's just hard to choose between the moist chicken parmigiana sub, flavorful meatloaf sub, or Philadelphia mushroom cheesesteak with everything. Portions are very large and filling, and I usually have some sub left for later. I've been trying to get other subs to try too, but it's hard when I know I love something! Trying other things also had one or two duds. My one milkshake was dense and bland and the fried chicken dry and tasteless. But everything else I've had so far is delicious and Pepes is my regular lunch spot! The sign about the sub special is no longer in the window, but I've never had any trouble ordering it and it's still available--it just has to be pick up or in store, not delivery. read more

The food is decent, but the staff is RUDE! I tried to place an order for delivery on a Sunday morning, and the guy taking orders over the phone was a complete a@@hole. After he finally got my order correct, he persisted to yell at me about how he had a line out the door and didn't have time to wait for my credit card #. When I asked to speak with a manager, he told me that HE WAS IT. No, thanks. I won't be ordering from Pepe's again. There are too many better pizza places in the area that offer far better service. The food here is good. I would say it is one of those places with "go to" items. Cheesesteaks are great, although not as good as they were at one point. Greek salad is on point. The pizza is good but nothing exceptional. Better than the papa johns and dominos situation, but not as good as some of the NYC unique style pizzas. Would absolutely recommend for lunch with co-workers and the like, fast dinner with friends or a solo carry-out/delivery type deal. Not recommended for a date spot. My running group has been meeting at Pepe's several times a year for a few years. We start our run from the restaurant and eat breakfast after. We've had an arrangement to either park in the back parking lot or across the street. This week, as we were gathering the owner told us that our presence would make the restaurant look too "busy" and we would drive the customers away. She also had folks move cars from the back parking lot. I guess she doesn't need the business of 50 hungry runners! Most of us live in the area, and after this bad experience I doubt any of us would return. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast across the street at "Bonjour", where we were warmly welcomed. read more

We used to get delivery and carryout here all the time. But I can echo a lot of the issues other reviewers have posted about, involving missing or incorrect food items and poor customer service. When a stromboli was left off our order they just denied that we had ever called it in. Then a manager suggested that next time I should ask for my order repeated on the phone to me and that it was loud there. I have an idea sir, move the phone out of the loud part of the restaurant. Or tell your own employees to ask customers to repeat their order. This type of thing has happened to me many times before and this is just the last straw for me. The pizza is GREAT. The other items that I have tried are *just* a little better than mediocre. But one thing that is consistent is the poor customer service. The young millennials who work there act like they're doing you a favor by "letting" you spend your money there. The older (i.e. more mature) ladies in the front are worse. They are unfriendly--bordering on rude. Zero customer service skills. After waiting for 30 minutes for a ($6) bacon and egg sandwich, and after watching numerous customers come and go, I asked one of them to check with the kitchen on my order. Her reply was "they'll just tell me: 'it's coming.' Well...5 minutes later (for a total of 35 minutes), my sloppily made sandwich came up. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I have been a regular customer ordering once a week for almost two years. We love to support family owned businesses. However, 99% of the time we order for delivery, it is wrong. Whether something is missing, or extra condiments are added, or hair in the food (I have never seen the people in the kitchen wear hair nets), something is always wrong. In early July my order was completely wrong and I was unable to eat it. I asked for a refund and was told I would receive one by the owner. After I followed up a few times I received a partial refund. When I asked for a the remaining refund I was told it would be done that same day. I followed up every week for over a month and each time I was told, by the owner, that is would be done Immediately. After over a month I told him this was getting ridiculous, that his business has gone completely down hill, and he needed to do better to fix it. He had the audacity to respond "wow. I have bent over backwards to make you happy. Do not contact me again." Someone please explain to me how me having to follow up every week for over a month is him bending over backwards? By the way, I never received the refund. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Food is delicious A) when they don't give you someone else's order and B) when they get it right. Pizza is fanastic, pizza burger sub is top notch, etc. Service is VERY hit and miss. It seems like they've hired all the local private school kids who just want to be able to tell people they have a job but really don't need a job because mommy and daddy are still paying the bills which makes them apathetic to customers and making sure the orders are right. As mentioned by others parking is horrendous. I think if the employees there were assigned certin tasks instead of just running around like chickens with their heads cut off things would improve there. read more

Good food, but extremely rude employees... It takes away from the dining experience immensely. I had just finished my lunch. As I was about to leave, I thought that my kids would like the food here. I asked in a very friendly manner, "Do you have a take-out menu?" An older looking lady at the counter replied in an astonishingly hostile manner, "NO I DO NOT"! You know what lady, I don't really care!! This will be my first and last time here! Don't stress yourself, and thanks for nothing! I can never understand how owners and/or managers allow this kind of behavior from employees towards customers. With so many negative comments here about the rude customer service, it is truly astonishing that the owner does not take notice and attempt to rectify the situation. Maybe tonight was just an off night but the philly cheesesteak was not the what I was expecting after reading such rave reviews. It was not bad, but just not "amazing" or at close the best cheesesteak I have had in Baltimore. In addition, their pizza was just average. Granted, I am a native new yorker so my expectations for pizza are likely biased. On the positive side, their customer service was good and they had speedy delivery. read more

The worst customer service over the phone. I order delivery occasionally and every single time have had the same experience. The employees answering the phone first of all have a really hard time understanding basic orders. They rush you off the phone and you are left hoping they got your order right. Paying with a card is a feat and you are an inconvenience if you choose to do so. It really is a shame because the food is awesome and the delivery drivers are always very nice. I'm in customer service and would not have a job if I spoke or ingnored or seemed bothered by a customer paying for service!! For the price the food is decent but I've been to much better places throughout the city/county. I do have to say that the older staff there are some of the most unpleasant people I have every had to deal with in food service. The younger kids/adults are great but man some of those older people need some lessons in manners and customer service. Oh and don't try any of the items labeled as Greek or Specialty. This visit will go down as one of the most miserable lunches I've ever had. We should have run when the server asked my husband what sort of dressing usually comes on a Caesar salad. But foolishly, we stuck it out. I ordered what I believed to be a salad with turkey. What came out was the largest pile of mystery meat swimming in mayonnaise. When I expressed my disappointment, I was told they could swap it out for chicken -- for a charge. This message was delivered by the server who I watched use the refrigerator as a step stool, placing the sole of her dirty tennis shoe on the shelf where food is stored. Not a great impression. I admit, I wasn't nice when I stormed out, but the lack of concern about food safety and missing menu descriptions, combined with little regard for costumer satisfaction, makes Pepe's a definite no for me.
