This time I ordered just a simple Chicken Cheese sub I asked for mayo, wet red hots , lettuce and tomato. Oh please toast roll. I think I got a half of slice of cheese , very little mayo no hots and no tomato.The sandwich is very dry with no taste. Good quantity food with an okay quality. I had gotten their cheese ravioli, one of their few vegetarian options, and it was one of the more soupy americanized red sauce cheese raviolis. It was also served with a generously sized cheesy garlic bread (that probably had a bit too much butter on it). The wait after order was made was rather long given the item ordered and that the place wasn't particularly crowded. I think given the location and size of the place, it is 3.5 stars; compared to other restaurants, it would probably be closer to 2-3 stars. Felt like checking out the other side of the street today. I was looking for a sub and found good options here after checking out three other places that didn't appeal to me. I ordered the pepper steak and it was good. don't plan to eat in. even if one of the four tiny tables is free, it's an unpleasant atmosphere; dark, grungy and you'd be crowded by all the patrons waiting in line. there are not a lot food options in this area and if you have an extended stay at Hopkins like I did, it's good enough for a change of pace. read more

I have only tried their gyro special offer. Beef Gyro tastes good.. A bit too much of the fresh onions though. The fries side comes in a huge portion big enough for two to share, same thing for the soda. Walked in here for the first time a couple days ago while I was still recovering from a birthday hangover. The menu is extensive- lots of subs, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and fried goodies. They also carried baked goods (cheescake, pie, etc) in the display case next to the grill. In my delicate state I was a little confused but eventually figured out that this place is really low key. You simply call our your order to the fry cook who looks the least occupied. The gentleman who took my order was proactive and very friendly and helpful. Then you scoot down to the other end of the store and pay for your order and snatch a drink. I can see how this system would slow down a lot when a busy crowd comes in- between two cooks processing all orders as they come up it can probably be a wait although I got my order in around 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken parmesean sub because lets face it, when I can get chicken parm in a pinch for 8.00 including a drink I TAKE IT. I had to hibernate here for an hour while waiting for my cousin who was tied up with a training, and I was not asked to leave (even tho I looked a hot mess). All in all this place is chill and next time I run by I am DEFINITELY taking advantage of the less-than-two-bucks order of french fries. read more

As I work nearby, this place along with the market has been a lunchtime favorite. The spinach pie is good when in a pinch for food, it's home made, by the mother of the two guys that run it infact, and is quite delictable. Pizza wise, okay, not great, but not bad. For subs I've always gotten the cheeseburger sub and haven't been dissapointed with it. On a whole the portions are generous, and prices not bad. The scenery not the best, bc of the location it can draw a dicy crowd. So like the airport, if some one asks you to hold on to a bag for them, it's best to say no. read more

Being that my mother worked directly across the street from this place, I found myself in the crowded line more than a few times waiting to get a cheese fish sandwich with everything no hots. The food is good and the prices are reasonable for the large portions that you get. The crowd is definitely mixed. I work at JHSPH and first went to Mama Mia's yesterday with the girls from my office. The cheese steak sub I ordered was the BOMB. So good, I actually went back today and got another one (I feel guilty but life is too short to deprive yourself) and today's experience was equally good. the chicken cheese steaks are made of real chicken breast and the fries were good, very similar to McD's. I have yet to try anything else, but the salad in the case looked really, really fresh like it was cut this morning and the pieces of cake are HUGE and look home-made. The owner and his mother make an awesome team for this little homestyle joint. And the other guys working the grill are also very friendly and on-point.
