Popped in on a Saturday evening with some family and ordered a large pizza, side Caesar salad, and order of fries for dine in. The salad and pizza were ready within 10 minutes. Caesar salad was your typical pizzeria salad, basic but good. My family loved the pizza. I thought it was just okay, but to be fair, the slice I grabbed had the cheese sliding off, which made it a little annoying to eat. It wasn't until after we finished the pizza when we realized we were still missing our fries. They showed up a couple minutes later, piping hot, but it would've been nice to have them with the rest of the food. Very friendly staff here. One time I got blocked in the parking lot by a food delivery driver and the entire restaurant of patrons and staff jumped into investigative mode. A unified collaborative effort to find the driver so I could leave. If only our current political leaders could be so considerate of others. This visit I was able to enjoy a Philly Cheesesteak Sub chocked full of tasty steak, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, peppers and hots. Yummers! It was YUGE so I took half home to enjoy later. My family came to visit and wanted to grab lunch near the place we take our dog to the vet (convenience thing). After doing some searching, my sister-in-law selected Pepe's. I was glad it is locally owned and independent with a huge menu but...I wasn't really expecting much. My kids had just played soccer so we went all in. I'm talking pizza, fries, two pastas and a vegan sandwich (for me). The kids inhaled their fries. The one or two I was able to sneak seemed well done. I expected them to start with the pizza but they went with the pasta. We ordered baked ziti and penne with red sauce and my kids, who are quite picky with pasta, ate multiple bowls of the penne while my wife did the same with the ziti. The sizes were so big, we took the rest home and the kids had it for multiple meals. The pizza, when they finally started on it, was similarly a hit. For the vegan sandwich, I ordered their veggie sub and asked for it with no dairy. They grilled up (or included) eight different veggies. Onions, mushrooms, peppers and lettuce were half of them. I'm blanking right now on the other four. The sub roll had a bit of oil oozing from it and the bread was toasted. Man, this was a good sandwich. Not the type that has me dreaming for weeks after but close. We had our dog with us so I walked him in the parking lot (too hot to leave in the car) and one of the kitchen staff came out and asked if they could give him some pepperoni. He then feed him a couple and then gave me a handful to take a long to feed him later. While I wasn't expecting much when I entered Pepe's, I left very impressed with their food and service. Pepe's is a staple from my childhood that I am so happy is still in business today! The menu has classic subs and breakfast platters that are all homestyle and satisfying. My boyfriend and I ordered the shrimp salad sub, a cheesesteak, and we split the pizza fries. The shrimp salad is hands down the best in Baltimore, and I love shrimp salad! You can order it as a sandwich or sub, but the sub give you a TON of shrimp salad. It's not too mayonnaise-y and has nice crispy celery. Pro tip: ask for the sub on the side so it doesn't soak through your sub for takeout! The cheesesteak is a classic and everything is perfectly cooked. My boyfriend added mushrooms to his and noted they were plentiful and tasty. The pizza fries are a Pepe's classic- fries smothered in pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese, then baked. Some of the best pizza in the area and one of a very few where you can get it by the slice. What distinguishes them is the sauce. Plus they are generous with the toppings. Takeout service is fast. S&P was nowhere to be seen in my order. Upon a recommendation, I opted to try a 'Rachel', Not a Reuben but a Rachel (Turkey version of a Reuben) w/ Cole slaw (in lieu of sauerkraut), Swiss cheese and Thousand island dressing. DELICIOUS!!! SCORE! Granted? This was NOT on the menu at all. I asked for it... and glad I did bc I was PERFECT!!! Onion rings - Now, these normally flavorful ringlets, were hard as rocks. The Breading was like glass. It was a generous serving and the rings were really a nice size but... all that was missing was some S&P and removing them from the oil or from under the heating lamp sooner and these would have been BANGERS!!! Would have made the rings amazing ... CRIME! Chili - OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!!! Everything here should have this much of a flavor profile to it. Huge chunks of beef. Seasoned really well. SCORE! Jumbo Buffalo wings (fried hard) - delicious. SCORE! Fried chicken - These looked fresh, hit & juicy... but incredibly flavorless. What a waste of a good fry. All that was needed was some S&P. A mouse ran out of the bathroom as I was eating my egg and bacon sandwich on wheat toast, and then it proceeded to run under my table. My office placed a lunch order yesterday, they raved about breakfast but so many choices I missed the cut off time. So lunch it was! I choose the shrimp salad with lettuce tomatoes on a Kaiser roll. The shrimp salad was simply amazing!!! Shrimp were large and steamed to perfection, the dressing had just enough kick and crunch without being overbearing with Old Bay seasoning. The Kaiser roll was a bit smashed, guess from tight wrap to keep all the shrimp on the bun? Pepe's is great for a casual breakfast (served until 1pm) and also good for families with kids. In our family of three, one of us is gluten free, one doesn't like eggs, one is four years old. There is something for each of us (omelet served with hash browns--I give the toast to my kiddo, bagel with meat and cheese, and side of bacon are our go to choices respectively, our kiddo likes the pancake too). The portions are generous enough to share with a small child. You aren't going to get anything fancy, but you are going to get consistently yummy, quickly prepared, fresh food. Had a last minute dinner at Pepe's Friday night. Ordered their old bay wing poppers with fries. Wings were good but a little heavy on the old bay seasoning. Visiting from out of town and needed a place with good variety of food including gluten free options (for someone with celiac) and this was the place! Got one regular pizza which was east coast fantastic (in Utah we don't have great pizza options) and also a gluten free crust pizza (very good) in addition to a Greek salad with chicken (delicious). And it's not just that the pizza was gluten free but that it was in a separate clean pan and was not cross contaminated which was the case so all was good! Service was good and timely. Last night I had too much to drink and today I needed unpretentious food to replenish my soul. I stopped in to Pepe's between meetings and was greeted with a genuine smile. "Tuna. Sub. Fries. Yea, I'll do a combo." I was given a number and sauntered into the dining room where my food quickly arrived in the arms of a goddess who really deserved the title "runner" in restaurant jargon. Boy oh boy, that was some good tuna. 5 points for dank sub rolls 4 points for dat all white premium tuna fish 3 points for c-c-c-c-comboooooos less than $10!! 2 points for cleanliness and friendliness 1 point for the exchange of money for calories. My hangover is now cured and all people named Tito are officially off my bad list while all people named Pepe have greatly increased in my heart. 2 things that could be better: Some solo dining spaces, I felt like a jerk taking a booth to myself. Don't bother anymore. Once great but food now may or may not be in the order, and food was cold. Last night, we ordered a crab cake sandwich with a small order for pick up. Once getting it home, we realized it wasn't included (not the first time something was missing). We called back and were told it would be delivered to us once a driver was available. It never showed up. The next day I called. I was told it would be refunded or another delivered (18 hours late). When i told the manager how frustrated I was and that i intended to write a review, i got a whole lecture on how they'd been in business 40 years etc and it was bad employees. Well I know that, they were once great and bad employees mean a bad business. Just don't bother anymore. There are better crab cakes at Maria's and better service pretty much anywhere else. Still has the best pizza in the area, drive out of my way from Towson to still come to Pepes. They completely redid the entire restaurant, separating it from the ordering/takeout area and added in a lot more parking. The food hasn't changed in 20+ years, which I appreciate as it's the pizza and subs I grew up eating. For lighter fare, the chicken Caesar or the Greek chicken wrap are healthier but also filling options. read more

UPDATED 3/25/22: So I ordered a pizza, spanakopita, kids meals, western fries and baklava to go. It was a Tuesday at 4pm. Ordering online was seamless. When I picked it up, everything I ordered was there and we were served right away. The staff I interacted with were courteous and helpful. Food was good. Everyone liked the pizza and the spanakopita was tasty and crispy. The kids enjoyed their crispy chicken tenders and fries. The western fries were kinda mushy and bland - it needed a lot of salt and pepper. The baklava was not as crispy as I would like but it was tasty. Overall, my experience at Pepe's has improved from the last time I was there. I'd be curious to see if the food quality and service is the same during a busier time. read more

I love that you can specify the cook on your pizza - I opt for well-done. Sort of expensive, but I get three meals out of this order.
