Came here for an oil change today. They took over 2 hrs to get it done. The only reason I got it out that 'early' was bc I called, and spoke to a guy named Jay, to ask if my car was done yet after 1.5 hrs of the car just sitting in the parking lot. Of course, they told me they had not started yet. When I asked to speak to the manager, Leo, he literally told me he wasn't going to sit there and argue with me. I was merely voicing my frustration with the fact that they were taking so long for an oil change. Not once did he try to rectify the situation. This was after they had me on hold for about 15 min waiting to talk to the manager and not once did they move the car. I told him,'the only reason you guys are starting now is bc I called.' Been here twice. Didn't really like the first time. I only came back cause it was close to my home. I was helped by Adolfo on my second visit. Was very impressed. I was always kept updated. Every 10 mins he would pass by and tell me on how the service was progressing; made sure my concens were addressed. Excellent customer care. Service was also timely. I had to get my battery replaced today and I've never been to a pep boys; I normally just go to the dealer to get things done on my car. I called before and the man on the phone, known as Terrence, recognized me as soon as I walked in and was SO helpful. The mechanic, I didn't catch his name, was also very helpful and didn't treat me like an idiot. I run into men who will try to hike up the price on my car services only because they assume I have no idea what I'm talking about. I was pleased that they both treated me with ample respect. The so called technicians at this Pep Boys are so dishonest beyond disbelief; my son took his car with an obvious leaky hose. He was advised to leave the car for a while so that they could check the car. After a couple of hour they call me with a major list of repairs that were not needed, I told them that the only repair needed was the replacement of the water pump by-pass hose, when I ask them to replace the hose they refuse saying that it was not guaranteed to fix the problem. The total for the item they listed was $980 which is absolutely ridiculous. I drove my car to a local mechanic and he fixed the hose for $200. These dishonest technicians wanted to over charge me $780 extra. Don not go to this place, it's a real shame how dishonest this business is. read more

Very Disappointed, I came in to the shop and told them I have a tire that leaks and I am putting air in it in past 2 weeks. And They offered me an oil change so I said yes. I went and had lunch across the street that had amazing customer service and food and cane back. They said your car is ready. I asked did you guys patch the tire ? The assistant manager said they check the tire and there was nothing found and I am good to go. I was shocked, I said how is that possible? Let me talk to the technician. They brought this guy and I asked how did you check it? He said I checked and there was no nail. I couldn't believe it. I am like did you dip it in water to see if there is an leaks? I made an online appointment three days in advance for a Sunday morning at 9 am because my car AC quit working. I confirmed the appointment by phone the day before. Both online and on the phone I clearly explained what the problem was. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that their only AC technician doesn't work on Sunday. The manager (Ben) indicated that the online appointment system is not integrated with the technicians' schedule (sic) and he wasn't sure whom I had talked to on the phone. Why do they offer an online appointment system if they don't bother review it? Eventually the manager called other locations and sent me to the Granada Hills one, where I waited two hours just to have the car looked at. read more

My 2016 Ford Focus is under maintenance program that is affiliated with Pep Boys so I took it to this place to do the regular oil change, tire rotation and couple of other basic items. Last time after the tires were rotated, the car started to make loud humming sound coming from the tires especially on the fwys so I took the car back next day to rotate the tires back in original positions so they did and the noise was gone. This time to make sure it won't happen again, I told Ed at service desk to check the tires and rotate them right and he said he would. I dropped off the car at 12:45pm and Ed told me that he would call me back. I didn't receive any calls so I called back at 5:15pm and he said the car is ready and he told me that he was trying to call me and must have dialed the wrong number. How could that be right? I went to pick up the car and the other young man signed me off and I told him that if the car would make noise again I might have to bring it back. I asked him if he could find any remarks about the tire rotation in job order and he didn't find anything in the system. I also have to believe that Ed didn't bother to note down anything about the tires even though I repeatedly told him about it. I test drove the car and right away immediately felt the rough humming sound coming back again so I went right back. They both looked pretty upset to see me of course and I asked(nicely) if they could just put the tires back the way they were yesterday and Ed said "NO". He suggested that they'd have to check the suspension and do the visual inspection etc and I know it is not necessary. The car was fine until tires were rotated and I just got it from the dealer less than 2 months ago. Also he said it couldn't be done today even if I wanted to. It was around 6pm and they close at 8pm and it would take less than 10 mins to rotate the tires. And there was one car in the garage and parking lot was empty. There was no one else in the building except the employees. According to time stamp on the invoice, the mechanic signed off the car at 13:36pm and what was Ed doing until I called him at 5:15pm? Since they were not willing to help in anyway, I told them that I would review on Yelp with one star and here I am. I took the car to near by tire shop on that I used to go and explained the guy the situation. He looked at the tires and said he needed the switch the tires left and right. Supposedly the tires need to be rotated in certain patterns. Also 2 nails were found in one tire. How come people at Pep Boys didn't find the nails? They were supposed to do visual inspections according to maintenance program and apparently it was not the case. I didn't see any remarks in the 3-page long invoice saying anything about the nails. He finished patching up the tire and rotations in few mins. It cost me $30 and I drove off for test drive. The car drove as quite as it could be, just like coming out of the dealer lot. It is ashamed that big national store like Pep Boys could not figure out such small issues and local mom-and-pop tire guy fixed that in 5 mins. In car repair business, every case is not going to be straight forward, smooth-sailing as you want to be. Some problems could be tricky and you should be willing to help the customers with your knowledge, attention, patience and professional manner and it was not the case during my visit to Pep Boys in Reseda. This is the worst place ever!!!!i made an appointment for 10am and once I got there they told me I had to wait one hour to be help so I asked if they can also log in my wife's car we made an appointment at 11am for her and I did not want to wait another hour and she said yes but once my wife arrived they told her it would be A 3 to 4 hour wait. The service here is terrible. Eddy was a useless mechanic. They tell you something will take 30-45 mins and next thing you know 2 hours later and not a word. It took me being obnoxious and flagging the guy down for him to tell me the car was ready. Not very helpful on what the problem was, just that I could change the brakes and see what happens. I took my car and left. Upon entering the car, I noticed this oil stain left by one of the mechanics. Dirty, rude, and unorganized shop. It was my first time servicing an oil change at Pep Boys and had set my appointment at 4pm and came to Pep boys at 3:30pm because one of my friends told me it's going to take an hour even if it's just an oil change. I have a meeting at 6:30pm so I made sure that I have enough time. After I dropped off my car, I decided to eat out and just come back. I came back at 5:30pm and they still HAVE NOT fixed my car! I told them I have a meeting and need to be done by 6 and they said they will do it right away. It is 6:24pm and still they have not finished. Today I took my husband's car to Costco Tire Center to be inflated. One tire in particular looked semi-deflated. The technician who checked them told me the tires were almost 4 years old and would need to be changed soon. I was very surprised he said that because we had them changed a little over 2 years ago, in June 2015 (see my original review). Then I realized he must have meant that the tires were manufactured almost 4 years ago, despite us only getting them some 2 years ago from Pep Boys. In other words, they gave us old tires that must have sat in their warehouse for a long, long time. This probably explains why they presented it as a good deal and gave us a discount. Got there 10 mins early for a brake inspection and oil change. 9:15 am rolls around and my car is still sitting in parking lot. I noticed that there was one guy only working on a vehicle. I asked the service writer how much longer and he, in a not so nice way, said soon. Then I see a guy go pull another vehicle into the bay and I thought this was ridiculous. I have already wasted an hour and a half,so I went in and told him to cancel. Considering there was only one guy out there taking care of cars you would think that this service guy would of said something to the people waiting, but no he did not...bad customer service. The assistant manager here (Carlos) knows less than his employees. It's a fact. I needed a bunch of parts to get 2 motorcycles running again. I thought I could get it all done at Pep Boys as well as test the bike batteries in case they were dead. Since all auto parts stores don't have testers, I called to verify that they could. If they couldn't, I was close enough to pop right in and get everything else I needed. If they could, I'd run home first and grab my batteries. I spoke to Carlos the assistant manager on the phone and he assured me that they could. So I went home and grabbed the batteries and went back. Once I was in the stores with a couple of batteries every single person there told me without a doubt that they don't do that. Turns out the assistant manager was having language barrier issues. That frustrated me because you have a host of dudes that were knowledgeable working all around him supporting his higher rank when it seemed like one of them deserved it more. From my knowledge an oil change should not take longer than 30 minutes especially with an appointment. And besides that she forget to tell the mechanics about my car until 30 mins I was here & she didn't even know the type of oil in my car, literally took her a good 45 mins to figure that out. read more

After moving here the couple of Pep Boys locations that I went to all try to rip me off and provide a terrible service so I stopped going to Pep Boys and avoided them for the last three years. Sonia C. Deserves a RAISE! I had my starter go out on me leaving me stranded and having to get towed to my local pep boys on Reseda and from start to finish Sonia helped me with every question and every detail of the service. I called sooo many times with a new question all day probably driving her and everyone there insane. But Sonia was so polite every time I called with questions. I was trying to save a little loot because this is not a necessarily a cheap fix but after doing a ton of research and seeing what my options were, I felt comfortable having these guys fix the problem. The entire staff there is really helpful and timely. I appreciate all Sonias help, she works hard and helped me thoroughly. To be fair I want to update my scathing review. The manager and the customer service department did follow up with me and did offer me a good discount on a future purchase. I can honestly say that in hindsight the local Pep Boys team did its best to right the situation. The problem still lies at the corporate level, leaving the staff with its hands tied. So, thank you to the Pep Boys manager and to the customer service department for doing your best to help me in the aftermath of this embarrassing situation. I came here today to have my battery replaced. I was greeted warmly by a customer service technician who took my information, and assisted me very quickly and efficiently. I must say his manner was noticeably kind and polite, as were the other young men who assisted me. There was a comfortable air conditioned lobby were I waited a short time until the work was done. I requested the lowest price battery available as my budget is very tight. They gave me a great deal, lower than I even expected! I can't express how grateful I am to this place. Upfront, he told me he will check my car and if it is electrical problem he won't be able to fix it because the guy who deals with this quit a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately, it wasn't. I usually don't come to this location because it's not close to my house, but I was in the area at the time. I came for a simple vehicle inspection. The process went fairly quick and I had no issues at all. I spent a good 25 minutes there from start to finish. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because of the customer service. The experience I had during the inspection was okay. But when I initially went to check in, I was not greeted, I waited a few minutes to even be acknowledged and I finally said something. He just walked right by me and went behind the counter. Not a huge deal but customer service is a big part of a company especially if you are the first face we see. The employee who guided me to where to go when I walk in didn't greet me either. I had to walk to the counter as he stared at me and ask Him where to go.
