A few months ago my vehicle HUD was non responsive and after visiting many shops to have it resolved they never fully resolved the issue. On top of that they had charged me an inspection fee. My most recent visit was a great example of this. I needed a new belt put on my alternator. I purchased the belt myself and took it in and they had it on within 5 minutes. On top of that they checked my oil and used a solution to help with the corrosion that had built up on my battery without me even mentioning it. My family and I have been going to Creative Auto for around 30 years, and I would never go anywhere else. Jim and his son Lyle (and Co) are the most honest and trustworthy guys we know. They've worked on all of our cars which have ranged from Subarus to Toyotas to Mitsubishis to Fords and Hondas, and others, every time treating our vehicles as if they were their own. They never tell you something is needed when it's not and always try to find deals on parts to help save on cost. I recently bought a 2010 Toyota Prius and the dealership wanted $600 to do a minor tune up. They also told me I needed new spark plugs and that the hybrid battery (which had been serviced in January, 2017) needed a new filter. Say what?! An AC recharge was ~$200 and oil change was close to $150. No way. Jim and Lyle did exactly what was needful on my car and it runs beautifully, as our cars always do once they're done with them. I recently bought a used GMC in San Diego and was experiencing issues with the performance of the car. When speaking to the dealership they directed me to Rydell and said I needed them to diagnosis and decide if it would be under the warranty. The service tech would text me the minimal details and state it wasn't under warranty and would cost nearly $1200 to replace battery cable wires, etc. But that the fee would cover parts and labor and it may be even more stuff once they go through it. I was not feeling right about any of this and through a referral I went with my gut and brought it to Lyle. Between the initial phone call and coming by to look at it, I felt like my concerns were being addressed and was assured they would take care of me. If I was going to pay out of pocket, I was going to support the Pop&Son shops during these times. Fast forward..... picked up my vehicle and gladly paid an invoiced fee of $175.00 1 cable to fix!!!! It is exceptionally hard to find a mechanic that will work on your car at 4:00pm in a Friday, but these guys stepped up! They are very friendly and professional. They got the job done promptly and did a great job. They even let me put my cheese (which I purchased on the way) in their fridge so that it wouldn't spoil. Today was a good day. Creative was recommended to me my a friend. He said they were honest, communicative, and knew their stuff. I'm so happy I took his advice. For the first time in ages I felt really good leaving my car with a mechanic. I just got home and after some drama with another shop, pulling up stakes mid fix is hard, but I didn't want to throw good money after bad. I'd bite the bullet and switch doctors. Edris took me in today as a walkin at 7;45. The doors were open and they were up and running. I always take a look around a new shop, and this one was clean and organized. Edris explained my issues along with my choices including timelines. He didn't try to scare me, but I believe serving the customer was in my best interest.
