The Unicorn Store - holiday window

The Unicorn Store

(7 reviews)

The Unicorn Store is down an alley way (I guess you can say behind Sephora). I have always wanted…read moreto visit this store because it just peaked my interest but have only visited Old Town Pasadena at night, after they were closed. But this past Sunday, my husband, our little girl dog and I finally got a chance to visit since we were visiting Old Town Pasadena during the afternoon. When we walked in, we were greeted by an employee behind the register at the back of the store. This store is very cute and really would be a little girl's dream because of all the unicorns, pink, glitter and sparkle. I ended up purchasing a mermaid coloring book for my nieces to add to their Christmas gifts that I have for them, but not sure if they are even into mermaids (and my husband doesn't seem to know either if they are or if they are into unicorns. These little girls change their interests so often it is hard to keep up). But I'd love to take them to this store and see if they would want anything (and knowing me, I would most likely let them each pick out one item and I would purchase it for them). Overall, I really enjoyed my shopping visit and would come back for gifts in the future (maybe could also find a fun white elephant gift or a secret santa gift in here too).

I went to The Unicorn Store recently with a pal recently. I like the unicorn theme of the store. I…read moreliked a dragon plushie I saw on a shelf. Some books also stood out to me.

Serafina

A Slice of Shopping Heaven in San Marino…read more Serafina is less of a boutique and more of a retail paradise where the fashion angels sing and the decor whispers, "Go on, treat yourself." Nestled in the heart of San Marino, just a stone's throw from Pasadena, it's the kind of place that makes you feel like royalty--no tiara required. Upon entering, it's clear this is no ordinary clothing emporium. The mix of designers is so carefully curated, I half expected to find a gallery label next to the Nili Lotan display. And with threads by Sea NY and Helmut Lang hanging around, you're not just shopping; you're adding to your art collection. The handbags? They've got more personality than a reality TV star. Shoes that make Cinderella's glass slipper look like a flip-flop. Fine jewelry that has you sparkling brighter than the twinkle in your eye. And let's not forget the gift items--because who doesn't love presents? But wait, there's more! A children's boutique so adorable, even your little ones will want to extend playtime to dress-up time. With names like Splendid and Ella Moss, your kids are walking out of there runway-ready for the sandbox catwalk. Sipping on Pellegrino while the staff, who are more like your personal fashion consultants, cater to your every need? Check. Enjoying a cappuccino as you peruse luxury labels? Double check. Feeling as comfortable as if you were lounging in your own living room? Well, if your living room was a casually chic sanctuary of style, then yes--triple check! If Serafina were a song, it'd be a symphony of style, luxury, and comfort. So next time you're in San Marino and need a dose of retail therapy, float on into Serafina and float out like the fashion deity you truly are.

I recently moved to the area from Brentwood and was excited…read moreto see a cute shop with a nicely curated selection of some of my favorite brands like Xirena and Saloni, they also have a nice selection of home items like candles and hostess gifts. I hate giving 2 stars, but in this instance my two stars go for the low level of customer service. No one greets you when you walk in (I've been a few times), no one asks to hold your items at the counter when they see you holding an armful of items, when I ask for a size they say that's all they have and can't be bothered to say they can order it for you or provide alternatives. This store seems to cater to the white and 60+ set (that's all there was at the store both times I've visited) and if you don't fit that demographic, they don't care you'll be dropping $5-600. I wanted to support a local business but I rather make the drive back to the country mart than give my money to a shop that does not value all of their shoppers. Perhaps I expect too much out of my shopping experience, but now more than ever (pandemic) I want my limited entries to shops to be memorable. I don't want to think "oh, I had a shitty time when I bought this $400 dress".

Abercrombie & Fitch - Clean store interior!

Pretty organized store in Old town Pasadena. I came here because I've been hearing some hype about…read moretheir jeans and I wanted to give it a try myself. The place is pretty organized. At the time that I was there, they were having a clearance sale. I ended up walking out with a pair of pants which I'm excited to wear. I've purchased some jeans online as I wasn't sure at the time what I wanted. Great thing about that, is if you do find some jeans online and the price is cheaper online vs in store, they will price match.

I remember when these stores were stuffed into junky malls and added to an even trashier vibe,…read moreobnoxious edm, half naked staff spreading out front during Christmas, and hilariously vulgar posters lined across tall gray walls with white thick frames. Abercrombie my you have grown up, found a relaxed and casual fashion buffet ripe for the appetite. My buddy and I both enjoyed the huge women's selection. He got a birthday gift for his wife. Didn't take me near as long to browse the lesser end of the store but to all surprise and chances, after a year of looking for that denim jacket that doesn't scream cowboy or cost as much as a leather bomber, the magic! I brought a forty buck blue cotton jean jacket back 1600 miles and still feeling good about that wildly long wait for a simple wear paid off more than I could imagine in California. The staff is so fun here. They lined up both up with simple mobile payments options without a tacky screen. I bet they'll be walking around next just handing us checkout taps as we wonder the store. It's still that smart A&F, modern, crisp, and somehow also old school and timeless.

i think this is my favorite miniso location i pop in here…read morewhenever i am in the area i was wandering around old pasadena to let time pass before heading to my next commitment it was sunday, so the shops did not open til 11am i was looking for the sanrio characters afternoon tea blind boxes i did not see any on the sales floor so i decided to ask even tho the answer would be no i asked the employee and he thought about it and said i think we do but it is upstairs whaatttt???? i am never this lucky!! he brought down the entire box, i wanted to set all 6 but no no i just couldnt i grabbed two, for my friend and i to open together the price was $29.99/each service was cool bc he was able to bring down the entire box parking: there is metered street ($1.25/hr) or parking garage starts at $1.00/2hrs

Before heading to a Yelp Elite event nearby, I decided to pop into Miniso to kill some time and…read morehonestly, it was a pretty solid stop overall. This location is a bit smaller than some of the other Miniso stores I've visited, but they still had a good variety of products, and it was fun browsing through everything and checking out how the store was laid out. I even came across some blind boxes I hadn't seen at other locations, which was a nice surprise. Of course I had to grab one especially since I finally got to use my 20% off birthday reward for the first time! I'll admit, I was a little bummed because I had just missed out on their previous birthday freebie (a blind box up to $25!), but I still appreciated having a discount to use. Checkout is where things felt a little off. After giving my phone number for rewards, I asked if I could use my birthday coupon. The cashier asked, "Which one?" which confused me since I thought there was only one available promo at the moment. She then asked to see the barcode, and while I pulled it up pretty quickly, she started helping another customer and asked me to step aside. I didn't mind doing that at all, but it did leave me standing there ready to go for a minute. Once she saw I was set, she helped me at another register and finished the transaction without any issues. Overall, I wouldn't say the service was bad just a little awkward in that moment. I'd definitely still come back, especially if I'm in the Pasadena area again. It's a great spot to browse, find cute items, and pick up something fun when you've got time to spare.
