I have visited this establishment before, and I had a great experience then, and I'm having a good one now as well. I love that they offer a "combo of the month," which features a monthly subscription that comes with fries and a drink. This month, the featured sub is the Philly cheese steak with banana peppers. I am not a fan of banana peppers, so I asked them to remove this item for me. It did come with marinara sauce, which was a new twist, but it was good, so I appreciated it. I also love their hand-cut, cooked-to-order fries. Fries are always delicious, but even more so when they are hand-cut. That's why, in the photo of my food, you see malt vinegar. I love pairing malt vinegar with hand-cut fries. As you can see in another photo, they also have some outside eating that will be lovely in the coming months, as it warms up for summer here in North Carolina. Majority of the time there is still a wait, even though you've ordered ahead on the app. The times when the food was actually ready, no one really seems to ask/greet or say what you're there for - so food just sits. I really like their subs in general but may not go back to this location. The last time I picked up an order (still waited) I noticed the employee wasn't using gloves (I know many restaurants don't but mostly sandwich shops like these do). Got a quick lunch from Penn Station recently. True to their name, they serve up a good Philly for a "fast food" spot. They were definitely understaffed, as the food took a while to come out, but it was nice to know it was made to order and not just microwaved. Terrible Experience. It looked like they weren't able to keep up with just two workers. Lady doing the most work was frazzled and on edge. She kept correcting folks in line: "don't lean on the counter", "don't grab your own plate", etc. The place was dirty. Long lines and upset customers. I placed mine and my co-worker's order at 12:13pm. We waited and waited. Finally, I walked back over to check on my order. They had mid-placed it. So, they began again and then unfortunately they got our orders wrong. We just took what they gave us at that point, which was less food for what we actually paid for (got our food at 1pm). After arriving in Greensboro after a terrible traveling experience (missing our flight because of a delay), we were absolutely starving but we needed to get to work so we were trying to find something quick on our way to high point. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and fries and my friend ordered the chicken club. My philly was dry, you know that kind of dry where you can choke on the dryness or the bread? Yeah that kind of dry. It was not flavorful at all. A philly is supposed to melt in your mouth not try and choke you. The fries were really good though which is what I'm giving two stars for. I should have known better when the parking lot was empty but we were too hungry to care. Both of us got such bad stomach aches after we ate this that we had to stop at CVS and get tums and pepto and all that good stuff. We order from this location regularly but apparently with a change in staff nothing is the same. We ordered and were told 25 minutes, when I got there only one other customer and my three sandwiches were laying on the counter. I asked about cookies and she said "We're out." It was 5:00 pm but ok. She asked if I wanted malt vinegar and ketchup. I said yes and she walked to the back. Another girl bagged the other customers order and handed it over to him. The food is really good, being the closest authentic cheesesteak that I've found in NC. Unfortunately, tonight was not a good night for the service. After placing an order online, confirmation stated order would be ready in 12 minutes. I showed up after 15 minutes to get the order and waited an additional 15 minutes with no acknowledgement that I was even there. I could see my cheesesteak sitting getting cold. The staff was busy, but it was because they were remaking a number of prior orders due to mistakes. While there I saw 5 sandwiches coming back that had problems and was given priority over me. My co-workers and I regularly stop here for lunch, but we've been going less and less over the months. The food is great, but this place is terrible for groups. The seating space is cramped and the time it takes between when the first person in your group gets food and the last person gets food can be unnacceptably long. We've even had orders just plain forgotten on more than one occassion. I could also use less shouting amongst the crew, especially since it doesn't seem to get me my food any faster. Food's great, though, and when you get the craving for some good fries this place is hard to beat. Just don't bother ordering a medium because you'll get the same amount as you would a small fry unless you make a fuss about it. It only took 6, maybe 7 minutes to get my food (granted there were no orders ahead of mine). The sub was packed with chicken and lots of gooey cheese and the bread was great. The fries were crisp and tasty--I love a place that offers malt vinegar with them. Both guys working were very friendly, each asking several times how my meal was and if I needed anything. I only give four stars because I'm a sucker for lemonade and theirs just isn't anything special. It tasted just fine but when I see "fresh squeezed" I expect a little pulp and didn't detect any.
