The breakfast burrito is EFFIN' GREAT! I've lived down the street from this place since it opened, and drive by it no less than 4-5 times every day, but never noticed it. Recently, I on a Sunday afternoon, I had all 4 of my kids on their bikes (one on a trail-a-bike behind me) ready for a bike ride, and I snapped my chain 15 feet out of our driveway. Frantically looking for a bike shop open on Sunday afternoon that I can ride to without getting all the kids out of their gear, getting them into the hot car, putting on the bike carrier and dealing with all of that. I texted them and even though they were closed (yelp hours of operation were wrong), the mechanic said he could meet me down there in an hour -- talk about great service. I had actually found another shop down the other side of the hill that was open and now waiting so I went that route (the kids were antsy about getting started "Nooooowwwwww!). Even though I didn't go to them that day for bike service, the fact that the mechanic said he could meet me there in an hour to get my me and my kids out riding just demonstrates their "good people-ness."
While I was reading reviews about this place, another review mentioned the breakfast burrito...so I'm thinking, "I love breakfast burritos," and I don't know of any really good ones. One of the things I look forward to visiting relatives in Vegas and business in SoCal is getting a big, simple, yet good breakfast burrito. Today I go into Peleton Bike to try the burrito, and I'm pleasantly surprised how cool this place is. The full service bike shop is on half of the restaurant and the cafe is the other half. *Either* place can stand on it's own. Together, it's creative and cool. So I order my burrito and have a glass of water at the bar while I'm waiting. The guy who took my order was totally friendly and chill. The chef -- and I mean chef because this isn't your Uncle Jose's breakfast burrito, it's a total level up -- drops this hot, foil-wrapped cylinder of food on the bar with a thud. It's gotta be 4-5 inches in diameter and 8-9 inches long. It's way bigger than my kids' lunch thermoses.
I was a little uncertain about the burrito when I read the description -- sweet potato? In a breakfast burrito? And Kale and Feta cheese? Just give me eggs, good chorizo, rice and spices...keep it simple. Anyway, I go to the office, unwrap this thing and take my first bite. FLAVOR EXPLOSION! The sweet potato with the little bit of spice in the chorizo was an unexpected delite. Outstanding. Eggs cooked perfectly for a burrito (not over cooked so a little egg juice can mix with everything else and not make every bite dry), and the Kale was a nice healthy addition that I didn't even notice (Which is a huge complement from me as I don't each much in the way of leafy green veges because they don't taste good to me -- I already asked them to hold the ciliantro because to me it tastes like soap). I wolfed that thing down in like 3-4 minutes and am now entering a food coma. I think I'm gonna go to the car and take a nap so I don't fall asleep in front of people. If you like breakfast burritos and are open to something with a little flair while maintaining the essense of a good chorizo breakfast burrito, take the time to drive (or #3/#4 bus right across the street) and try it. You'll like it. read more
