Pegah's is officially my new comfort food spot! I ordered the Hot Cake Combo with blueberry pancakes and let me tell you... these pancakes are massive. We're talking one hotcake the size of a dinner plate! They're fluffy, freshly made, and packed with blueberries. I couldn't even finish both-one is waiting for me for breakfast tomorrow! The bacon? Perfectly crispy. And I don't throw that around lightly crispy bacon is rare and essential.

Classic diner feel. Breakfast served all day long. The food was hot and my drink stayed full. My wife and I joined her family for a late lunch, I decided to go with breakfast though. I wanted to be able to justify my need for coffee. We requested to be seated in the back room at a large table. We were able to hang out and tell big long stories for quite a while. The staff were very polite and they took good care of us even when we were done with our meal. There was no rush for us to leave at any point. The desserts were great, but my daughter didn't understand why there were actual pieces of carrot in her carrot cake. I tried to explain but I'm her dad so she refused to listen to me. Can you relate? I'm sure there are better choices out there but this little place hit the spot. I will go back when I'm in the area.

As newcomers to this particular area of KC Pegah's has become a new happy morning place for us. Consistently good, and ALL of the waitresses are top notch and personable. It simply feels like home.

This place is the closest thing next to an old school dinner. The ambiance is nostalgic. The service was great and friendly. Very knowledgeable on the menu and helpful with suggestions. The food was great on some items and fair on others. Their deserts is always beyond belief. Awesome! I love this place for an old school social dinner feel!

Nadia was our server and she was absolutely amazing! Great personality and very attentive! We all 3 ordered the baked chicken special with 2 sides and a roll. Two of us got the mashed potatoes w/gravy and the other one got a baked potato. We all 3 got carrots. Pumpkin pie was for dessert. Everything was good, but we just didn't care for the seasoning on the baked chicken. It was very tender. Ample seating throughout the facility and the place appeared to be well kept/clean. I would recommend giving this place a try!

Cute little balloon art that I've never seen before! Love the way it looked like a decorated Christmas tree!

We went to Pegah's Family Restaurant yesterday for breakfast and it was amazing! We got waffles, French toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns. My girls enjoyed the food so much they have asked to go back multiple times. The staff was friendly and it was a great experience all around! Definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the Kansas City/shawnee area.

Great breakfast! Even if the breakfast wasn't great you should come here because the staff is outstanding. Don't miss this one!

Pegahs is a locally owned KC breakfast spot, serving solid classics. This location is in the downtown Shawnee area which makes it a nice place to eat breakfast and then check out the surrounding shops nearby. Our servers were very friendly, there were just a couple instances of forgotten requests that were quickly rectified once we said something. If this is your first time there, at the end of your meal you take your ticket up to the cashier instead of paying at the table. The food was delicious, I got my go-to which is the chicken and waffles. They hand bread their tenders, which are moist and flavorful. The waffle was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Overall, this is a solid crowd pleaser and I always take my out of state friends here for a cheaper tasty meal.

I can see why this place has been such a longtime Shawnee favorite. It's so cozy, with an expansive menu, affordable prices, and super friendly service. It's hard not to love a spot that serves home style breakfast favorites all day and has such an expansive dessert menu. Any of the breakfast plates are sure to satisfy and I look forward to getting back to try some of their other plates.

Good good, great value and in my opinion the quantity matches the price perfectly! Waitress was attentive to our drinks and mentioned desserts and appetizers. Spacious and well lit.

She couldn't wait to see her family, and eat breakfast. Thank you Pegah's for being so sweet, and kind when we're there.

If you haven't tried HomeGrown yet, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go!…read more We absolutely love the HomeGrown restaurants in Wichita, so when we were near Kansas City and discovered this location, we had to stop in. It was the best meal of the trip. What I love most about HomeGrown is that even though there are several locations, it doesn't feel like a big restaurant chain. It feels like a hometown café where people genuinely care about the food and the community. They make a real effort to source their meat and other ingredients locally whenever possible, and you can taste the difference. The food is fresh, comforting, and delicious, and there's just something about the whole atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. We were told this location has only been open a little over a year and they are hoping for this location to get busier. That honestly surprised me, because this is exactly the kind of restaurant I want to see succeed. So if you're anywhere near this HomeGrown, please go give them a try! Bring your family, meet a friend for breakfast or lunch, and discover a great local-feeling restaurant that deserves to be busy. We already love HomeGrown in Wichita, and now we're rooting for this location, too!

On a previous visit, I had the gluten-free pancakes and asked if they could add blueberries. They were happy to accommodate, and they turned out amazing! This last visit was a little different. The service was a bit slow, but nothing terrible. I decided to try the chilaquiles after a recommendation, and I wish I had stuck with their classic breakfast items instead. The sauce tasted more store-bought than homemade, there was very little added pork, and the dish was underwhelming overall. Meanwhile, my friends ordered the traditional American breakfast plates, and everything looked fresh and tasted great. I'd definitely recommend HomeGrown Brunch--just stick to what they do best: their classic breakfast menu. It's always fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for.

This morning (Sunday) we stopped in at 10:00am for brunch. We will definitely be doing that again. I had the avocado toast and my husband got the chicken fried steak breakfast. Both were great! Not only was his chicken fried steak huge, but the breading was crazy good/crispy and the meat was very tender. The toppings on my avacado toast were spot on! The bloody Mary's paired wonderfully with both too lol They make some amazing by scratch food here. Service is always amazing and so friendly. Great teamwork too. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable and good vibes.

Pretty good eats, great specials, and a full bar makes for a solid dining option for solos, couples, or families. You'll find Murphy's Corner nestled into a strip center facing 87th. The owner apparently did catering prior to opening this space and you can certainly tell with the food. The menu has lots of options, from standard pub fare to housemade pizza to some rather artisanal salads. I'd suggest the chicken sandwich, hand-breaded and fantastic. Or even the Hinkle, roast beef & thinly cut pork tenderloin with a sweet pepper aioli, is a fabulous sandwich. But don't miss that happy hour from 2:00-6:00 on weekdays. The smashburger special runs $6 for a single, and even that is a fair-sized burger, and maybe share a side with someone special. The smashed patty(s) come with the usual accoutrements, including a 'special sauce' that makes the smash a smash. Secret of the pros: get two patties, because it's worth the extra $3 and it's sensational. If there is any knock, then it might be the speed of service. Having stopped in several times, I don't think I have ever had the kind of turnaround that I can get many other places. But the food often makes it worth the wait, so I can only knock it for one star. Pricing is fair and certainly on the level with the area, parking is shared with other spots along the strip, and the atmosphere is wonderful. There are a TON of TVs in all directions, and you can even sit on the patio in nicer weather. It's a neighborhood spot with great food, great atmosphere, and great specials. Get there.

My food was ready at the promised time and was accurate. The individual working the front desk was friendly. The interior is large and they have lots of seating and even a nice outdoor patio. They have plenty of TVs if you're dining in so you won't miss any games. I ordered the chicken club sandwich. It comes with either grilled or crispy chicken, Swiss, bacon, slaw, tomatoes, and honey mustard and garlic aioli on a croissant bun. I ordered my sauces on the side because it can be a little heavy handed and it gets the bread soggy. I liked this sandwich overall. The grilled chicken was moist and had a nice grilled flavor. The croissant bun was interesting but held up to the sandwich well. I liked both sauces. The slaw was really just chopped up cabbage and not a true slaw. My only complaint is the size of the grilled chicken compared to the size of the crispy chicken. My boyfriend ordered the same sandwich but with crispy chicken and the size difference was significant. The crispy was double the size of the grilled. I previously had a crispy chicken sandwich so that was the size I was expecting and was a bit surprised when I got the grilled this time. Again, the taste was good but they have many different items that I'd rather have in the future. I upgraded my side from fries to a side Caesar salad. The dressing was a little thin but was good and had good flavor. The lettuce was fresh. And I liked the addition of half a hard boiled egg. I'd definitely recommend and order this side again. The salads have all been pretty bomb. My boyfriend tried the corn chowder and liked it. I tried it and it was really smoky and would probably be excellent with a slice of cornbread. I love having this option nearby and they have a very extensive menu with options for everyone. Definitely check them out!

They absolutely have the processes of this little restaurant honed to perfection, and even during a busy lunch time kept things humming so that there was minimal wait time (to order, for the food to be brought out, and to pay for our meal). Many, MANY thanks to Robert, who seated us, took our order, brought our food out, and settled our bill. He was friendly, efficient, and so welcoming. It was a joy to watch him work; he made sure to greet each and every customer coming in the door, and was consistently so upbeat and positive. And many, MANY thanks to Tony at the grill! Our food was FANTASTIC!! I have high standards for Mediterranean food, and the falafel wrap was totally delicious! The falafel itself was perfectly cooked, with a crispy outer layer, and the other ingredients in the wrap were chosen for a perfect melding of flavors. I had the side salad, with homemade Thai peanut dressing, and it was equally tasty. My husband had the patty melt, which came on homemade bread (!) and was, per his report, perfectly done. His side was tater tots, and we shared them. They were crisp and light without being greasy, and addictively yummy! The restaurant is in a strip center; it's not very big, but the tables are well placed so that no one feels cramped. The open reception area and kitchen/grill make it easy for the staff to respond to what's happening in the dining room (e.g., new folks arriving). It was a truly memorable meal, and we'll definitely be back! Again, MANY thanks to Robert and Tony for such a great lunch. We appreciate you!

The menu is large but easy to navigate, and the prices felt pretty average for the area. I ordered the avocado toast ($12.99), and it was bigger than expected--in a good way. It also came with two eggs and a choice of side; I went with the fresh fruit, which was a great complement. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The only drawback was the limited staff. Our waiter was fantastic, but he was clearly stretched thin--handling seating, bar duties, takeout orders, and multiple tables all at once. It was a bit much for one person and did lead to longer wait times across the board. Hopefully, this was just a one-off situation, because the food and service quality were definitely there. I'd absolutely come back again.
