Sonoma is usually averse to chain stores- but they have a Whole Foods, a Starbucks, Taco Bell, McDonald's, the original Williams-Sonoma.... and this Peet's on your way to the Plaza. It's a pleasant little place; it's got a courtyard unlike the Napa one, they're that small and charming! It's also got a roomier seating/dining area. They make great savory scones. Even the regular coffee packs a punch. They're currently carrying a Golden State Warriors special blend of coffee. The service is friendly. On the downside, they have only 8 spaces in their private lot. One has to look around for street parking (3 hours maximum)... and if you want the free parking behind the Sonoma Plaza, it's quite a walk. read more

The baristas were fast and friendly and on my second time in lent me a pair of scissors to clip a tag from my shirt that was chafing the back of my neck. Virtually no line both visits. I always get Peet's everywhere I go. This is the worst Peet's I've ever been to. Ordered two drinks with extra shots and got a week coffee that was sticky sweet! They don't make the drinks like any other Peet's!!!! Oolong tea was as expected and just what I needed, but I am really here to send a shout out to the absolutely adorable barista who was bouncing around behind the bar and literally singing out names as she called people for their beverages. I am a long time Peet's customer and the Sonoma location is the best I have ever been in. The place is always immaculate whether Kelly the manager is here or not. The staff are always pleasant and not only remember our names but what we like to drink!! Amazing! The atmosphere is open, friendly and was exactly what we needed in Sonoma. Definitely a place for the town to relax and meet. The beans I have purchased have been fresh and well ground. I cannot say enough about the quality of this location. read more

The place is amazing, I love the coffee here. Has a very unique taste to it. Peet's is a bit small, but fun place to visit to relax, do some work and have some good coffee! I love Peet's and have been a devout patron for over two decades. Whereas, I abhor Starbucks. Yet, Peet's standards of excellence that are brilliantly honored and effectively achieved when applied to making coffees and teas should be equally applied towards the corporate management of each of their cafes. So then, I am evaluating the town of Sonoma Peet's Coffee and Tea cafe upon the following 6 subject criteria below, using the Yelp 0 to 5 star measurements: Cafe drinks; Customer Service; Cleanliness: Additional food products; Ambiance: Aesthetic interior / exterior design. HIGHEST POSSIBLE RATINGS PER CATEGORY: 5 stars TOTAL REVIEW of STAR POINTS: 14 TOTAL NUMBER OF SUBJECTS EVALUATED: 6 TOTAL STAR RATING SCORE (14 ÷ 6) : 2.3 CAFE DRINKS ( 0 to 5 RATING): 4 stars The house coffees lattes, mochas are brewed/pressed/made well. Bravo Baristas CUSTOMER SERVICE ( 0 to 5 RATING): 2 stars 5 Stars to the top, often older employees you know who you are; and a negative 3 stars to those young employees who considerably bring the curve down. Hence, the final rating is 2. Generally speaking, the entire staff is very friendly and the seasoned baristas know their trade. Sadly, there are two very young Peets employees who appear to be very inexperienced and unhappy. The inexperience I can tolerate--particularly when employees are making genuine efforts to be helpful. However, It's simply unacceptable when you're staring at a young person who is clearly displaying signs of unhappiness at their job(perhaps for lack of pay, lack of interest or some other reason), when tens of millions of American people are unemployed. CLEANLINESS ( 0to 5 RATING): 2 stars Having formerly worked within the food industry and as a cafe barista for a number of well respected organizations, I know how absolutely important it is to maintain a high standard of cleanliness on the front line (the cash register, the front counters, the barista machines and main seating area) as well as the back end (the kitchen and bathrooms). Speaking strictly about the cleanliness in the cafe at the tables, floors and counters, and bathrooms(not the kitchen), ...it seems to be an ongoing struggle that is often either intentionally neglected or simply forgotten. Here, I understand that "rushes" of people occur at odd times. As a result, it's easy to loose track of your work priorities. And though, taking orders, filling these orders and directly serving the customer is a number 1 priority,...maintaining a clean environment should never be avoided. Moreover, when you have a staff of 3 to 6 people on call and you're not keeping your cafe / restaurant consistently clean, then that's a serious problem that starts at the top management level. I can not tell you how many times I've walked into the men's restroom only to think I walked into a war zone. It's really bad on a consistent basis. Furthermore, I have repeatedly sat down at tables and seats that were unclean. ADDITIONAL FOOD PRODUCTS ( 0 to 5 RATING): 0 stars Unfortunately, this is a serious problem with Peet's Corporate Offices. However, managers do have influence to speak up and make recommendations--particularly with respect to the suggestions made by their local customers and their demographic clients. That having been said, it's particularly unnerving and a double standard to see Peet's selling an Organic milk in front of their pastries and between their two cash registers while simultaneously using the bad, hormone, antibiotic, non-organic milks for all cafe drinks. This is unacceptable and reflects negatively upon Peet's business acumen. [RECOMMENDATION: If you visit this Peet's Cafe and you're concerned about consuming GMO / Hormone / Antibiotic milk,...then please complain to them--Pointing out the double standard of SELLING ORGANIC MILK FOR EXTRA MONEY,...BUT THEN GIVING YOU THE UNHEALTHY, ANTIBIOTIC AND HORMONE MILK so as to make a change. AESTHETIC INTERIOR / EXTERIOR DESIGN ( 0 to 5 RATING): 2 stars I really like the location of the cafe. Unfortunately, the inside and outside are rather disappointing, in my opinion. Why? The service is great...the coffee is ok. But oh my gosh, the wifi is TERRIBLE. Walk in and you will see nothing but frustrated wifi users. I spend a lot of time at this location and all day I hear grumblings about the faulty internet connections. Many people use this location as a home office and actually do real work but are unable to because of the wifi. Personally, I restart...and restart...and restart...and restart my wifi connections on my huge laptop and I barely get homework done. Please fix this seriously. read more

Peet's Coffee on Highway 12 across from the Shell gasoline station is another frequent stop for the never ending editing and brainstorming required to run the modern enterprise. House brew, $1.95 cents per cup. Refills are $1.00. Free WIFI is not quick and Youtube and other streaming services are blocked, but with WIFI now available on my iPhone, it really doesn't matter. I enable WIFI on my phone, connect my Chromebook and off to work I go. Peet's Coffee is accompanied by real milk products and a hint of native Sonoma Trees planted around it's brick and mortar contemporary setting. Love LOVE Peets coffee and I love this location the best! The location is perfect and they are always fast & efficent & the shop its always super clean! When my cell phone was left at the cafe and I spoke with Kristen (spelling?), since I lived far away, she took my info, walked over to the post office and sent it to me by mail. When I asked how I may send her the money for shipping, she replied "don't worry about it and have a wonderful day." Peet's Coffee Sonoma serves the highest quality of coffee around but there is much more to this little cafe than excellent product. The staff is unbelievably courteous and kind, they go above and beyond. There is always smiles, laughter, and friendliness among all the staff. I was a starbucks fan for a long time but Peets won me over. I love their coffee, more like addicted. The carmel latte is to die for. People at this Peets are much more low key than other coffee places, the baristas are the best here and the music is very relaxing. I agree with the other reviewer, the place is so large and needs to be re designed, there is just to much unused room and needs to feel a bit cozier. read more

Great staff and nice atmosphere. My only complaint is with some of the customers, who hog chairs and tables to write novels, play gin rummy or hold 8-person business meetings while sucking on one cup of coffee for two hours! Even standing right in front of them doesn't seem to encourage them to give a seat to others. Peet's should disable Wi-Fi every few hours at random to help clear the place out, or at least consider ways to manage abuses of the privilege. read more
