I had the worst day dealing with awful customer service and fee after ridiculous fee that I really needed a break and headed to Peet's for my favorite coffee drink in a "real" coffee cup Vanilla Latte. Patrick was wonderful made me feel like I went to a friends house for great coffee. He was pleasant and courteous and didn't treat me like a number. My drinks are always made perfectly. Once or twice was a small mistake as it was being done by somebody being trained. But the store remade the drink and gave it to me for free. That's great customer service. Besides that, I've had many drinks here, food products too, no problems. Awesome coffee and good food. Great, friendly staff. Better trained than most Starbucks locations too. Every Peets location I've been to, has been great, thus making me buy from Peet's, much more often. mMmm... I LOVE their Matcha Green Tea Latte, its a must have. I feel its better then Starbucks' matcha green tea latte. Highly recommend! Staff here is wonderful, they are very nice and friendly. Allows you the time to think of what to get when needed. And I really like this location, never packed, there is never a long line. I hung out here a few times with my friends while they studied. I got the chances to people watch. :) A lot of the people who come in here seem to be very chill and relaxed, unlike Starbucks'. Always in a hurry. Every time I come to this Peet's Coffee & Tea I always feel satisfied. The baristas and manager at this location are very friendly. I love the smell of the espresso the moment you walk inside. It's always very busy at Peet's and all the locals seemed pleased to sit and chat about life! This is a great place to go if Starbucks has become a bore and wish to venture into the next level of reaching good coffee (or at least a little better than watered down expensive espresso). I asked one of the worked if they still had the pumpkin latte and she informed me, " Yes,ma'am, we have it all year long." ALL YEAR LONG? That 's wonderful! I used to have to wait for the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte to return but not anymore. Besides, this pumpkin latte that Peet's has is way better on flavor! I've been coming to Peet's virtually every morning for the past 10+ years. It's become a ritual and often the best part of my day. I was never really a coffee drinker until then and was new to the coffee culture. I adore this place for many reasons. Of course I love the coffee (delicious every day without exception) and the absolutely incredible staff there knows me and knows what I regularly order and the pastry I get every morning. But every morning they welcome me with a smile and a greeting (by name) that's both genuine and nourishing. I can't name them all but here's a few: Crystal, Ozzy, Marti, Van, Madeline, Jon, Fabiana, April, Emily E, Emily B (sadly no longer there) and Schon (now at the Peet's on Lake Avenue) and many others who are no less wonderful. Compliments to the manager Juan, for hiring such a great group of people. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it's entirely possible (though hard to believe) that some have had a negative experience, but that makes me bristle. I can only say that in the 10+ years I've been coming to this Peet's I have only had the most wonderful experiences. To add to that, I have met so many lovely people there that are also regulars and now friends. I guess you can tell that I adore this place and I am happy to be able to be able to tell them and everyone what a terrific establishment it is. Don't get me wrong, I love Peet's vanilla latte especially when they actually offer a "for here" option and put in in real ceramic mug (there's something about this that's very medicinal to me). I have been going to this convenient location since they opened and yes, I'm a coffee junkie and know what tastes good. This is not where the problem lies...The thing that bugs me is the staff. They're just not approachable and seem hurried even if no one is in line and heaven forbid you ask a question cuz you're left w/blank stares! What irked me the most was apparently now when you order any drink, they ask if whole milk is ok. Otherwise, there's soy, half/half, 2% or non-fat. I'm familiar with extra costs for things, but to be charged a freakin' $0.50 for half/half NEVER happened before until last night. As often as I go here, I know what costs what but the so-called mgr w/ her fake eyelashes continued to insist that she get the last word about the fact that either I was charged in the past OR never got the half/half I requested. Really?! It's cream/milk, not a flavor and not soy so careful to ask for stuff w/hidden fees. The one thing I prefer w/ Starbucks is @ least they'll tell you where your $ is going. This Peet's location is probably the best one that I have been to. I stopped here on a Saturday while running errands around town. The wait time was not that long, which was nice. I purchased a couple of bags of Major Dickenson's whole beans for my weekday cups of joe and got a blended coffee drink to go. Unbeknownst to me, customers who purchase two bags of coffee get a free small coffee. SCORE! So I just paid for the difference. The rest of the experience was quite pleasant. One of the baristas, Van, was wearing a Jim Brown jersey. Being that I am a huge USC fan, we talked about the drafting of Sam Darnold and how things looked for the Browns this coming season. I didn't want to let him know that I was a Steelers fan. The other barista was equally friendly and ribbing his co-worker for wearing the jersey. Haha. Peet's Coffee & Tea is one of a kind! You can always catch me at my local Starbucks, BUT I STILL drive across town JUST for Peet's at least twice a week. I love their Summer House Ice tea, the flavor is amazing, unlike any other iced black tea. The flavors are so brisk yet mellow. I've tried their Hibiscus Ice tea as well, it's definitely worth the drive from anywhere! All in all, their coffee is always delicious. And their selection of LOOSE-LEAF tea is the best by far. Starbucks ain't got nothing on Peet's. I will still go to Starbucks since there are many more locations and it is just more convenient for me but if I am in the mood for a REAL drink, I'll come here now. Came here early in the morning and there was already a group of people inside the shop enjoying their coffee drinks or studying away. The first thing that caught my eye when walking in was a display with announcements about a walkthrough of the brewing process and a coffee tasty event. WHAT? That's amazing! You don't find that any other chain coffee place! I already felt the close "home-y" feeling and the sense of true baristas behind the counter. Ordered the Pumpkin Latte with skim milk. I was in line and happen to check in and BAM! $1 off any holiday drink. Winner winner! Grabbed a table and my drink was ready in a few minutes. At first sip, you taste the holidays. Pumpkin spice and milk. Only a few ingredients (I hope) but very satisfying. A bit too sweet for me (not sure if you can even request to get it not as sweet) but overall a great start to my morning. Free WiFi kept me busy during my time there. The ambiance is very chill. A sense that a different group of people would come here compared to the local Starbucks. By the time I was about to leave, there was a line out the door. The tables were filled inside but there was also patio seating outside. Besides the drink being too sweet, I enjoyed it and enjoyed the ambiance. You don't just go to a restaurant for the food right? It's the whole experience and that is why I am giving it 4 stars. Coffee - in general - is expensive. Okay, Now that that's out of the way...This was the first Peet's I'd been to in a long while. I liked this location because it was right in the middle of a lot of places that I shop. The staff was nice, even though they thought I was "Lindsay" and my drink was sitting there for a while. Note: unlike Starbucks, the default milk here = WHOLE milk - NOT 2%. If you don't like the fatty stuff, make sure you tell 'em. Wi-Fi here means you need to buy something, then get a code from the cashier. If that code does not work, just bring it back to the cashier and they'll give you another one. Note: You cannot use the same code twice; it deactivates. So don't try to pass your code to someone or use the same code on 2 difference devices. And if you screw up or enter it wrong, you'll probably have to get another. And it's supposed to be limited to 1 hour. Hint: SUPPOSED to be. Boo: not enough seating, even though there are several tables and chairs here in and outside. Yay: Godiva Caramel Pecan Mocha. Oh how I love this place! Im here literally every week, and always have a good time here. Peet's coffee is simple and straight forward while their drinks can be as plain or complex as you want them to be. For those that don't know and come here a lot, I recommend getting the Peet's app and checking in every time because it leads up to a free drink after several check ins. Also your first check in is a free drink as well! I prefer this place over Starbucks any day. Some of the few options I like getting, depending what I am feeling are a Iced Chai Latte. It works so well and when its cold you find yourself nonstop sipping and works great on a hot day as well. This also makes a great drink hot. The classic iced caramel macchiato, for those who love ordering these anywhere else, I am sure you will enjoy it here. When its in season, their pumpkin spice lattes are phenomenal. Perfectly sweetened, and I feel like the quality is way better than other places. A neat trick to try and recommend is ordering a Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte, either hot or cold. I love Peet's among all the coffee chains and questionably almost as much as Philz coffee. I'm giving three stars for this location because although the personnel here are friendly, they take forever and are always held up it seems by coffee grind orders. I'm glad they are making those sales but it takes so long. For someone trying to order a coffee and not the grind, it's the last thing you want to deal with while on a work break. The speed and mobile ordering puts Starbucks at an edge over Peet's with coffee that just doesn't taste as good. Improve your speed and service and I'll up the stars. read more

Bought my regular and didn't drink my Caramel Macchiato until this morning. I warm it up in my microwave and open the lid. I am surprised to see the coffee is only half cup. I honestly never knew that Peet's actually had stores that sold individual drinks. I always thought that Peet's was just a place to buy a whole beans and ground coffee for your coffee machine. This place is pretty cool has a nice open seating area, Wi-Fi in case you are there to study, and a pretty decent selection of individual drinks for tea and coffee, hot and cold. The other really cool thing about this place is that they have a ton of selection for their ground and whole bean coffee. They have a number of international as well as domestic flavors for coffee beans. Their prices are pretty fair and you can walk out with a whole pound of coffee in just under a few minutes. This isn't your regular Starbucks location with a lot of trendy looking people holding meetings but it is a good place to come and hang out to read a book and enjoy a drink. read more

Just a scone...just a scone you say...what!!! No way! So first off, I need to say yes- I like coffee but I don't have it often. I usually have it only when I'm cold or need a sugar fix because, ok don't get all disturbed by this, but I like my coffee super uber sweet like 5 packets of sugar! I know I know... don't judge. So when I first had Peet's, on a recent road trip, and I ordered a latte...I was shocked with I didn't add any sugar. RIGHT!!! No sugar for a sugar addicted junkie... crazy I know. Ok...SOOOOO... let me tell you about my FAVORITE thing here. Their maple scones. I absolutely love them. Again, I just had one on this road trip. So my friend had gotten one and basically said I had to try it. So as he put gas I literally ate the whole thing...YES the WHOLE scone!!! I think I was in Monetary. It was moist, sweet but not too sweet, and it had walnuts. Since then I have been obsessed. I literally walked to 4 different Peet's in search of these scones in San Francisco only to find out that most are closed on Sundays. Very frustrating. So heres some advise, if you too should become insanely addicted to these scones. 1. Not all scones are alike. Because Peet's receive their products from local bakers, scones differ from what I can tell place to place. Like Peet's in LA area will have different shaped scones than the ones up north. So flavor will differ slightly but still very delicious! 2. Peet's only order anywhere from 3-6 scones per day and often run out before 10am. So call ahead and make sure they have them and have them set one aside for you. (or if you are like me.. have them set aside as many as they have lol..true story). 3. You can call the night before to have them save scones or any other pastry for you and if you call early enough you can also place orders. If you place a special order they actually will put your pastries in a nice box for you. Ok, well there is it. I told you I was crazy about these scones. read more

I was really excited to try this coffee place and fall in love. I was literally prepared to be addicted to a new coffee joint but my...was I wrong! I usually stick to Starbucks and now I know why. So I came here on Sunday around 6. I don't even know the guys name that barely helped me. There was him at the register and a girl at the bar making the drinks. I ordered a Vanilla Latte and I asked what kind of milk they use and he responded with "whatever you want". I said "well what do you normally use?" He said the same response. Okkkkk, so maybe I'm the stupid one. I paid $3.25 for my Vanilla Latte but I swear it just tasted like a regular latte. There was no hint of Vanilla or sweetness at all so maybe they got my order wrong but anyway...as I'm waiting for my drink, I can hear him talking to the girl saying "guess who I ran into??? She gain some extra pounds. She got fat" & the girl kept asking him "seriously how old are you?". Then he said "I'm just saying she gained some weight!" I think people actually live here because the parking lot is always filled and 99% of the seating here is taken 100% of the time. Plus on the weekends you'll see plenty of unshowered hair and if you're lucky, some pillow lines on the clientele faces too. Out of all the coffee chains, I like Peet's the most. Starbuck's coffee is generally tasteless, in my opinion. Coffee Bean is okay, but I always have to get an extra shot to give their latte drinks an appropriate zing. Peet's on the other hand, has darn good tasting espresso and their concoctions taste sufficiently powerful without any extra tweaking. I've noticed that the people patronizing Peet's are generally older--you, know, gray-templed, crow-footed, middle-aged folks like me. I'm thinking it may be because Peet's coffee drinks aren't as sweet as the other chains. It tastes like coffee, not candy. I went to Peet's today and ordered a White Chocolate Mocha. I was sad when the barista informed me that he was out of whipped cream. Good thing I'm in a happy holiday mood, otherwise I would have said, "Then you better go whip me some." Snarl. One of my favorite coffee franchises and a great place to study. They have many seats and tables available for studying and their drinks just set the mood just right. Their drinks have a better coffee flavor compared to their competitors. I tried the matcha green tea latte and the matcha flavor was very good and I really recommend it. Green tea changed my life. Studies have shown if you drink a big mug every day, you'll be happy and infect everyone with a smile. First off, I have to bloviate (I'm smarter than spellchecker) that black, green, and white tea is the same leaf. The leaves turn black when exposed to air (oxidized). Green has more flavonoids and less caffeine than black. White is too delicate for a white boy like me to drink; I might break with too much whiteness. Green gets me hopped up, but its safe for pregnant women- respect the moms everyone. My favorite loose leaf tea at Peets is Jasmine Downy Pearls, JDP's as they say in the biz. It is scented with jasmine 7 times. Wow. Peets trains chimpanzees and those monkeys that like to chill in the hot springs to pick and roll up the leaves into little balls like a bugger - pearls. What makes this Peets so special are the people, the regulars and the baristas. There are so many mad scientists here, experts on animation, drawing, Mayan mythology, preachers, musicians, families, kids, restaurant proprietors, botanists, senior citizens, readers, and such. Drink green tea if you want to be happy. Add a bowl of wild, organic blueberries to your ritual de habitual and you and everyone you love will live forever. read more

There's a check-in deal right meow for $1 off a Coconut drink! Naturally, I'm a sucker for deals. And although I am not the biggest fan of coconut I thought "ok fine I'll try one of the coconut drinks only cuz it's a dollar off". BEST DECISION I MADE OF 2016!!! Ok - not really, but truth be told I did order the "Coconut Black Tie" which is a cold brew coffee with creamy swirls of coconut cream and HOLY MOTHER OF PALM TREES AND COCONUTS IT WAS SO DELICIOUS. So with the check-in deal, my MEDIUM COCONUT BLACK TIE was only $2.95 and DEAR LORD IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! I don't even know if it was intentional or not but the bottom of my cup seemed to have a layer of condensed milk and it was delectable. This cup of cold brew was my savior of the day for me and my sweaty armpits in Pasadena summer heat, and I don't think I've ever had a cold brew any more tasty than this one. TRY IT!!!!!! Best coffee of all the socal chains. Starbucks tastes burnt, coffee bean is only good for their ice-blended drinks, and well...that's about it. Peet's is in a league of its own. Loose leaf tea! No one else has loose leaf tea. I'm not saying this is the best coffee ever, but it's definitely better than the competition. The outdoor seating is great too. This is my story - yours may differ. I went to college when coffeehouses were all the rage - basically the 90s - and I also worked in food service and we had a professional espresso machine. Hey, she walked with me to Jamba Juice for me to get my wheatgrass shot, so why not? I ordered a small mocha at Peet's for the very first time in the financial district in San Francisco, and I have never been back to a Starbucks since (not for coffee at least, I tried once, and I literally could not drink it - Starbucks just smells and tastes burnt to me now, even when I lived in WA). Fast forward more than 10 years later and I am standing in a Peet's in Pasadena ordering the current Yelp Check-In Offer - $1 off a Milk Chocolate Almond Mocha. I decided to get the Check-In offer - Milk Chocolate Almond Mocha...Medium 1/2 decaf Mocha, soy milk, with whipped cream. I thought the drink was good, but too much milk (adding the whip cream was my own fault, since I've done it before...and should have known better - but it's just so pretty...LOL) The service here was also really fast and it wasn't very crowded at 8:30am. Maybe, I just got super lucky, since Peet's is generally packed (all the locations I've been to...). However, regardless of how packed any Peet's that I've visited gets, the staff is still polite. Peet's Coffee is one of my favorite chain coffee places to go to. Unfortunately, there aren't many of them in Southern California, but this location in Pasadena is one where I like to go to. The coffee here is really good. I haven't had a bad experience here. I usually get the fresh brewed coffee, which is very flavorful. Those of you who like the taste of coffee without all the added flavored syrups, this is a place to go to. There is usually a good amount of people here, so finding a place to sit is a 50/50 hit or miss. I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

I grew up in this part of town before moving to AZ. Peet's is very much a California thing and took it for granted when I lived in San Francisco. Needless to say I was thrilled to find this one. The parking lot is a bit crowded and if you don't get lucky may have to park far away. It's also very close to a busy street and the tables they have outside are not very relaxing if you want to enjoy a cup of Joe on Sunday morning. Peet's by far has the best tasting coffee of any other coffee house. There is just no comparison. Starbucks is just plain gross, but most Starbuckers order their double triple huba bubba carmel whatever and you can't taste the coffee. Coffee Bean & Tea is made from that syrup and powder stuff. All the rest of the want-a-bees try hard, but they are just not in Pete's league. Pete's was actually around before Starbucks and found a way to roast their beans that has not been duplicated. Pete's never tastes burnt, plus you can order ground or whole beans from all the coffee regions of the world. I love the Arabian Mocha Java. The coffee has a distinct delicious flavor that even if you like to add cream you are pleasantly surprised when you try it black. The Pasadena location is always crowded day and night. There is always a line for coffee or beans. I always order the large Americano with steamed milk, extra hot with room for cream. I notice that most of the patrons order fairly simple coffees with not a lot of foof . Lots of plain coffees, teas, lattes with soy. I know that I am pontificating, but I just cannot think of one bad thing to say about this coffee house. It just blows the other roasters to the other side of the universe. I have tried other local coffees, but Pete's is consistently so good. Can't wait till the morning so I can drive 4 miles out of my way to get my coffee. YUM.
