Compared to all the other Peets in the world, this one is only OK. The premises are a bit small and if you go outside, there is not much privacy and a lot of traffic noise. The quality of the coffee/snacks is the best thing about this place because it is of the same superior quality of all the other Peets. However, besides the small, cramped store and the noisy environment (which, I admit a coffee house will tend to be sometimes). The service is not very good. My gf ordered a coffee and when it wasn't hot enough, the server said "I can't do anything about it." And honestly, she could have run it through the steamer. Bad customer service. I probably will be back, but only if I don't have any other options in the neighborhood. read more

Each time I've come here, it's freezing inside, fan blowing. Too cold to sit and work. You can tell the staff, it won't change. This is how you lose business. When I make a choice where to spend a spare hour or two with a coffee and laptop, it won't be here. read more

I make a trip here on average twice a week. Sure some times the coffee and service is not quite as i would like, but 95% of the time it's fantastic. Great crews over the years, and client base looks pretty much as it did when they first opened. They must be doing something right. BTW - silence and a coffee really don't mix. This location is fantastic--no parking drama, easy on/off freeway access, nice sunny outdoors tables. HOWEVER (big "however")... We like to call this the "D-team Peet's". The service is slooooow (we're talking 20 minutes most days for a simple latte), inattentive and lackluster. Yet I continue to go in, always hoping that this will be the day I get my latte in under 10 minutes. I don't know what the management problem is (I've met the manger and he seems pretty on top of it) that results in such inefficiency. I made the mistake of asking the nice man behind the counter the difference between two types of bean (I can't recall which, but one was the basic $11.95 per pound the other $17.95) and he shrugged and said there was no difference. Another time I brought a couple clients in and we ordered together 3 drinks, 3 bottles of water, 3 bakery items and the tab came out to $7.50!! lol Then of course they forgot one of the drinks, but that was expected. The trouble is, I know the D Team is going to forget something, but if the average drink wait time is about 15 to 20 minutes, at what point does one assume the drink order has been lost? If you wait the full 20 minutes to bring it up, then have to wait the standard wait time for them to make your forgotten beverage you could be there for 40 minutes!! My favorite is the guy who stands behind the counter and does nothing. He doesn't even pretend he's busy, like anyone who has ever worked an hourly job knows how to do. Now that's skill. Now, if you are one of the two or three great team members at Peet's Corte Madera reading this, please don't be hurt. There are a couple of you who are great and who clearly get the Peet's vibe, and who, I imagine, carry the weight of the store. To you guys: five stars!! Just, uh, maybe feed the rest of your co-workers a couple cups of coffee before shift. :) read more

I decided to stop at Peet's to use their bathroom and grab a coffee, before heading back to SF. The staff person Lena was horrible. I asked her if there was a bathroom. She mumbled something and walked away. I thought, "Hmmm, is she purposely pretending she didn't hear me?" She comes back with a key and gives it to me. It's not clear where the bathroom is as this place is tiny, so I checked behind a swinging door. It just lead to a storage area. I came out and said, "I've never been here before, can you tell me where the bathroom is?" They said, "Oh oh sorry.. It's outside!." I just shook it off. I returned to buy a pastry and coffee. It was not clear where to stand for order something. The pick-up area was clearly marked. The counter areas had so much merchandise, I wasn't sure which register was open. Finally I order a coffee and a muffin. I get my muffin and the same lady (who helped with the bathroom key) checks the coffee brewing, etc. I'm thinking, "Maybe the coffee is just brewing.." She finally notices me waiting and says, "Oh oh.. sorry, here's your coffee." It was sitting on the counter and she forgot to give it to me. Isn't this her job? Is it really that hard to get coffee? I have been to San Francisco Peet's locations and have never had such horrible service as this place. Did they legalize pot for this Peet's location? I realize she must have been tired, but she was not apologetic at all. Maybe 5pm was her quitting time and her brain shut off. The next time I will cross the GG bridge, before making a pit stop at a Peet's coffee location. read more

I can't believe this place only has 3 stars. I come to this location specifically because the service is always swift, very friendly and personable, my order always comes out correct, and the place is always clean. The barista (Erin) remembered my name on my second visit(!) and is always so nice and efficient . Sure there may be a line to the door some times but that's because this is a great place to get your order done quickly and correctly. PS- A great place to read a book in the afternoon sun or use the 1-hour wifi you get with any drink/pastry. 5 stars for all aspects of service; I'll be a regular! read more

I used to come to this Peet's almost daily. When they first opened service was stellar. It was fast, associates were friendly and the quality was clearly what Peets is all about. As time has passed, they seem to have lost the vision. You're not greeted in a friendly or timely manner, your order isn't repeated back to you, you're lucky to walk out with your pastry if you got one and the quality is so awful that I head to Starbucks. That in itself should leave you speechless. When I order a latte, I want 1/4" of foam, not half foam half milk because that would be a cappuccino. When I ask for more milk to be added, please don't give me attitude, I just want my drink to be correct. When customers come in the morning, usually they have places to be. This isn't social hour and I would really appreciate a little hustling and multi-tasking so I can get on my way. I really LOVE Peet's and seriously hope this place can get it together. read more

After reading the other reviews, I feel incredibly lucky. Every time I am in Peets, the staff always do an impressive job with the endless lines and the not very well thought out design. These guys are pros, in fact, most days I get tired just watching them. But...I have said it before, and am about to say it again...I do think that the derth of coffee shops, good coffee shops, the sort where you can spread out your paper on a table and linger, must violate some sort of city ordinance. I like this Peet's location, I am glad it is here as the only other options around are Tully's(in the mall) or Starbucks (in the mall). So thank you Peet's for being a stand alone shop. I have been here a handful of times so far and think the layout of the store needs re-thinking. It is a smaller Peet's and right when you walk in is the bean counter, you have to walk to the left for drinks, into the smaller area. Which is a lot darker, nice for the morning coffee fix. It can be a bit confusing which counter to order at, I usually just wait for eye contact. I have been very lucky when I have been here and missed standing in lines for the most part. The people who work here can be a bit slow, but they are very nice and always have samples of food. I usually stop here for an espresso on the way home from my bike rides so I get a little snack too, for free! The best thing about this Peet's is the location, it is on the way home from a ride so I can have a burst of energy for the last hill. They also are cool with the lingo of Mill Valley, if you ask for "smarge" they know what you are talking about. read more

I'm no Peet's neophyte, mkay? I made the transition from Dunkin' Donuts to Peet's when I first moved to the Bay Area - after a few bouts of massive caffeine overdose, I learned that my 4 medium Dunkin' Donuts' coffees converted to precisely one HALF DECAF medium coffee at Peet's. Now, years later, I'm so acclimated to the strength of Peet's that I forget to forewarn visitors. It's kind of fun watching them get all bug eyed and jacked on a cup of coffee... This time, though, the joke was on my husband and me. Holy CRAP! We both got an mid-afternoon perk-me-up from the Peet's Corte Madera. This coffee was loaded like friggin' jet fuel. The only way this could have been stronger is if the folks at Peet's had laid us out and popped a main line of straight drip into our veins. I have not been this hopped up on caffeine since, well, probably never. So, be forewarned my fellow Yelper - for better or worse, this Peet's locale shall forever be etched in my brain as having the strongest coffee in the universe. read more

Have laptop, will travel... just never again to THIS Peets. Though I normally enjoy the 2 hours of wifi with a medium soy latte, I had a hard time staying at this Peets for longer than 15 minutes. Either the acoustics in the building are such that every noise is amplified 100 fold, or the barista had had 6 shots of Peets own medicine. The noise level rivaled that of a construction zone, complete with jack-hammering banging of espresso cups and milk tins. The barista added to the discord with constant yelling, much of which was angry shouts at the gal taking drink orders. He was so loud in fact that the gal could barely hear my drink order, though I was standing barely 2 feet from her. Hardly professional and hard to tolerate. The orchestral music playing over the speakers was a comical juxtaposition of calm in what was otherwise total cacophony. My ears are still ringing. read more

I have been going to this Peet's location for the last 10 years. I usually only go here during the afternoons/evenings, so service has been pretty quick for me (I'm in and out under 5 minutes). Generally the staff is nice and attentive to detail. I like this location a lot more than the one in the Village, and would recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and convenient Peet's experience. read more

Nice location and patio, and great coffee!

Peet's Coffee is a welcomed stop in the outdoor Corte Madera shopping center. We were Christmas shopping on a cold and windy day and stopping into Peet's for a couple of hot cups of tea was perfect. The service was fast and friendly. Past experience has shown that the coffee drinks here are delicious, although we didn't have one on this particular day. Peet's coffee is hard to beat! read more

Once upon a time back in the merry past of not caring and working at care free jobs I used to be a Peetnik (a Peet's employee). Oh times were jolly and things were fun but looking back at it now I wonder how I ever dealt with the general public. I am writing about this Peet's because A. yes it is across the street from my office and B. It's amazing. No really Kudos to the management team at that store all the team there are fun and easy going, ready to help. You never walk in and have to wait for them to stop their conversation. They are always there, the condiment bar is always stocked with lids cream and sugar etc and rarely dirty. Having worked at a Peet's I understand what these guys go through and it amazes me that they can still be so upbeat and friendly. I can only give the place four stars though cause of its size, it's pretty small on the inside so when there is a small line the place can get full pretty quickly but hey what can you do. read more

This is your basic Peets neither here nor there. Seems a little on the smallish side to me but there is seating outside as well that people bring their dogs and sit and chat. The parking lot gets pretty full in the mornings so if you are going to go there try not for the busy times or you may have to park up the street. read more

Two Baristas ignored me when I walked in and made me wait unnecessarily when there was no one else in line then another barista asked a person an illegal question about their disability which is against the Americans with Disabilities Act and is enforceable by police. The chair that I'm sitting in right now has frayed cushions too. The only saving grace was the cashier. read more

The quality of the coffee is consistently great, but the customer service at this store is awful. Enough with the cheesy chit-chat and awkward flirting with the female customers, just get me my f---ing coffee in less than 20 minutes please. Peets upper management must be clueless to allow the goof troop to continue to run this store. Maybe take a field trip to any Starbucks and see how they get the drinks out the door. Peet's coffee is excellent..... BUT If you buy bulk: beans (ground or whole bean) you are being shorted. It appears managers are paid a bonus when the inventory summary shows less weigth sold than paid for.   Watch the scale...generally hidden by point of purchase displays. This is particularly the practice in CORTE MADERA not in Greenbrae where scale is in your face easy. read more

Worst Peets in the chain. Poorly managed, constant turnover of employees who are poorly trained. (I am not counting the Peets in the Village across the freeway because it really isn't a Peets). The cashier was totally rude, she actually snorted at me when I handed her my credit card. She then swipes my card and says nothing, not thank you or enjoy your coffee or have a good one; she just looked down at the counter and drifted off...I must have put-her-out by ordering a regular coffee to go. Peet's Coffee is always good and strong, particularly for those mornings I need a little bit more of a caffeine rush; however, the service here is lacking. A few days ago, I was standing in front of one of the two registers waiting for service while the 3 employees ignored me and continued to clean. I waited patiently until one of the employees walked over - no greeting or apology for making me wait without ever acknowledging me. Granted, I only waited a few minutes, but it was annoying. I would have probably forgotten about it, but today was worse. I was standing in line and the man in front of me realized he forgot his wallet - after placing his order. The man walked out to get his wallet. I was the only one left in line and they had 3 employees in the back. The employee at the register did not ask me what I would like, instead, I was made to wait for the man to bring his wallet to pay. After the man paid, the cashier walked off to start cleaning the coffee maker! Really folks? I just wanted a cup of coffee! I am done with this location. read more

I think I have to give up on Peets. Great place when it was privately owned, now it is corporately owned. The service and products have gone downhill. Go in about 4PM to buy coffee beans, get a free coffee. Girl behind the counter seems to be alone. Guy sitting playing with his phone jumps up and says he can help. Line behind me. I get a free coffee, did not like this flavor. Guy is now gone, girl is back to being alone behind the counter. Ask her if I can have the another flavor. She says, "I guess so." Wow, so much for appreciating your customers! I tell her there is no 1/2 and 1/2 left. She say, "wait." I wait while she helps folks in line. She gives me a new coffee which is cold, at this point, I don't want to ask her for more help as she does not have the "help vibe" about her. I drank the coffee and got a stomach ache afterwards. The coffee she gave me was likely old from the bottom of the coffee tank. Another woman had said her coffee was cold too. What the heck?! Not going back. Yesterday, I ordered and drank the best Coffee Mocha EVER @ Equator.....Mill Valley corner of Throckmorton and Miller. OMG! So delicious. Now I'm spoiled. Okay folks, I'm a daily customer here and although I'd love to fly in, grab my amazingly perfect latte and fly back out the door, there is in fact SOME time and effort required to make the aforementioned perfect latte. I've been to many Peets and I've never encountered any difference in speed, so I really don't think that this one has miraculously attracted the slowest, densest staff. As much as it feels like an eternity when waiting for your morning java, I can safely say that the reports of 20 minute waits are grossly exagerated. Parking is (usually) a breeze, the staff are kind and conciencious and let's face it, it's Peets, you can't get better coffee unless you go to Blue Bottle, and not many can do that! read more

I absolutely loved this Peets's. I live up on the hill behind it and was so happy when they opened. My mother used to take me over to Berkeley to get our coffee beans in the 1960's , when there was only one Peet's - you could say I was a peetnik. This store had a rocky start, uneven & disorganized, but still friendly, which is more important. A guy ( I think his name is/was Andrew) came in and really made the place work. I am there often. Until yesterday. I got the bathroom key ( women's, of course) and went to the back to use it. The sddor said " occupied" so I waited and waited. After quite a while I knocked. Nothing . Long story., but this went on for a long, long time. Bottom line , after quite a while, 3 flushes and zero hand washing a very angry man ( peet's employee ) emerges and literally yells at me, angrily and a little scarily. Then he yells " if you don't like it , tell the manager"! So I did. She seemed defensive & was not helpful. At no time did the man apologize or anything.:-( She did say " there is no men's bathroom key" , which explained that, but that wasn't the problem. A young man should not yell angrily at a middle - aged woman, especially a service person to a customer. Very disappointed. read more

This place is very close to the freeway, which makes it a great place to meet my tutoring students who live nearby. There's outdoor and indoor seating, and plenty of room for me to sit on Sunday late morning and early afternoon. No one bothers me when I work, so I can sit and wait for the line to thin out or disappear, then get my coffee. The parking lot spots seem to all be marked "20 minutes only," so I park on the street behind the location. That's one-hour parking, but it's better than 20 minute parking, and it's easy enough to move the car every hour or so. read more

Matcha lattes! Soo good. Also, I love their chai. The lines here are too long for me in the mornings, but it's manageable on weekend afternoons. I love Peet's coffee. Not this Peet's. I wanted to buy some coffee beans. Simple enough start, right? I was hoping for shade grown, fair trade, and organic. The youngster at the counter looked at me like I was insane. Seriously, you would have thought, by the look on her face, that I was speaking Mandarin or something. By the end of my very one sided conversation, I would have settled for any one of the three. Nope, couldn't even really tell me that. I LOVE Peets. One could even say that I am a bit of a Peet's addict. I go out of my way for Peets wherever I am located during my travels. The staff at the 3rd and Mission location (in SF) are AMAZING. The line is always out the door, but somehow you never wait more than 5 minutes tops. There needs to be some mentorship towards the location in Corte Madera. I go several times a week - and only because I am desperate. There is typically only 5 people in line and the wait is FOREVER. Consistently. The staff is friendly, for sure, but waiting 15 minutes for a latte? With my 15 minutes I have plenty of time to analyze WHY I am waiting 15 minutes and it seems that it's due to disorganization. Marin folks are certainly demanding, but by no stretch does it justify this enormous wait. LOVE Peet's... but this location needs to get a move on. read more
