We've tried Peel Pizza several times now (cheese, pepperoni and mushroom) and have been quite satisfied every time. This is a very thin, somewhat crunchy crust with a tasty sauce and decent cheese. It's not NY style pizza but it's good, probably as good as any in the immediate area. A large pizza here is 18 inches, (plain cheese $15) so I don't see where they are so overpriced vs. competitors. The employees here are courteous and friendly, always a nice touch and unfortunately somewhat rare in Hingham. read more

Got the tomato basil pizza and it was great but the best part of the visit was the wings. They were pan fried and then baked. A rub was used and the wings had such a fantastic taste that adding a sauce ruined the taste read more

I had high hopes from reading the other reviews, so I figured I'd give it a try. I ordered a buffalo chicken calzone, picked it up and brought it home. Once I cut into it, something seemed off. There was no "buffalo" component to it, just plain chicken and cheese. They also use ricotta cheese in the calzone, which seems like an odd and unappetizing choice, but they do specify that on the menu - so that one's on me. I ended up taking a few bites and calling it quits. All in all a very disappointing, and expensive, lunch. read more

This pizza is fantastic (and I pride myself on being a pizza critic, having gone to school in new haven, ct, which is known, almost exclusively, for it's pizza). They make their pizza the way it is meant to be made- thin with a cripsy crust, not doughy like most places around here. You can tell from the delicious flavors that the ingredients used are top of the line. The wide variety of pizza choices is just another reason to get pizza from here time and time again. This was my first time ordering here. I had a veggie pizza- zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms and basil with chunks of tomato and mozzarella. Everything was super fresh and piled plentifully on a very thin, crispy crust. I ordered a small and barely finished half the pizza. My husband had a pepperoni pizza and loved it. They offer a smooth tomato sauce as well the chunky tomato. Will definitely order again. read more

We have ordered from Peel about a half dozen times. Love the thin crust, ingredients are fresh, they will put about any combo together (Prosciutto, olives and artichokes for us) and when they deliver, the pizza is still hot ! Our go to pizza in Hingham. Have not tried anything but the pizza and salad. read more

Pizza is inventive and delicious. Based on this alone, our family has switched most of our business from another well-loved local source. Service is quick and courteous. Owner is clearly interested in building relationships with customers. We have gotten a warm, sincere greeting every time, regardless of how busy the shop was, at the time. We even got some problem-solving thrown in for free on one of our visits (where to shop for a needed item while our pizza was being made). Did I say the pizza is really great? This pizza parlor, which looks small and unassuming from the outside, has outstanding New York-style thin crust pizza. It really is the best pizza on the South Shore, and I like Peel's pizza better than Regina Pizzeria's. The simple, pleasant, modern interior offers several tables, bar stools along counters that overlook South St. and a couple of nice flat screen TV's for watching sports. Peel does a huge carry out business and also delivers. The crust is made in- house every day and is outstanding. The toasty brown edge of the crust is crisp and a little crunchy, and the part under the sauce is chewy, just like it should be. It also has good flavor, which is often a problem at lesser pizza joints. The tomato sauce has a nice balanced flavor, visible dried herbs, the right amount of seasoning and chunks of tomato. Peel uses just the right amount of cheese. It's hard to screw up the cheese on a pizza, but I honestly find most pizza places either don't have good sauce or don't have good crust. It was a thrill to find a pizza place where every component is top notch. They also have wine and beer selections, and a good selection of soft drinks. There is a huge selection of toppings, including many creative combinations they have come up with and named. I didn't personally like the white pizza with truffle oil nearly as much as the plain cheese with tomato sauce, but that is just a personal preference, so if it sounds like it's right up your alley, give it a try. My ONLY strong suggestion for changes at Peel is that they add cheese choices that reflect special diets: rennet-free cheese (rennet is not vegetarian and I make a huge compromise every time I eat there), cow's milk free cheese (either goat cheese or sheep's milk feta) and vegan "cheese" such as Daiya. Even though I am a vegetarian, I can't seem to resist the bubbly, chewy goodness of an occasional slice of pizza at Peel, but I would be there quite often if they offered some or all of these alternate cheese selections. A final heads up- the crushed red pepper is flavorful and REALLY spicy! So don't sprinkle it on your slices unless you love spicy food. read more

I have to admit, I was a little reluctant to try Peel Pizza and this was for a couple of reasons: 1) my lingering distaste for the predecessor pizza shop owner; and 2) my snobbery about the utter lack of good pizza options in this area. Call me a pizza snob - I don't care - because I am. I grew up in Queens eating pizza as soon as I had teeth and could chew, and my great grandparents were right off the boat from northern Italy, so I am very familiar with all kinds of great Italian foods. As a frequent diner in this area over the past 23 years, I can safely say that the south shore is, in so many ways, a culinary wasteland with a few exceptions. I don't know why that is, because one has a choice of so many wonderful restaurants in and around Boston, but not on the south shore. Notwithstanding my skepticism, I tried Peel Pizza . . . and I returned! Yes, their pizza is quite good, albeit a bit pricey. But then, I am not so foolish to believe that I can still get a Queens-type slice (1/4 of a HUGE pie) for fifty cents. OK, I guess you can tell that I was a child a long, long time ago. But in all seriousness, Peel Pizza is definitely worth a visit. I've not ordered a whole pie, and I understand many feel that a whole pie is a bit dear, but the cheese slices I've had are very tasty. The crust is thin and crispy, if not perfect, and the proportions of sauce and cheese is, in my humble opinion, a good balance. There is some grease that drips when you bend the slice in half to eat it (the proper pizza technique - no forks and knives, please!), but hey, it is a pizza for Pete's sake!! Now if you are wondering why the four stars instead of five, here it is: I've not had very friendly customer service, although no one has been rude; they just don't seem very happy there. But the real reason for the lower score is that the dough mixer sits in the common area right outside the bathroom door!!! Not only is that kinda disgusting and unsanitary, but it may well be a health code violation. How did that pass muster with the Hingham Health Department? Perhaps the mixer is wheeled into the oven area for use, but I can't say - it is just not acceptable. So, Peel, find it another home in the space, and keep serving good pizzas. This is now my favorite pizza place and no other pizza maker around can hold a candle to it. read more
