The service could be much better. So I've come here many times in the past. My family and I love their food. So delicious so hot and fresh. We love the drinks the desserts the atmosphere. But last night we dined in. Myself my children and my dad and his family. We were a large party. The sever started off snarky, rude and dull. We gave her the benefit of the doubt in knowing that working in the service industry has its stressful times. So we kept smiling and being polite. I myself work the service industry so I know. It's got its stressors. My family members both mentioned how off putting and rude our server was. I explained sometimes it's very stressful and the end of the day can be tough. As we were finishing up one of the children started to cry a bit and then calmed down. The severs turned the music up so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk. We were there to eat good food and visit. This was the last straw. This was it. We were just done at this point. Spent maybe 45 minutes there before the servers made it too loud to stay. We paid and left. I will not eat here again as long as those servers are there. Hopefully we can find another spot with the same amazing food. read more

Was recommended this place by one of my coworkers who is in fact of Hispanic descent! She said it was the most authentic Mexican food in Anchorage, I don't disagree. It's very difficult to find flautas that are cooked correctly, these had the almost perfect crunch. And the meat was just a tender enough! The Birria tacos weren't my favorite(I used to live right on the border of Mexico so I have high expectations), but they were absolutely delicious, and the consummate is exceptional. Part of how you can tell this is an authentic place... The Horchata was to die for! No margaritas, but that's OK. A lot of places in Anchorage that have good margaritas have terrible food, I will take the trade off! The staff was very welcoming and checked on us frequently, and I loved the decorations, and the music that was playing made me feel like I was back in Southern California. We'll go again! read more

Finally went back to Pedro's and it's still amazing. I dined in and received complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were hot and salty and the salsa was very flavorful. I ordered a single birria taco and the Chile Colorado with flour tortillas. Both were great. The Chile Colorado was spicier than other places I've tried and I loved it and the fresh tortillas. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. I can't wait to try more items here because everything so far has been awesome! read more

I've been eating here for a long time. They've been losing consistency in food and customer service. This place used to be my favorite place to eat. The prices don't match the menu. They charged me 3 dollars for beans and rice when I only wanted rice and four dollars for that small portion of avocado. I called ahead of time for pick up but they had me sitting there for 10-15 minutes. The ambiance was clean but the customers before me didn't seem happy either. read more

Pedro's Mexican Grill has a nice ambiance. It's clean, inviting, and comfortable and the service was genuinely great. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the experience pleasant. The food itself tasted good, but the portions were surprisingly small for how much everything costs. It's insanely overpriced, like a lot of Mexican restaurants lately, and the serving sizes just don't justify the price. Best Mexican food we tried in Anchorage!! The service was relatively quick considering we showed up an hour before closing after a long hike. Just the best restaurant especially after a tiring day for meals that are plentiful and nourishing. They don't skimp on the spices or taste! The chips and 2 types of salsa were exceptional too. The tacos had a nice crunch texture to them, very tasteful! Everything was absolutely delicious! The service was very delightful, we were the only customers at the time but I'm sure if they were busy we'd be treated with the same kindness. What?! A NEW Mexican spot?! Pedro's is on a stretch of road I don't drive on much, but I made a special trip just to try them out. Interior is clean and simple. You order at a counter (large menu posted above) and they bring the food out to you. However, the level of service feels much more like a full-service, sit-down restaurant rather than a "drop your food off and leave" restaurant. You also get free chips n' salsa, much like a sit-down Mexican spot. You get a choice of two tomato-y salsas: mild and hot. Food, service, value, this place had it all. My husband and I ate here last week while on vacation. The restaurant is small and in a strip mall, but it has delicious food and great service. Our server was waiting on tables and handing out to go orders, but still gave us great service and was so nice. We started with the salsa and bean dip. The salsa was fresh and chips were perfectly Salty and warm. I had a Chile relleno and a ground beef taco. My husband got the ground beef meal with an extra taco. The Chile relleno was stuffed full of cheese and was so flavorful. The tacos were hot, crispy, and flavorful. My husband loved his taco meal too. For my first time dining here I was very impressed!! I ordered the crispy barría tacos which were very flavorful and came with rice and beans on the side. I also got the fried ice cream and oh my goodness it was so amazing- as an ice cream lover this was the best fried ice cream I've ever tasted!! It came in a crispy cinnamon shell with honey and whipped cream all around. We also ordered standard chicken wings and I would rate them a 6/10. The interior is nicely decorated but the inside is quite small which is understandable based on the location of the restaurant. Gave it four stars only because online it'll say the location is open and when I arrive they are closed or closed before the quoted business hours. We just tried the birria tacos today and wow how delicious. They are so flavorful and cheesy and if you order the combo meal it includes refried beans and Spanish rice. I came down here earlier today after reading several of the reviews posted by others. Pedro's Mexican Grill is a new establishment located in the old Pickle Barrel Deli location on Bragaw between Debarr and Northern Lights Blvd. next to Napoli's Pizza and Sweet Pink Pepper. The dining area is spread out with tables on one side and comfortable booths on the other. A friendly lady greeted us at the counter and we took a couple of minutes to check the large menu displayed against the wall. I decided to go with the Pollo Fundido (shredded marinated chicken and cream cheese in a crispy flour tortilla topped with melted American cheese along with pico de gallo on the side). My friend decided to go with the Chile Relleno (two Anaheim peppers stuffed with cheese and covered with egg batter and deep fried....I'll have to order this myself the next time I come here). We only had to wait a few minutes for our orders to arrive after seating ourselves in one of the booths in the center of the dining room. The Pollo Fundido was delicious. A generous amount of shredded chicken with a layer of cream cheese on the inside. The melted American cheese with pico de gallo sprinkled on top complemented the mix of flavors very well. My friend loved her Chile Rellenos. There was plenty of melted cheese (mozzarella?) stuffed inside both peppers. Seeing that much cheese almost made me second-guess my order but mine held its own with the side of rice and refried beans. The menu itself contains some unique and unusual Mexican offerings that has tempted me to come back very soon to try out. Those that caught my eye include the Burrito California (mozzarella cheese and french fries with pico de gallo), the Relleno Burrito (chile relleno and a burrito rolled into one....that sounds amazing!) and the Fried Ice Cream (fried vanilla ice cream coated with corn flakes and topped with whipped cream, honey, and chocolate syrup). The employee also told us that a new lunch menu with combos priced at $9.99 will be coming out shortly along with a new version of their take-out menus. read more

After driving by this place nearly every day, I finally decided to stop in and, WOW! Definitely a great addition to the Anchorage delicious-hole-in-the-wall scene. It's in a little strip mall on Bragaw, I think at one point it was two different restaurants and the decor has never changed, when I went you could hear somebody practicing their Christian Rock in a neighboring unit. It's got a weird vibe and I love it. I believe it is family owned, and when I went the guy (I assume one of the owners?) was incredibly friendly and helpful. I got a chimichanga combo and two single tacos - a Pedro's Taco and a Mexican Taco. First of all, the portions are perfect. My chimi was plump full of goodness and the tacos probably have 1.5 or 2 times the meat of other tacos in town. The chimichanga was perfectly fried without being greasy, and topped with their verde sauce. It came with sour cream and guacamole on the side, but I got it To Go so not sure if that would be on top if you ate in. The meat inside was flavorful and plentiful. Even the usually-nondescript traditional rice&beans with the combo was good! The tacos...man I'm in love with their tacos. The meat isn't dry or overcooked like you get with a lot of other street-style tacos in town, and they actually have flavor. The Pedro taco is the traditional street taco, carne asada cilantro like onion. But somehow it tastes so juicy and flavorful? The Mexican taco is pork in a red chili sauce. These were excellent, the chili flavor is robust but not overwhelming, it was a nice small addition that made a big difference for this taco. The only negative I can say about the food is that the tacos are a little bit more expensive a la carte than other places, but you also get more meat and better quality/flavor. I'm drooling about these tacos now, time to go back! read more

Had two lunches here over several days. Restaurant is located in a small strip mall. Easy and plenty of parking. You order at the counter (they also take Apple Pay) and take a seat at a table or booth; they will bring your food out to the table. I had a Special Burrito one day and Crispy tacos the next visit. Food comes out quickly and hot with decent size portions. The refried beans and rice are very good as are their fresh chips and salsa....which they bring you a variety of different salsa flavors and temperatures....the hot IS hot. I ordered a taco salad with grilled chicken as well as a Horchata -Description said taco bowl with beans, grilled chicken, lettuce, shredded cheese, etc. what I got was a salad with shredded chicken, lettuce that was sitting in the soggy juices of the chicken, no beans, with a couple tortilla chips, placed on top and the lettuce had all of the big hard chunky white back ends to it that were browning on the edges. This place wasn't bad, it wasn't great either, and it definitely isn't better than Taco King in my opinion. The young girl running the counter was friendly but lacked service experience. Our food was hot but the rice and beans lacked flavor. The pozole was good but you can tell they use the same broth as the menudo which isn't necessarily a negative but if you want menudo you order menudo. The birria tacos with consome were flavorful, cheesy, and juicy. We also tried the breakfast burrito and enjoyed it as well. Cafe de Olla was not good! Tasted very watery. We were never offered salsa for the tacos and I didn't realize chips and salsa weren't complimentary so we didn't get to try any of that. read more

Ordered a breakfast burrito, it came wet for some reason. Smothered in some red sauce that didn't need to be there. Burrito had chorizo in it and somehow even with the chorizo the burrito was very bland. I asked for a side of sour cream, and they only gave me about half of the container, which was about two bites worth. Burrito factory chorizo burrito is way better. Over all, Pedro's is very blah.
