Dr Norm Blase discovered a rare eye condition when he performed an eye exam on my husband. My husband had seen other Opthamologists and no one ever caught it. Thanks to Dr. Blase, my husband is now getting the proper treatment for his eyes. Your eyesight shouldn't be taken for granted. All these places that advertising cheap glasses/free frames are forgetting something really important: the quality of the doctors who are caring for you. I would like to give it 2 stars but thanks to the helpful and friendly staff I added one more. The doctor was a smart-@$$, never listened to me or asked me any questions about the form you fill out with health history. In fact, the only time he asked anything was when they ask which one you can see better out of. The overall test took 10 minutes and felt rushed. Especially when he asked us to move to another empty room. Could it have been the very casual outfit? Perhaps. Then I started to pick out prices and noticed how high they mark up their products! I left empty handed due to pricing. Since then I have found another retailer with the exact same selection at half the price (and those are their regular prices!). I had such a great experience at this location, it actually made me want to write a review. I came in because I needed to replace my old glasses and had purchased a groupon, and I'm so glad this was the location I chose. The staff was super friendly! They helped me get an additional discount, and gave me sincere recommendations as far as glasses and add-ons. I was only there for less than an hour, and I had my eye exam, pupils dilated, and chose my glasses. I even picked up my glasses less than 24 hours later. I've been wearing glasses for years, and I've never had an experience this pleasant and quick- the way it should be! I have been a Pearle Vision customer at their Milwaukee Ave. location since the late 80's when I lived in the area. Fast forward over 30 years, and I decided to give the Fullerton location a try since it's closer to home and part of the same franchise of doctor/owners. My initial appointment did not go smoothly, with the visit (pre-exam, exam, eyes dilated, post dilated exam) lasting 3 hours. Yes, 3 hours - my appointment was at 3pm, and I was out by 6pm. Clearly a busy location, so plan accordingly. Next, there was some confusion about my contact lens order. At this point, I was ready to yelp a 1 Star review, but they have an operations manager named Julie that truly saved the day. Calm, knowledgeable, friendly and professional are just a few of the adjectives I would use to describe her. As a contact lens wearer herself, she really went above and beyond to help me with the issues with my new prescription. I think Julie's customer service skills are the reason why this franchise is as busy as it is. You will not leave with anything less than a positive experience! read more

I had made a previous appointment and had to canceled. So today I showed up as a walk-in and they were not only courteous, but said it would only take 10-15 minutes. After 5-8minutes they took me right in and were extremely professional. They pulled my old files and gave me a full run/down of my history. Amazing!!!!! Then when it came to picking my glasses the representative (Melissa) was extremely helpful and went way beyond the customer service level to answer and assist with my purchase. What made me write the review, was that I asked about prescription on my sun-glasses and she immediately jump on it and took care of it as well. My children and I walked in yesterday. There was a group of employees standing by the desk and they just looked at us. After 2 minutes one of them said "hi". My purpose of being in the store was to purchase glasses. No one not once said "how can I help you" nothing. I know I'm a young mother of 2 teenage kids and I blend in with them but a half hour in the store and not once asked if they can assist me. My daughter and I found a pair of glasses and I stood there for 5 minutes with he glasses in my hand still nothing . Finally a girl said would you like to purchase those. I was treated not like a customer discriminated against because we are black and look young. I paid my glasses in full and they up charged me. I know because I was going to pearl vision on Milwaukee for 20 years. But this time perk vision on Fullerton was convenient. Their sign said glasses in a hour and they tell me maybe next week. I just want my money back and rather not. I'm educated and pick up on non verbal cues I should have never spent $400.00 in that store. read more

I do not drive so when my glasses broke I called and Gloria, the office manager made an exception and shipped them to me. Customer service is horrendous at this location. I was trialing different brands of contacts and it was nightmare. The first trials came in quickly - within days - and I was called to pick them up. When I called to order a different pair of trials, I first left a voicemail and did not receive a call back. A couple days later I called again (and they had no record of my voicemail?) and the doctor was out so they said they would call me the following day when she was in so she could order the trials. I did not receive a call so I called a THIRD time and they clearly had forgotten about me. They apparently ordered the trials that day and told me it would take 7-10 days for them to come in. After 3 weeks of waiting for these trials, someone calls me to tell me the manufacturer doesn't make trials. It took them THREE weeks to find that out!? I stood up in my friends wedding and didn't have contacts in time because this whole ordeal took over 2 months. I decided to just order my own through 1-800-contacts since I couldn't wait any longer. My doctor was nice and informative but the customer service is terrible. I only had to come here because my insurance changed and I will not be returning. I had an awesome experience coming to the Riverpoint Pearle Vision. From the moment I walked into the door I was greeted by a very friendly host. The representative took me to three different eye machines and was very courteous even though I am a pain with that puffer thing they use to measure pressure of your eye, but we got it done and she was very understanding. I do not like knowing something even as small as a puff of air is going to shoot in my eye , but she reassured me and made me feel better about my obnoxious fear and we got it done! Next, Dr. Hungerford was very professional and personable. He made the process smooth and got me my prescription lenses. Jennifer V. Is an absolute gem to your location. She gives great advice and insight about how glasses are supposed to fit, where you should wear them, and most importantly she is honest about what looks good with your face shape, skin tone, and hair color. She really pays attention to detail. I had five pairs of glasses I was trying to decide on and we easily narrowed them down to a winner. She went over insurance , extra add ins you can opt for in your purchase, and more importantly she built rapport. Not all associates are like this but she made the experience enjoyable but also memorable. Was here recently and continued to receive amazing customer service! I came in for an eye exam and to get new contacts and glasses. Bianca was so patient with me , she helped me understand my insurance, and even picked out the winning pair of glasses . I love them so much! The eye doctors are all great too, my contacts are more comfortable since I started coming here and they are quick when necessary- one time they fit me in with an eye infection right before a trip. Went in for annual eye exam and glasses was told 7-10 days to receive glasses. Called 10 days out no glasses. Called again and was told due to holiday the 10 days would be up on that Wed. Called Saturday 15 days after exam and was told glasses should be in Wed they were just sent to lab for coating. Called back today Fri 3 weeks after exam and still no glasses and no answer as to where they are or when they will arrive. Not too good on the lab/service side. I am used to 1 hour service and at the most 1 week but never 3 weeks and counting. read more

After going to Pearle Vision in the suburbs for years, I thought the service couldn't get any better. Now that I live in the city, I go to the Pearle Vision in Old Town and the service is excellent. Everyone from the people at the front desk, managers, etc are very nice. Dr. Mila Petkovic is very friendly and very nice and I never show up with an appointment (although I dont think that is a good idea and I may be pushing my luck). Regardless, they always try to find a way to squeeze me in and give me advice on my insurance plan to maximize my benefits between contacts and glasses. read more

If I can give it a no-star I will. Don't go to this place if you don't want to wait for over 1 hour even if you call in for an appointment!! I came for an eye exam to get a prescription for new contact lenses. My previous optometrist went out of town so I figured I try Pearl vision which is accessible to where I live. I spent over two hours in this place just to get a prescription. Oh and they tried to hold my prescription hostage for ransom of $500. One of the technician told me that the prescription is not final and that I have to purchase a pair of contact lenses which is worth $200 a piece and then that's when they will give me the final prescription. No way!!! Of course I didn't get the lenses from them because I can get it for 75% less online as long as I have the prescription. The technician told me I have to wait for 20 mins to get the prescription. Over thirty minutes later I was ignored like I have leprosy (I paid for my eye exam fee already). If I did not raise my voice and almost caused a scene I'll still be held hostage from this rip-off place!! That's when the tech finally went back in the exam area and talked to one of the optometrists. I got my prescription and left that place as fast as I can and never looked back. read more
