A click of employees in the left rear raised their heads to watch me come in. Nothing. No greeting No welcome. No stroll over to see if I need help...I did need help. I walked down a row of garments... Most were covered in plastic...a good sign if you ask me, yet I didn't want to start removing plastic to see the fabric, I felt that would be inappropriate and employee intervention was needed. I looked up several times to either see stares at me, or total dismissal. Clearly the owner was absent! Not a good sign for service. Especially considering I'd need tailoring. I slowly walked out hoping to elicit a response..anywhere from Could we help you? Or Thanks for stopping by.. Nothing. Went thrifting this afternoon and my first stop was Black and Brown. I'd never been there before…read moreand wasn't sure what to expect. Wow, what an amazing store. They mainly sell vintage and modern secondhand clothes, bags, and shoes for women and men, but they also have new pottery from a designer called Familiar. The store is spacious and carefully curated. There is no thrift shop smell and it looks more like a cute boutique than a secondhand store. You can sell your clothes there, too. There are two floors of women's clothes and a separate men's shop across a little courtyard in the back. Most of the customers when I was there were young adults of both sexes. The store was busy on a Saturday in the late afternoon. Fortunately, they have a dedicated parking lot behind the shop with plenty of spaces. The staff welcomed me immediately when I walked in. I was interested in looking at purses and they had quite a few vintage and newer ones from designers like Coach, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, and Dooney & Bourke. I didn't buy any, but enjoyed checking out what they had to offer. I didn't pay too much attention to the clothes, except to notice that women's pant sizes on the second floor only seemed to go up to size 11/12. If they had bigger sizes, I didn't see them. Overall, I was impressed with Black and Brown and would like to go back.

I never received a call like they said I would so I waited all weekend and when I finally came to pick it up they had sent over the wrong size. The owner then forced us to go pick it up in Daly City if I wanted it that same day and offered no partial refund or even a discount on a future purchase. Will be blasting them on TikTok. Order on Stock X. Associate also made us uncomfortable asking us about our ethnicity instead of just checking us out.

5 for nostalgia…read more Gavin asked me if I can get him a sweatshirt and sweatpants from here and I immediately remembered asking my parents to take me here during my middle school years to which my parents only bought me a belt there because they did not approve of the style I desired. I told him he is lucky to have a parent that understands and willing to listen, but I also told him I will not buy him anything because I need to approve it first (as well). So, I guess the style regurgitates as well as parenting-style. Service was great. A big store with many items to look through (jeans, sweatpants, sweaters, sweat shirts, polo shirts, shoes, belts, etc.). The fitting rooms are in the front and look out for sales as well. I told Gavin we will return so I can get him another sweatshirt. I wish I was 13 again. Now I'm 43.
