Peaches Corner has been serving burgers and dogs since 1937 on the waterfront of the Grand Strand. It's an old school hot dog joint that serves classic American food, ice cream, shakes, floats, and beer. We stopped in late after a very disappointing experience at a Myrtle Beach AYCE sushi and hibachi restaurant and couldn't have been happier. The staff was friendly, chatty and fast. The food was great. I had two short dogs loaded with mustard, onions and their very tasty chili. Chased that with some really good fries (I don't normally go for fries) and a Pepsi. We don't usually come to the beach often, but we came to Peaches on our honeymoon and it was fantastic. You wouldn't notice it at first, but it's a homey feeling place that has great food at a great price. Had the peaches burger basket and fried pickles and it was great. Ate here after some recommendations. The food is good. I had their Famous Burger Basket. The burger was very good, I would say one the best I've had. The burger is a double patty, double cheese, lettuce, tomato, & mayo. The french fries were good too. My wife had the pulled pork sandwhich, it was very good too. Hole in the wall, limited seating, has a jice 50s diner look, Small menu but a heart clogging heaven.. i had the deep fried burger and a beer... soooo good. My friend and I decided to go up to the boardwalk and walk the whole thing , now that the summer crowd was gone and we had never been on the full length of it ,despite the fact that we live here. Because of all the crime on Ocean Blvd. we decided it would be safer to leave our purses in the car ,so we wouldn't tempt anyone to rob us along the way .We just took a few dollars and credit card and cell in our pockets. We passed a few homeless men sleeping on the beach decks, and one gang of guys and a few more drunk looking guys up by the giant Ferris wheel. Didn't see any of those police that are supposed to be on bicycles , so can't say it wasn't a little nerve racking wondering what we would encounter next! On the way back to our car we stopped in the Gay Dolphin gift shop ,which has been there since when I was in grade school . I used to go there on our vacations to buy shark teeth jewelry , I'm now a senior citizen so it's fun to look around in there ,they say they have over 60 thousand gift items! We decided to add to our historic visit by having lunch at Peaches Corner dinner , that has been on Ocean Blvd since 1937 ,owned by now same three generations of the same family.It is winter now on our visit ,so it was pretty much empty , we sat in a booth .I had my little tea cup poodle with me in her carrier ,but the manager said it was ok to bring her in . We just ordered one fries and the regular Chile dogs , we asked for water but they don't give glasses of water there you have to buy a bottle for 2.00 , and a coke was almost 3.00 ,so didn't get that since we had just bought a 12 pack of cola at Kroger's for 2.50 that was in car ,Lol .The waitress, manager,cook who was the only one there said you do get a free refill with your soft drinks though ,to soften the cost of the drink .Food was ok and she was very nice ,even offered to give my little dog a chicken wing ,which she enjoyed . The bill for the fries, two dogs and bottle of water came to 11.00. This place is jammed in the Summer with all kinds of visitors . And like all restaurants in Myrtle Beach they hire extra help to deal with the millions of visitors that visit the strand so you will probably have a teen or college waitress or waiter , working a summer job with little experience that just wants to earn some fun money .So if you stop in there in summer season , prepare yourself for not the best customer service ! I'm sure you probably can't get a seat then because it is only a few booths and a long counter like most dinners. It is just a good place to come off the beach ,have a quick burger, hotdog ,fries and something to drink . We got a short dog with mustard, onions, and ketchup, a short corn dog, and two shakes. The shakes were a little bland, they didn't have very much flavor. Sat a the bar in a party of six, one young lady welcomed us, waited 15 mins and nobody else ever said a word to us. The place was not busy at all and we waited and waited. It was about 15 minutes before someone took our order. Another 20 minutes before we were served our order....4 milkshakes and a Diet Coke. My husband wanted a hot fudge sundae, but they don't serve that anymore even though its on the menu. The one milkshake was the incorrect flavor, but we didn't complain because we were not waiting for a new one to be made. There was another couple that walked out because nobody acknowledged them and the table across from us was complaining as well about the service. I would never go back. Me and my husband recently stopped at this restaurant to eat there were a couple of tables empty so we just had a seat since they seemed to be busy aT the time. A few customers were checking out so we waited patiently to order but we were not even acknowledged at all. Another couple walked in the waiter immediately cleaned the table off for them and began to take their order. Been coming to Peaches Corner since 1969 and my dad been going there since the 50's and ate here alot when I moved to Myrtle Beach in the mid 70's and make it a point in stopping in with my daughter since I moved to Fla. and hope when she grows up and have children of her own she will be able to bring them to Peaches. The food is good but I always get the same thing the foot long chili cheese dog. The service has always been slow but the staff are usually friendly enough if you can get there attention long enough to place your order. This is how they get you...signs announcing "Worlds Greatest Foot long Hot Dog" "Best Cheese Fries" so I fell for it obviously. Location is great right on the corner of entering the busy boardwalk shopping area this is how they must stay in business, because there food is obviously not the case here. I ordered two foot longs for my family to be drenched with canned chilli and coleslaw not a very good combination if you ask me diarrhea waiting to happen and I am stuck in the car with them. I ordered myself a cheeseburger nothing special just a frozen patty. I almost canceled my order as I noticed the cook was not wearing any gloves touching the food then touching the stove, wiping himself on his shirt. Seats are all torn, they definitely need to change their sings because the DO NOT live up to their claims. First time here today, after many years of coming to the beach. I had the famous footlong with chili, onion and mustard, my kids each had hotdogs as well. Everything was good and served quick. The cook was entertaining as well, singing and playing air drums while working. The sweet potato fries were ok, a lil over cooked, my son had a vanilla shake that he liked. I visited this place 2 separate times during my stay. Each time the order was wrong, each time we waited for over 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledge we were there. We also heard the cook express his dissatisfaction with having to remake a burger for a customer. I ordered a sandwich specifically asking for a certain condiment to not be on it due to me being allergic to it. I was very polite and apologized that she had to return it even though I told her I don't want it on the sandwich to begin with. The young woman took the sandwich back and a few moments later it was returned to me. I looked at the sandwich before I bit into it and realized something. The cook took the burger off the bun and just put it on a new bun with the same lettuce and tomatoe that had the condiment on it to begin with! I decided to just pay for it and throw it away. I did not feel like having my food spit in because this place gave that sort of vibe if you were dissatisfied. Like I said earlier the cook was complaining out loud about having to remake a burger for a customer. It is also way over priced for the food your are getting. The management needs to make some changes but they won't. They do so much business on that strip that even a little old bad review won't make management pay attention and or change anything.
