The service is ok, but she indicated the server really needs to write things down to before efficient. Her particular server was friendly but had to come back to verify what she ordered, and forgot that she had ordered home fried potatoes instead of grits. My wife told me it just opened back up again about a week ago. She had a southern style breakfast with eggs, bacon, potatoes, biscuit and sauage gravy. She particularly like the biscuit, and her only disappointment was that her bacon was overcooked (generally she likes crispy bacon so if she says it was overcooked, it definitely was). Her server was friendly and attentive, and inside atmosphere nice. Overall, she gad a very good experience.

Food was really good and the presentation of the dishes was nice as well as the service. However I am giving few starts this time because the ambiance was not great. In the middle of our dinner, the servers were swearing the floor and cleaning the empty tables, spraying cleaners, ugh it was not good. The dinner experience went out of the window. We ordered coffee, an omelet, and a scrambled egg sandwich. One of the things that attracted us was the restaurant's claim of being a scratch kitchen that uses premium ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to those expectations. The coffee was disappointing--watery and weak. We were told they grind their own dark roast beans, which led me to expect an excellent cup of coffee. However, if too little coffee is used when brewing the pot, even great beans produce weak coffee. That was definitely the case here. At $4.00 per cup, I expect a quality cup of coffee, and this one simply wasn't worth the price or frankly, any price. The omelet was ordered with bacon and caramelized onions. We specifically asked our server to make sure the onions were well caramelized, but they were not. Even more noticeable was the amount of bacon. It completely overwhelmed the dish--it felt more like bacon with a little egg than an omelet. Finally, the scrambled eggs on the sandwich weren't really scrambled at all. They were cooked as one solid sheet, more like a thin omelet. For a restaurant that specializes in breakfast, brunch, and lunch, consistently preparing eggs should be one of its strengths. I truly hope whoever oversees the kitchen takes these comments in the constructive spirit they're intended. The restaurant has a great concept and quality ingredients, but paying closer attention to execution and consistency would make a significant difference. I'd be happy to give Famous Toastery another try if these issues are addressed.
