Got the Turkey, Bacon and Avocado Sandwich to go. Yes, I ate half of it already, lol. Delicious sandwich!

This was my first visit to this restaurant. So when I walked in, the woman at the counter was very friendly and helpful. I asked her about how a couple of the menu items tasted and she was honest enough to tell me she hadn't tried them. The place appears to be a great family restaurant, but since they close at 2:00 pm every day, it may be better for a little alone time.

While the older woman at the counter was quite pleasant, I was Not impressed with the food nor the prices. I ordered oatmeal for me and a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich for my Dad. Our to go order came out wrong. The was no bacon and no cheese on the egg sandwich. The egg bagel sandwich (I asked for toast) was served with lettuce and tomato on it. Further, the online menu said that the sandwich came with a side of grits. No grits. They gave us a pickle At 9 a.m.? A pickle? Really?! ‍ While the woman who originally took our order immediately attempted to right the wrongs, the order was still not correct. They added the bacon and cheese, but never gave us the toast, and we got NO GRITS! I was over it and ready to leave and therefore didn't push the issue.

This was the first place that popped up on WAZE and I'm so glad it was. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Calm, quiet and super friendly staff. Our server, Kim, while taking our order was almost guessing what I wanted before I said it. I should've just had her order for me because I would eat anything on the menu. I'm a breakfast lover btw :) I wish this place many years of success because they deserve it...and give Kim a raise!

Visited last in late March of 2025 and had very poor service. It was not busy, with maybe 6-8 other patron groups on arrival. Our server took a good few minutes to even come over to our table. Food timing took FOREVER, I am talking well over 35 minutes for our appetizer order and then another 20-30 minutes to get our main courses, while other tables seated after us got appetizers and main courses before us. And then when this review was written, December 28th 2025, we came back hoping it's improved, but service still slow. It was maybe twice as packed from my last visit but it still took 15 minutes before our server came, and another 20-25 minutes for our appetizer to come in while a later seated table got 2 appetizers long before us, and wasn't checked in on to order main course until moments before the appetizer came out. The main course then took another 35+ minutes, with no regular updates on status in kitchen. And the server kept going to every single table around us that came after us instead of even taking our order so we sat there with menus for 30 minutes. Table nearby us was even complaining about the service and food quality to the supervisor. While the food was still okay, not worth the "long wait times" in kitchen and server quality is not the best. If the servers were a little more regular with checking on your table, kitchen timing a little more faster would be better but I can only give this place at most 2/5 stars on a good day. Will not ever be coming to this location again lol.

This evening was a very good experience, mostly. Let's get the less than positive out of the way. We made reservations for 5PM. We were out and about and got there about a half an hour early. Walk in, spoke with the hostess and explained we knew we were early. (By the way, there were very few people in the restaurant at the time). The Hostess, an older female with longish greying hair, huffed then showed us to a table. She at least took us to an outside table as we requested. She never identified herself. And honestly we felt as if we were bothering her. Ok, enough of that. Now the positive. Our server was Taylor. This young man was awesome. He was upbeat and personable. Very pleasant and wanted to communicate, not just serve us. My wife and I asked for water, and ordered an appetizer of their Mac and Cheese balls. They were awesome. Hot, fresh, stuffed with pasta and warm flavorful cheese. Next we ordered cocktails. My wife ordered a Painkiller. Me an Old Fashion. Taylor recommended I try their version, New Fashion. Made with their mix of a house Bourbon. Man it was good. And the Painkiller? Let's just saw I held my wife hand, and guided her to our vehicle. For our main courses, my wife had the chicken and sausage pasta. I had the Bison Ribeye. Both we would order again without hesitation. The pasta dish was huge. With two breasts and numerous pieces of sausage. Over Fettuccini style pasta, with a lite and flavorful red sauce. It tasted fresh, and rich. She could only eat about a third of it. The rest came home. I ordered my Bison medium rare. The Chef hit it perfectly. Beautiful red meat in the center, nice and warm. So much flavor, and tender. With it I had the potato of the day. They were mashed with the skin. Full of butter, milk, and seasoned. In addition I had a side of creamed spinach. Very rich and deep. The cream tasted similar to a cheese sauce. So good. I brought nothing home. Finished the entire meal there. In addition, because it was our anniversary, the gave us a very nice card. And a piece of cake for dessert. Champaign was offered, but neither of us drink it, and didn't want to waste it. If you haven't tried Crooked Oak Tavern, you are missing a very nice experience.

The host very kindly escorted me there & what a great surprise! The Tap Room host, Joanne, saw me looking a bit lost & greeted me. I'm old school enough that as a woman I felt awkward being in an unfamiliar town in a bar full of strangers. Joanne reassured me & checked on me throughout the evening. I had a fabulous Old Fashion, enjoyed the multiple TV's & ended up conversing & laughing with a whole family who were also visiting. That spontaneous decision turned into one of our favorite discoveries. We had just moved from Virginia to Conway and were still getting a feel for the area, so everything felt new. The restaurant offered both indoor and outdoor seating, but the real draw? A peaceful view of the Waccamaw Riverwalk. Sitting outside, overlooking the water, we instantly relaxed--it was the perfect welcome to our new town. Then came the food--and wow. We were blown away. I ordered the seafood sampler loaded with shrimp, oysters, catfish, tater tots, and coleslaw. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. My wife went with the pulled pork dinner, complete with classic sides, pickles, and Texas toast. We swapped bites and couldn't stop raving about how good everything was--especially for the price. Coming from Virginia, I thought I knew BBQ--ketchup-based and familiar. But this was something else entirely. That rich, tangy mustard-based South Carolina barbecue completely changed my expectations. It was a delicious surprise that instantly made me a fan. Our waitress let us know they served brunch on weekends--so back we went. Same riverside view, same laid-back vibe, but a whole new level of indulgence. I ordered the Brunch Chimichanga--crispy, savory perfection--while my wife went all-in on the Brunch Burger: French toast, sausage beef patty, over-easy egg, bacon, American cheese, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and hashbrown casserole. Yes, it was as incredible as it sounds. Now, Bonfire Taqueria isn't just a place we tried--it's a place we return to again and again. Great food, relaxing views, and a welcoming atmosphere make it one of our go-to spots to unwind, sip a drink, and soak in everything we love about downtown Conway.

Helen and I discovered it while scouting out local spots, and its location couldn't be better--just steps from the scenic Conway Riverwalk, surrounded by charming shops and historic buildings. Even the street parking (easy parallel with a two-hour window) felt like part of the laid-back, small-town experience. From the moment we walked in, the vibe hit just right: cozy, welcoming, and full of locals who clearly know a good thing when they see it. The staff made us feel right at home--friendly, attentive, and happy to help us navigate the menu. We kicked things off with the cold lobster dip, and let me tell you--this isn't your average appetizer. Imagine a creamy lobster roll transformed into a rich, indulgent dip, packed with chunks of lobster and served with warm pita points. It was the kind of dish you don't want to share... but have to. Helen went for the Reuben--perfectly stacked with shaved corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and house-made Thousand Island, all grilled on black rye. I opted for the seafood platter with fish and shrimp, cooked to perfection. The fries were hand-cut, the seafood was fresh and flavorful, and while the jalapeño dill slaw had a bit more kick than I expected, the rest of the plate absolutely delivered. As we soaked in the atmosphere, we spotted a plate of loaded Brussels sprouts heading to another table--crispy, golden, tossed in garlic parmesan sauce, and topped with bacon and shredded parmesan. Safe to say, that's already on our must-try list for next time. And so is their "Everything but the Hen" wrap--a hearty combo of shaved steak, grilled shrimp, bacon, fresh veggies, provolone, and horseradish mayo wrapped up in a soft tortilla. Yes, it sounds as good as it looks. The best part? After a couple of beers, a full seafood platter, a loaded Reuben, and that incredible lobster dip, our total was still under $50--even with tip and tax. Great food, great prices, and a relaxed, local vibe--The Crafty Rooster Bar and Grill has officially earned a spot on our regular rotation. We'll definitely be back for more.
