Lots of promises but poor follow through sums up our experience with PDX movers. Ours was not the easiest move (interstate) with a number of pieces of high value heavy wood furniture. However, they knew from the beginning exactly what was being moved and assured us they could handle everything. We were promised that they would be in touch with us a couple of weeks before the move but the only contact was when we called them. We had them pack the fragile items. NEVER AGAIN. I thought glasses would be packed in a "dish pack". No, instead every little item was wrapped in so much paper there ended up being just a few items per box. In the end this left us with literally dozens of boxes filled with paper. What a mess!! One item actually broke because we couldn't find it in all the paper! The next issue was that one team packed the trucks and a separate team drove the trucks to Las Vegas and unloaded them. The ones who disassembled items and loaded the truck did a terrific job. The ones who drove and were in charge of unloading did their best but...from moment one they said they were scheduled to return on an earlier flight than normal so they were really under time pressure. A team of local movers was hired to help but they were a ragtag bunch and basically useless. When we asked for our furniture to be reassembled, one of the drivers kept saying we don't do that. But the other team had disassembled the pieces and reassured us they would put them back together. I ended up having to reinstall drawers and doors myself! A heavy table was reassembled incorrectly and they had to hire someone to come and fix the problem. Overall, the team that disassembled things should have been the team that unloaded and reassembled them. Such a disorganized mess. One of the drivers was so concerned about missing their flight. I felt they needed to stay and complete the job correctly and take a later flight if necessary. Another bad review from that weekend, leads me to believe they were just over-committed but this was a VERY expensive move and should have been scheduled appropriately. This team of guys took great care of all of my furniture wrapping it securely in blankets and wrap. They were able to get a second truck onsite within an hour when we ran out of space on the first truck (due my mistake on the original inventory sheet). With all the 5 star reviews I was expecting a lot more but I was disappointed. The movers were great guys, worked extremely fast and friendly. But I was surprised that they didn't cover ANY of my furniture with blankets. I should have said something but on move in day everything was so hectic. They only shrink wrapped some of the furniture and with some furniture they just moved it as is with no protection. Some of my furniture now has cracks in corners and scratches. I wished they had used blankets on ALL furniture. read more

Everyone I worked with at PDX Movers was great -- friendly, professional, and very patient with my questions. From Teddy who gave be the quote to Cory who checked in several tones before the move (and once during) to Billy, Zander, and Brady who came with a problem-solving attitude and made sure everything went smoothly. The movers themselves were incredibly nice and efficient in packing up my entire apartment for a cross-country move, but the real stand out of PDX Movers is David. The company that handled our actually delivery in NYC really managed to mess up a few things and David was with us every step of the way until things got sorted (which unfortunately took several months). David epitomizes customer service. The problems we had were not at all his fault, but he fought along side us to ensure we got refunded for some of the damage done during our delivery. Any company led by someone with that level of integrity I would recommend and use again myself. Moves are always a pain, so the least you can do is find a company with solid management. I can speak only to their delivery service (from Wayfair), but I can say that I would never recommend this company. They do not communicate appropriately about delivery of items, and take forever to deliver if you live outside the Portland area. It took 13 days from my item's arrival at their warehouse for them to even contact me about a delivery time. This was despite my contacting them approximately one week after it arrived (where their representative was able to give me no information). Quite conveniently, I only received communication after I contacted Wayfair (since Wayfair indicated communication within 2 business days). On the day of delivery, I was contacted to say their truck broke down and that they would have to reschedule my delivery with no estimated delivery date. Because this was their issue, I would have expected them to at least attempt to deliver within a reasonable time frame. Instead it took an additional 10 days (since they clearly waited until they had a full truck bound for Longview rather than prioritize the items that had been waylaid by their company's issues). I didn't expect overnight delivery of my furniture but would expect a company like this to have a proper communication plan in place especially given their use of automated messages, and a desire to actually rectify problems that are their fault, like a truck breaking down. read more

I've always been the type of person who thinks that paying five friends with beer and pizza constitutes "hiring movers". But, after working with PDX Movers I will never again go back to just having friends move all my heavy furniture. These guys moved all of our heavy, cumbersome items such as large couches, bed sets, a wardrobe that is awkward and has nothing to hold on to, etc. In just 2 hours our entire house was moved. The best part? They wouldn't let me carry a thing! All I had to do was sit back, drink a mimosa, and cheer them on as they made this the easiest move I've ever had. read more

I hired PDX Movers last year when I had to get out of my apartment pretty quickly. I was completely unprepared for the move- almost nothing was packed or cleaned. The apartment was messy and cluttered, and I had a ton of trash/furniture to be taken to the dumpster and Goodwill. Two nice young men showed up on time and ready to work. They didn't seem at all fazed by the sad state of affairs in my apartment., or by the fact that I was a bit of a wreck. They got right to carefully boxing up all of my possessions. I was really flustered at the prospect of moving so much stuff out of the apartment, but when they arrived they took over all of the organization and heavy lifting so I knew I didn't have to worry anymore. Possessions, furniture to go to Goodwill, and tons and tons of trash were moved out in lightning fast time and before I knew it, the apartment was empty. They even asked me if I wanted them to go back in and pick up any debris after everything was in the moving truck. They were able to drop off a ton of my furniture at Goodwill before taking my possessions onto my final destination. I was so impressed with the 2 movers that helped me, they had great work ethic and were very pleasant. They were very professional, quick, and efficient. (Unfortunately I can't remember their names as this was a few months ago) I'm actually hiring the same company for my next move in 2 weeks (this one will be much more organized). Hopefully I won't be moving for a while after this, but I'd recommend these guys to anyone in a heartbeat. You can't beat their prices and the quality of their work speaks for itself. read more

I had an excellent experience with PDX Movers. Despite small streets and many stairs, the crew kept the move just under the 2 hour minimum and saved me a ton of time and money. The movers were respectful, quick, and communicative. The team lead explained the paperwork and procedure clearly. I was nervous about the truck not fitting down the small street I live on, but the driver navigated it without issue. Additionally, the man who did my estimate was spot on with his time estimate and recommended team size, so there were no surprises in terms of cost. These guys are the best. A few weeks ago, Mike, Chris, and Aaron unloaded a 26ft Penske truck that I had driven from out of state. All I can say is that these guys were AWESOME! On time, finished the job--a very full 2BR apartment that was up a flight of stairs--in 2hrs, were beyond careful, and were just a really nice/friendly group of guys. I'd say VERY nearly 5 star-rating for this company! The movers took a little longer than we were quoted for/expected (3.5 hours when we were *hoping* for 3), but the customer service from all ends was fantastic. The movers worked VERY hard and did not damage a single thing (there was a minor hole in the wall of the new place towards the end of unloading, but someone came back and this was repaired quickly and well!). Every phone call and email exchange was fantastic. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing assistance with a move (if we need movers in the future I would hire them again). Ordered a chair, an ottoman and a couch from Wayfair which used this company to deliver them. Two out of the three were delivered with no problem. Which is shocking since they were incredibly disorganized with the last. I took off work on Monday in order to be available for the delivery window of my couch that was confirmed via text. It was nearing the end of the delivery window so I called to confirm it was on its way. It wasn't. Apparently when they called to confirm the ottoman for Saturday's delivery, they failed to tell me I would also be getting the couch. Since I was waiting around on Monday for it, it clearly wasn't delivered. That's because they only sent one person on Saturday who wasn't able to deliver the couch (I feel like this is something that should have been figured out when loading up the truck?) The best solution they could offer was the last delivery on Tuesday at 4:00pm; I begrudgingly accepted even though I would have to leave work a little early to be there. I got a voicemail on Tuesday at 1:30pm saying that my couch would be delivered in the next half-hour and if I wasn't there to sign for it, it wasn't going to be delivered. So I called once again, to find out two other deliveries were cancelled and the drivers/company would rather be done with their day, than hold my appointment and offered to deliver it the next day. I told them to deliver it without a signature because I'm done dealing with them. The person on the phone felt some sympathy but was no help. The company's organization and customer service offerings need a revisit. read more

One of the best moving experiences I've had! The team communicated their arrival time and took great care by protecting our banisters, railings, doors and, of course, our furniture. Edited: I was excepting this response from David. He is not being truthful. While I have had extremely poor experiences in the past with poor contractors it has zero to do with my experience with him. I'm not sure what he refers to as opportunity to give them what they needed. According to him the fact his employee broke policy is my fault and because I didn't have my deceased mothers jewelry assessed upon her death it's my problem. Their resolution was go along with insurance or drive back to Portland for arbitration. I refused to make a final payment because what their insurance provides is an absolute joke, and regardless of what the employee does, if it's against protocol it's your fault. Like others on these reviews I had a poor moving experience. I had so many things damaged and destroyed I couldn't even get them all sent over. 12k worth of outdoor furniture all dinged up and the "insurance" pays for maybe repair spray paint. They shoved lamp shades together in boxes and broke multiple fake plants. I had them pack as well and so many valuables were broken beyond repair. Buyer beware they will accuse you of not following contract/protocol etc even when their employees are in the wrong and they will accuse you of changing stories etc, anything except admit their employees may be in the wrong. They broke my husbands bike tire just trying to load it. The guy was trying to be honest about it saying dude I think I broke the bike and the rest of the crew told him to shut up and keep moving. Owners response was that it's normal for them to get broken because moving is hard business. Beyond missing pieces and damaged furniture was the fact that I came upstairs to my bedroom in which a girl with curly blond hair had removed my jewelry drawers and wrapped them in moving paper. I told her to be careful because it was valuable and she said don't worry that's why I wrap them tight with tape so that nothing falls out etc. Well when I was unable to locate items I was told it was my problem because I didn't have complete appraisals and that I was the one that had broken protocol because they don't move valuables and insurance won't cover them. If their protocol isn't to move valuables then perhaps their employees shouldn't wrap them up. I strongly advise you don't allow them to pack your home for you. Also if you do book them make sure you unpack every single box immediately and be prepared with pictures of everything. While most of us don't have time to unpack a large house and usually end up with boxes still unpacked a year later you will be sorry. After the fact realized they had also destroyed a 2k tv but it was past their appropriate time frame and I was already being called a liar so why waste my time on them any longer. read more

This company was amazing to work with!!!!!!!! There were a couple of initial miscommunication issues, but they got resolved quickly. I honestly can't express how easy they made our move out, storage, and move in ( which got complicated) happen so flawless. And the crew that came to our home both times weee amazing. They move so quick and efficient yet take the time to care about your belongings. They were sooooo aware that we had just bought a brand new home and they needed to be extra careful! And we had a very tricky corner that required some skill and thinking to get the furniture through. They didn't rush and they took the time to take the legs off our couches to make them fit! PDX movers was supposed to deliver a kitchen island to me. They called to let me know they were delivering with NO prior notice. They just expected to "show up". When I explained that the HOA required a 24 notice of deliveries, they said a receptionist would call back so I could pick a time. I requested a phone number to call, so I could ensure I had a means to pick a time. They refused. They still have not called to pick a time (surprise surprise), but did call with an automated voice saying they would deliver today from 4pm-8pm... HOA bans deliveries after 5pm. I have been calling over and over to notify them that this 4 hour window does not work... No answer, no call back. This is unbelievably aggravating, and completely unprofessional. read more

WOW, things have changed in the year since I last used PDX Movers. My first two moves were 5 star experiences. This move was about on par with hiring a couple guys out of the Home Depot parking lot. My furniture is damaged, and I have a garage full of furniture that was loaded in there because the crew felt that it would take them another hour plus to move it into the house. The "crew lead's" solution; "book us again".....you have to be kidding me. What was once a decent organization is now rubbish. Thankfully I have found another company that was easy to set up quotes with, showed up on time and performed the work with care and speed. After initially posting a sub-par review of this company, as the result of a mix up with our delivery and an unpleasant experience with their driver, I have decided to amend my rating after service recovery by the company's owner. We received a call from the owner, who agreed to make things right. Another driver brought the correct item and delivered to us this morning, as promised. They got my stuff from Costco distribution to my place up the stairs. That they did well at. Where they failed was communication. Called with automated response. Closed before I could call back. Spoke to live person and scheduled a time. I asked to move it later and they said not possible. Fast forward to day of delivery. I phone call. Get off work early. Sit and wait. Call them and they say my time frame is 5 hours later than previously quoted. read more

I wrote a review on yelp earlier and to my surprise, yelp removed it calling "content guidelines"! Here is my try again. This time I am giving them a better rating than my previous though 1. Very expensive. Also, they have a min 4 hour charge on some days. Note: I am not looking for cheap labor. I know the diff b/w cheap labor, reasonable cost and expensive. Somewhat :) I can say a few more, but yelp or something else will take advantage of it and remove the review, I suspect. I was just rudely hung up on by David of PDX Movers when I called to inquire about the delivery of my couch. I have not received any communication whatsoever from them about setting up a delivery time, so I called Costco yesterday and they said it would be delivered today Dec. 8th Since PDX Movers have been so flaky and unprofessional about communicating with me, I called to see if I could find out. I was fed the biggest bunch of BS, song and dance by david and he finished our conversation by hanging up on me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! There is something inherently wrong with their business practices, and Im going to let Costco and Lifestyle know. There are many more professional and courteous moving companies around who would love to work with Lifestyle and Costco, instead of these rude clowns... Really 4 1/2 stars, only a slight ding as compared to the guys who moved us across country were hard to live up to. We'd relocated from out of state to a townhouse for a few months until we found our permanent home. PDX Mover were the local guys we hired to move us 3 miles across town. Mike was the estimator and lead mover on moving day. A great guy, I can see why he was the lead. Not to disparage Aaron or Andrei at all. Showed up about 10 minutes after appointment (fine by me but I know som people get butt hurt over such little details). They did a great job getting everything loaded and unloaded in 2 trips in a 26 footer (may have been able to do it in one but made more sense to not try and puzzle it all in being so close). Made it right on time for the budget I wanted and I laughed a bit during the day. Good guys, would use again. FYI they took care of my stuff too. We packed it all, it moved from Texas to here and again locally...65% unpacked (kitchen 100%) and only one glass broken in the whole lot. I'm not saying they have a gentle touch but ladies I am pretty sure they are single. You should give them some work and may be your number. (ha) ;) read more

I would not use this company again. I moved an entire household of furniture and belongings to a new home only 15 min. away. Although the PDX crew was congenial and on time, by the time everything was delivered to my new home, nearly every piece of furniture had a dent, ding, chip or some abrasion on it. The worst was that the movers, while coming down the stairs with a piece of furniture, gouged the painted plaster wall in three places (each over 1"), revealing the white of the plaster underneath the paint. I called the "boss" over and showed him the wall. I said that it was totally unacceptable, that my house was showing in three days and he needed to get this fixed by then. He agreed that it was bad, took pictures and said he would "expedite" the report. Well, that was 9 days ago and I have never heard from anyone at PDX Movers. I ended up having to scramble and repair the wall so the house could be shown. I realize that it is not uncommon for mistakes to be made, but I was waiting to see if PDX would respond to this and take responsibility. Since they have not, and so many things were damaged, I can't recommend them. read more

I had two movers come out on July 3rd (one of the hottest days of the year) to help me move. Here it is several months later and I am writing a review about how great they were. The prices were very fair and the movers were total professionals. When you move its always a crapshoot on the quality service you will receive. By the time they arrive you have to take what you can get which can be too late and your furniture gets thrashed. Next time I move there will be no hesitation I am calling PDX movers. read more
