    Our terrific movers!
    Kara L.

We used PDX Movers for our move today and they were fantastic. 5 stars for their communication, timeliness, responsibility, honesty and hard work. Jacob (lead), Carlos and Cody H. also happen to be great people - our dog loved them so much she tried to leave with them :) We will definitely be using PDX Movers again and recommend them to our friends. Thanks to our crew for making our move so easy. We appreciate it.

    Moving team unloading the truck!

Our crew of Marcus, Eric, and Chico were amazing on our recent move from Tigard up to Washington state. They were friendly, efficient and careful with all of our belongings. Communication was great from them and the team at the office, especially Max, who answered so many of my questions! I would definitely recommend them to others!

Bent Leg on new sofa due to a 4' drop off the truck.
    Brad S.

Dropped our new furniture multiple times. Once off the truck, from 4 feet up onto asphalt bending the leg of our new outdoor lounge chair, and into our garden crushing multiple plants. There was no regard or care for our new purchase. When I called they transferred me to someone who lacked any compassion for what happened and did not want to correct or improve their ways... Is it too much of a pain to ask/train staff to not drop packages?

Extremely professional and personable team. Under promised and over delivered both in timeline and budget. Can't recommend them enough.

I should have just gotten my friends and a uhaul to move, but i was promised it would take 5hrs. i was billed 5.5hrs. tip top of the money i had left. and they didn't even have time to move everything. why? because their recklessness with my things i didn't want them carrying my computer monitors. they were hired to pack and move stuff across portland. they came at 1:30 when they said only to tell me that they didn't know they needed all the packing stuff. they eventually arrived nearly 2hrs later and towards the END Of the original window i was promised without any 'hey we will be there at this ETA' they said they got stuck behind a train, which is fine i guess? but no update after that until i called and complained, which got me a 5% discount, which is nice i guess? but like everything that happened after were MASSIVE red flags, both for the computer and the 'movers' which felt like contractors they just hired for whatever without properly vetting. i had a small move, 2 rooms. they were the slowest movers and most reckless movers i've ever hired. but i don't really blame them fully for that. supposedly they were working since 8am and just drove up from salem or something. they didn't even eat lunch. is that even legal?! no wonder they came to the door exhausted already and out of it. These 2 guys did the best they could, but honestly with how exhausted I was from helping them (something i SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO), they were doing a good job, but that doesn't really matter. in the end this guy ruined my 2000 custom built standing desk for music. not sure if i can get it repaired or fixed. he undid it and said he will put it back together. it was pretty easy just a few bolts into the joints between the wooden top and the legs and putting on the keyboard tray. easy stuff for the most part (when you have a drill, i don't own one). this guy didn't even look at where he was drilling or understand how the desk was put together after showing him specific things. he just drilled in the bolts and they hit a part that they're supposed to go into but was put in backwards making it impossible (on purpose) to get the screw in. this guy just kept drilling harder and harder and when i asked him about it he was like yeah it's supposed to sound like that. He either was so exhausted he couldn't think straight or just took on tasks he could have said 'yeah i don't know how to do that, can you do it?' either way now i have a broken desk that's only partially built and put together. i am really glad i moved all of my expensive stuff to my place with a friend last weekend, because they definitely would have broken a lot of very expensive things! I also gave them a mattress cover to put on the mattress, and they struggled doing that. You are movers wtf?! i zipped it up about half way and moved on. Then when we got to my new place they didn't even use it and put the mattress on the pavement to get a better angle or something. like what was the point in bringing it?! They also dropped a bunch of precious memories i had in a bin in a bin, they said they took them out because the outer bin couldn't close (bs). They were holding it open wrapped around their arm and i asked them to close it as it doesn't look secure and he said it would be fine, then immediately drops it with pictures and papers dropping on the ground and getting dirty. Anyway this all just happened. and there's no way I can live in my new place due to the lack of time they afforded to me to actually place things in the right spot. At least my bed is in the right spot. luckily for now i am in a short term rental because my last place had mold and why I am moving. i am highly allergic and being there as long as i did, both to wait for them to show up and how slowly they worked on loading the truck, I am feeling sick again because of it. The estimate was low balled to say the least because these guys move at a snails pace because this company overworks them and treats likely their staff like crap. these are probably more desperate people looking for an easy pay day. one guy was like 'i worked 4 days this month' and the other one worked 6 days in a row. a 12 hr day without a break outside of driving (which isn't a break) isn't really fair or legal? I paid nearly 1k for this move, and you can't afford to give these people a proper break between moves? I'm sure they weren't making nearly enough either. Lastly they pressured me to sign a thing at the end of the receipt that says everything was delivered intact, which i didn't sign. Anyway go with another company, not worth the risk. I didn't have another weekend to do this move as i need to have a livable space and that takes time as well. Anyway the movers were careless, slow, expensive, and ignored instructions.

Move Makers (Heidi as "Move master," ably assisted by Christina and Zack) were exceptional with the logistics of planning, packing, directing the movers, and then unpacking. But beyond that, they addressed the emotional content of the process with grace, humor and dedication. We can't imagine a better experience than what we had. Not only did everything happen on schedule, but the key comment from our 97-year-old at the end was, "It looks like someone lives here, and that someone is me." While there were many anecdotes we could share, here are just two: 1. With downsizign a challenge, Heidi and team were adept at suggesting not only what should go - to Goodwill, Community Warehouse, or Consignment, etc., but "why." That helped overcome the natural trendency to try to hold onto too much. But they also were flexible in saying, "If you want it in your new place, we'll do our best to find a way, even if it doesn't look good that it will fit." By not forcing the issue, they let the outcome speak for itself, as in "We got it here, but you can see there isn't anyplace we can squeeze it in. Let's put it back on the truck before they leave for Community Warehouse." 2. In putting everything away on "unpacking day" they realized our 97-year-old would struggle more than most trying to find things, especially in the kitchen. The simple solution was painter's tape on every drawer and cabinet with a brief description of what's inside. No scavenger hunt was required. As the "movee" becomes acclimated, she'll simply pull off the tape. Listing just two examples doesn't do the team justice - but rather than ramble on we'll just say this: "Don't even think about it. Hire these folks!"

She absolutely crushed it again, going above and beyond to get my stuff sorted by discard, donate or keep lists. She expertly disassembled bed frames, carefully packed up my fragile items (LOTS of them), and purchased boxes and other moving supplies before she began. Cari donated my chosen items to charity and discarded my rejects, and never appeared judgmental when I absolutely couldn't part with my mom's ancient Guardian Ware roasting pan set, despite my admission that I've never actually used it! She is experienced and understands how hard it is to part with some things, but also will respectfully help you decide if you ask her to. So my not being there wasn't a huge issue in the end, and I felt so relieved hiring Cari to take this on when I couldn't. Her prices are reasonable and she is worth every penny. She also happens to be a great human being, is super friendly, funny and smart! I'm hoping to hire her partner in Boulder to help me organize my new place after my things arrive. What a great coincidence for me that Cari expanded her business to Boulder with her business partner before I ever knew I'd be moving here! Thank you so much, Cari!

In June 2019, we moved up to a larger outdoor unit when my Mother in Law passed away and we had to store of few of her items until my husband could decide what to do with them (he's still deciding). Karen and her staff were very helpful getting us set up the first time and when we moved everything from one unit to the other, everything went quickly and smoothly. The entire facility and grounds are very clean and well-kept. We often see Karen tooling around in her little 4-wheeled buggy keeping an eye on things. She always waves and says hello. Rules are strictly enforced inside and outside the units too. Prices are fair and reasonable when compared to other storage places. And we've always felt our stuff was safe and secure. The only drawback to having an inside unit from an outside unit is that the inside units are climate controlled and I don't think we found one bug or spider (or rodents) in the four years our stuff was stored. Often times it was hard to find the complimentary flatbed cart (used for transporting things from your vehicle to your unit) because there isn't a designated spot for it to be stored. We'd sometimes have to search throughout the whole building for it. The outside units are easier to pull right up to and unload but they are more exposed to the sun, wind and rain and we've had an issue with dirt and spiders. But that's nobody's fault. None of our stuff has been damaged however and we keep a broom in the unit to clean the cement floor. Sometimes we've taken our leaf blower over to clean out the entire inside. You just adapt. I love that I can pay online and take care of business from home. Although going into the office to speak with Karen is a pleasure. She always has a big bowl of candy on the counter too. All in all, we've been very happy with our experience these past 6 years with NW Self storage.

We just moved out on Saturday, as we bought a house & were ready to get our belongings. As we were loading things into the moving truck, we found mouse droppings on many of our things. They burrowed into a sealed bag with blankets & chewed up the blankets. They left droppings all over boxes, lumber, everything. We had to throw some things away & we will probably have to throw more away as we sort through boxes. We were spending over $200/month on this space. It is unacceptable to spend that kind of money & have your belongings invaded by mice!! I have had storage units before & never experienced this. I am attaching photos to warn other potential renters! The owners of this property need to fill in any open space where mice can get in. I do not recommend this storage facility based on our experience.
