This is a great company and a great team, with a really professional but comfortable service culture. Karri and Seth were excellent with communication, sales information and always available for calls and responsive with questions and follow up. Pricing quote was clear and fair. The overall price was in line with other company quotes and because of their service levels and professionalism made the overall proposition a real value. The packing team was actually incredible, Desmond the team leader was professional and easy to work with. He really knew what he was doing and you could tell by the way his team worked with him that they all were well trained and they focused on doing things "right" the "right way." There was no idle conversation, looking at cell phones, excessive breaks etc. The only time we heard anyone speaking was actually when one team member was training or teaching another team member how to do something better, or using a proper / safe technique etc. The packing and load team was comprised of Travis, Nic, Cirilo, Isai, and Cory, I cannot say enough positive things about them. Andrei the driver and supervisor on the delivery end was just as professional and service focused. There were some minor/major problems during packing and unloading but they were handled by the team extremely well, (In a large cross state move you have to expect some issues to arise) The PDX Movers team was proactive and engaged in solving any problems in a quick efficient manner. It was evident they have a really strong people oriented service culture. Mike Devenport, owner was very active and involved in working with his team to solve any issue and make things the best possible for the client. A big shout out to our Load Crew: Ethan, Joey, Justin, Payton and our Drivers/Unload Crew: Thunder and Payton. (Double thanks to Payton who was at both ends!). An interstate move is hard enough and the details matter - they really matter a lot! Seth - thank you! Always ready on the phone and reassuring that all was okay. (Grady was great too!). I interviewed three companies. Aside from internet reviews and speaking with them on the phone, PDX movers was the only one that mentioned an onsite visit before giving a quote. I had to ask the other two companies to come give me an onsite look before quoting. I am soooo glad I did. One quote which was 1 page was about 2/3 the cost of PDX mowers - the quote was one page with no specific items mentioned and ONE truck (the same size as PDX movers) and two men. The second company was for 1 truck and two men and had enough errors in the bidding for the quote that I gave up getting a final figure. The quote I received from PDX movers was so detailed; right down to very specific items (6 pages) very clear, very detailed which is why it went so smoothly. The quote was for two trucks and 4 loaders/unloaded. We needed two trucks - not only for the care of our things so they didn't have to be super crammed in, but I don't think all of them would have fit in one truck and what would we have done? We were coming back from out of state to make this happen and only had 1 day. I am so grateful to all the crew and Seth for such careful planning. Our new lives started out on the right track because of PDX movers. This rating is based mostly on their customer service and a little on the movers themselves. I was contacted by David by email, after I made my appointment for a Friday morning 8am slot. He asked if I would be willing to move to the afternoon slot because they had a client who had to have the morning. I agreed because I like to help out others. He told me I would receive a call between 11/12 and let me know an ETA for my job. I took half a day off work to be there for the move. At 1:35 I had heard nothing. I emailed their scheduler Audrii and asked what was up. She emailed me back saying she had no clue what was going on and would check with the movers. An hour later I emailed her again asking what was up. She responded that their morning job was more that they expected and still did not have an ETA. 2 hours and several emails later she finally called me to say they would be there at 5!!! David never called me, the owner never called me, nothing. No apologies, no communication, no customer service, absolute disregard for how I was inconvenienced or the money I lost waiting around with them when I could have been working. The movers did pretty good. They were exhausted and stood around a bit. Also they scuffed and dented many walls in our brand new house. I work in the mortgage business and my family is in the real estate industry...neither of us will ever recommend PDX Movers and will continue to tell people not to use them. They have no clue what communication or customer service is. Nor do they know how to apologize or make things right with customers. I knew I should have gone with All My Sons!! read more

We recently used PDX Movers to move from a 3rd story apartment into our first home. From our estimate (Thank you, Grady!) to our communications with our Move Coordinator (Huge thank you, Caitlyn!) to the crew on the day of the move, I do not have enough good things to say. I have moved independently a few times over the past few years and will never do it again after my experience with PDX Movers. The lead, Landon, made me feel comfortable and was incredibly professional. The other two movers, Yaire and Nemesio, were incredible as well. They kept a positive attitude during the move, and the crew was pleasant to spend my day with. They also had a Quality Control Rep stop by mid-move to check in and ensure I was happy with the process. That added an additional level of comfort, knowing things were taken care of AND THEM SOME! Shoutout, Quality Control Billy! Not only did they move my items from point A to point B, but I had a lot of antique furniture left to me by my grandmother, who had recently passed, and none of the items were damaged and were so well cared for. Clearly, the team understood that these were sentimental to me and never made me feel silly for being so concerned about them. They also sorted all my items into the rooms they belonged in, so we were able to unpack our whole house within a week! If you are moving, I would suggest PDX Movers!! I went online to find a mover from PDX to Kingston, WA. I chose PDX Movers on the basis of reviews I found at Yelp and elsewhere. 1. The estimate I received for my move was way higher than I thought it would be - competitive with national movers like United and significantly more than a couple local movers (who did not leave me feeling confident that the lower price meant anything other than lower quality). When I called SETH, he carefully explained how the pricing works, what the extra quality is that they offer - including but not limited to a truck that takes ONLY my stuff - and he also re-reviewed my estimate carefully. So, I felt assured after that call that my money would be well-spent. 2. Communications all the way around were professional and friendly, including - most importantly - with the persons who picked up and delivered my stuff. 3. The 5 men who loaded the truck were fabulous in every way. I wish I could list them each by name but in any case, they were great. 4. Of those 5, 2 then delivered to me in Kingston. Amazing!! Thank you to Nick, Landon, Gabriel, and Dylan. Extremely professional, kind, and quick. Hustled it through the heat, over a bridge and through the woods! I originally got 3 quotes from various moving companies our real estate agent recommended. PDX movers was the highest quote, but I called to ask why the other companies were lower, and they said that all moving companies charge hourly and within a certain range, since it is a regulated industry. If a moving company seems super low, they may be just trying to snag you, but in the end it may end up being more, since it is an hourly charge. That was not the case with PDX movers. We were quoted around $1800 and it ended up being around $1300, since it took less time than expected (we moved a few things ourselves after Kaari came out to do an inventory check). Also, they supplied us with 2 big trucks, but we only used 1, so Nick was kind enough to call in and check to see that we would only be charged for one truck. Extremely responsive team over email and phone. And honest, too. This is why I went with them. Other moving companies were very slow to call back, taking a day or two to return calls. I saw their truck on one of our drives back and forth to Bend, so I thought I would reach out and get a quote. PDX movers were very responsive, organized, and user friendly. The sales process was easy and that was exactly what I needed as we were selling and buying a house at the same time. On the day of the move, they call ahead of time to let you know they were on the way. I am grateful to Ian (lead), Abraham, George, Brayden and Brayden. They all took great care of my things as they secured, packed and loaded. They came prepared with moving blankets and tape. Even when there was more stuff than what was anticipated, they figured everything out quickly to get another truck from the warehouse and not losing much time. Ian communicated with me all throughout the process. When they arrived the next day, they moved everything to where it was marked at very efficiently. They even put back together the beds and other items that were disassembled. When the 2nd load was unloaded later that week, I worked with Isai and Abraham. PDX Movers may be more expensive than the average moving company but they are worth it as they exceptional at what they do. Ryan, Abraham, and Joey did an awesome job! They were on time and very thorough and careful with everything. Not only did they completely wrap each piece of furniture with blankets and plastic wrap, but they covered floors and padded doorway entrances to protect the house as well as the furniture at both the old home as well as the new one. They also helped take apart heavy furniture and put it back together again at the new home. It took a little time but everything was moved easily to the new home and no damage to furniture or either home. In addition, the move location had a very difficult driveway - long, narrow, and a steep uphill climb with a curve at the top to 2 separate garages on 2 levels. It required them to back the truck up to the house as there was not enough room at the top to turn around. But it was absolutely no trouble for this team. They navigated it easily and quickly! I work for LinenTablecloth.com, an online retailer, and we recently hired PDX Movers to relocate our main offices across town. When I called for a quote, they got a hold of me ASAP and set up a convenient time for a free, on location quote. When Mike came down, he didn't waste our time and gave us a very fair estimate, even though he said they try to be conservative when giving out quotes. The day of the move they show up 15 minutes early, and we actually had more equipment that needed to be moved than expected, but it was absolutely no problem for David and his crew. They got everything taken care of in a quick and orderly fashion, and let me work closely with them to ensure that everything turned out perfect. And it did. They finished up earlier than expected, and we ended up saving a lot of money going through them. It is great to be able to work with a small business that has the maturity of more established companies and a work ethic that beats their price. They were happy, friendly, and courteous; they even worked through lunch so we could get done ASAP. I would highly recommend PDX Movers again. read more

Chris and Gilberto delivered a heavy box (175#) the other day, the hot day. PDX movers kept me informed of the progress of the shipping from the beginning. When I noticed that the package had been delivered to their Portland location, I called to see when it would get to my house. I told them I would be out of town toward the end of the delivery window and requested that they try to get it to me before then. They were able to do that. I was given a time window on the selected day and was called a couple times that day to inform me of readjustments in the window. When the item was delivered (Threshold delivery) the men so very kindly actually brought it into the room I needed it in. This was above and beyond and so helpful since I live along and it would be hard for me to manuever from the doorway to the room. I have a ranch story home and the room was only a few feet beyond the door and around a corner so it wasn't too hard on them but they could have stuck to company "rules". Thanks, guys!! Over the past forty years we have moved, on average, once every 3.5 years, from spots ranging from Seattle to Reykjavik to Tokyo to Bamako, Mali to Washington, DC, to Eugene, OR and Beijing, China. Most were moves contracted for and supervised by State Department general services officers. None surpassed and, few matched, the service received from PDX Movers from first contact to final delivery and the arrangement of our HHE in the storage facility. We had some requirements for placement of the items in storage to facilitate piecemeal removal at a later date, and all were respected and accomplished with professional attentiveness. The movers Joshua, Justice, and Avi were personable, professional, and patient. They listened and responded to our questions and concerns as the packing and moving proceeded and gave clear and complete answers to our questions. They clearly took pride in their work, and the respect they showed us and one another gave us confidence in them. PDX Movers assisted me with moving into Portland from out of State. I wasn't sure I was going to hire movers and looked to yelp after loading our stuff in a trailer and found PDX Movers. We had used Estes Sure Move for the transportation of our stuff from Southern California, which was a big 28 foot trailer. All I needed was help to unload it. Mike contacted me very quickly the same night I requested a quote for a moving date less than a week away. Chris and Aaron were the movers who came out to help us move. Due to an issues with Estes, who was delivering our moving trailer, our stuff came in an hour later than expected since they dropped off the wrong trailer. Chris and Aaron never complained once and were very quick to get our belongings up to our new second floor apartment. I was concerned about being able to navigate the stairs and carry all my stuff big and small into our unit and was very glad that they took care of everything for me. If and when I move out of this apartment I will definitely be giving PDX movers a call. read more

Long distance move from Portland,OR to Rancho Mirage,CA. Packing crew was at our condo on Sunday, July 18, and were able to complete the tasks with the ability to pack fragile and collectible items for a long distance move. The crew leader, Billy, had the crew well organized in their respective duties, and we felt comfortable with the courtesies extended to all of our furnishings. The moving crew arrived on July 19, and they were able to meet the challenge of negotiating the driveway, then wrapping the furniture in a manner which would protect these items for the trip to Rancho Mirage, CA.This was a major move, and the PDX crew was able to handle the job with perfection. The crew directed by Kevin, arrived in Rancho Mirage, on July 22, and completed the task of unloading, placing, and reassembled the respective pieces such as the large dining room table, and mirrored chest, and granite desk top. From start to finish, they were professional, careful, and incredibly efficient. They initially quoted how many hours they expected the move to take--and they finished an hour ahead of schedule, which meant the final price was lower than expected. They laid down floor protection throughout the house, covered the front door with thick moving blankets, and made sure nothing was scratched or damaged. We just used Aaron and Austin for our move. We had already moved a lot of our items ourself the previous weekend and the rest we packed ahead of time, so I didn't use their packing services. We mainly needed someone to do the heavy lifting for heavy boxes/bins, large items and furniture. These two were very attentive to not nicking the walls or damaging the floors and handled all of our belongings with the care that we would when moving. They were very good at packing the truck so that nothing got damaged during transit. They were also very courteous and professional in their responses to my concerns and making sure that I was happy with the job they were doing; very personable two men. We must say this part of the move was much more enjoyable having someone else do all the heavy lifting and having these two be in such a good mood even while doing all the hard work.
