What an amazing crew RMP Moving sent us! Alan, Aibar and Zorig did not stop moving! They were punctual, personable and professional. They moved our 2 bed/2 bath apartment from the 3rd floor to another apartment on the 2nd floor. It was a local move. They disassembled movable parts carefully and wrapped our furniture meticulously. They reassembled at the new apartment with all parts intact and accounted for. They came prepared with tools, shrink wrap, blankets, tapes, boxes and a positive CAN-DO attitude as well! For a 3-person crew and a large truck, it was under $700 including a flat $30 fuel charge. It was an affordable and smooth move. The crew took a 25-minute lunch break. Alan, the crew leader, communicated the time that was stopped for lunch and it was deducted from the total cost. We were very happy with the move overall. Russ with RMP called us first of the 5 moving companies I had sent in requests for quotes and had a very competitive and fair price. They didn't have extra costs beyond a $30 fuel fee (which most had) and their minimum and hourly rates were exactly what we were hoping for. Communications were very good and the two guys, Dmitry and Tsiren, called in advance with their ETA and showed up in the window of time expected. They were very nice and hard-working and did a great job wrapping up all of our furniture. That process takes a while to do it correctly so make sure you account for that. Quite disappointing all around: -Efficiency: The two movers who were sent seemed young and inexperienced. They did not have appropriate time management skills. We only had our apartment elevator reserved for 2 hours and the movers had not started moving any of the heavy furniture 1.5h in. There were times when we did not see them for 15-20 minutes and had no idea what they were doing. My partner and I ended up moving heavy furniture down the stairs on our own to facilitate a faster process. They did not move with a sense of urgency. I was quoted that the job would take about 3h, but ended up taking 4.5h. Of course, it's understandable that the 3h estimation is not exact. I felt frustrated seeing the 2 movers moving slowly and that my partner & I ended up hauling many heavy things because of their inefficiency. -Carefulness: Perhaps attributed to inexperience, these movers often put boxes wrong side up (even when clearly labeled) and ripped a gash in our couch (see photo). They did not alert me to this damage, I only noticed later after they had left. -Customer service: When I spoke to their manager, Josh, about these concerns, he gave me a $40 discount for the extended time taken with the move. He did not apologize for the damage or offer any compensation. The movers were respectful and generally easy to communicate with. I think this company has potential to be a high quality moving company, but there are issues to address. read more

What went well? Literally everything! Russ was very fast at getting back to me, and very detail oriented. His crew were extremely careful. I let them know that I have very expensive furniture as well as other things like expensive audio/video equipment, not one thing got scratched, marked or broken, they wrapped everything precisely as to protect every item from every angle. I used them twice, once to move my storage out into my new house, and another time to move from a house to the new one. Not one wall was scratched, not one thing in my homes were damaged. They even wrapped my stairwell banisters to protect everything on the way down. I've moved around a lot in the last decade and I've never seen a team work so hard for so long, they asked for a couple of breaks and that was it. WORST EVER! Paid deposit by card for a FLAT-RATE-FEE, gave me a senior citizen discount. I thought we were supporting a veterans' group. RMP subcontracted with LLOADRANS in Portland. Two young guys, early 20s, scheduled for 9am, were 20 minutes late, one spent 10 minutes in the bathroom. I had to tell them 3 times that yes, all the drawers were empty. They started "working" at 10:22, after pressing me to change my payment method to cash, which I refused to do. They over-wrapped our furniture as though it was going overseas. I asked to forego the excessive wrapping for a 12-mile trip. They did it anyway, said because it might rain. Very LOW chance of rain in the forecast, a few white fluffy clouds. They didn't move any of the heavy bins or boxes, did not have wardrobe boxes as requested. When the truck was finally loaded, I was pressed for an up-front cash payment before leaving! I told him (Kenneth) NO, card only, when the job is completed. Upon arrival at new place, they didn't want to unload until I paid cash. After a lot of talking to supervisors it was agreed to use a card as initially arranged. I gave Kenneth the card info, but he wanted me to leave the amount blank. No way! Our furniture was held hostage until I finally called the police. Furniture unloaded, he kept pressing me for cash. He made aggressive, bullying movements toward my son, insulted us more than once. Two days later, he called and said my card didn't go through even though they had all of the information. I then put a temporary hold on my card because I didn't trust what they were up to. Kenneth harassed me several times since, claiming to be from the "billing department." Contract says I have 30 days to pay. * Very low communication skills * Zero customer service consideration * No time-management, very inefficient * Rude, bullying, offensive behavior * Definitely not worth the price, especially with the harassment, and unnecessary conflicts. We had to finish the job ourselves. read more
