After recklessly spilling a full 8 oz. glass of water onto my laptop keyboard, I had a slight aneurysm as it occured to me that I might actually have to handwrite my bar exam, which was only two weeks away. HP Tech Support promised me they probably could repair my computer but that any information on my hard drive would be wiped out. It was suggested I back up my hard drive. Backing up a hard drive is difficult for a layman like me, particularly when the computer, upon startup, does not in fact boot up at all but instead makes a shrill beeping noise until you force shut down. Not at all eager to deal with those jerks at Best Buy, I stopped at a serendipitous little computer repair shop on the way home. The staff quoted a very reasonable price for backing up the hard drive and were very easy to work with. When it was discovered that my computer could boot up with a little tweaking, they explained the problem to me and returned the computer without charging me a dime. This is a very small operation with an attentive, honest staff. If you are having computer troubles, consider giving them a call rather than wasting your money at big box money pits like Best Buy. read more

I feel bad for not providing a review earlier, but I forgot. I've used their service twice with excellent results. First problem I had was a snapped USB drive stem. Knowing that the hardware problem would be difficult to fix and extract data, I called several local stores. I was quoted between $200-$800 for the data recovery with no guarantee my data could be recovered. I found another shop that said they tried soldering the parts and nothing could be done to recover my data... Went to PCmatix and not only did they say no effort in soldering was done by the previous shop, but they were able to recover my data, repair the old USB drive, and outfitted me with a new USB for a lot less than the other stores (I don't remember the price but it was well within my student budget). All within a week! Second problem I had... I dropped, well... I threw fiance's laptop to the ground (he showed me a spider video on Youtube and I got scared) and broke the screen. David quoted the repair/labor costs, which again was a lot lower than other local stores. Plus he provided a laptop for my fiance to use while his was being repaired. In addition, David's been friendly and readily explains the details of the repair/labor that will occur. Definitely will go here again for any future problems (knock on wood). read more

Very impressed with PcMatix...they just recently helped me out of a fairly major bind. My laptop lost its internet connectivity, and I needed it back up and running as soon as possible so I could submit some assignments for a couple of online classes I'm taking. I didn't get the gentleman's name who helped me, but he quickly diagnosed the problem, recommended a fix (one that never would have occurred to me), and helped me install it -- all on a day when they were not even officially open! I appreciate not only his expertise but his friendliness -- no condescending "geekier-than-thou" attitude here, which goes a long way with me. I was not looking forward to lugging my large printer/copier to his office and was delighted when he offered to come to my home. WOW! what a great customer service. These guys are so busy with the amount of work they do becuase they are extremly knowledgeable about what they are doing. I not only got my computer repaired, but I also got a great advice from David and Rafal on what virus protection to use( AVG and its free-saved me $60 right there) and since my repair of last fall I had no problems with my computer. I just recently submitted my sons desktop and it was fixed the next morning. I would highly recommand these two brothers for any software or hardware repairs. I actually initially contacted CSP Computers and John answered the phone. I explained that my 8 yr old HP all in one printer was making a terrible noise and he patiently explained exactly what I needed to do to make it functional again, get this, WITHOUT bringing it in. Of course he was clear that if his instructions didn't work or I wanted to bring it in I was welcome to do so. He then let me know that PCMatix is now covering CSP Computers service calls. After purchasing a new computer w/Windows 7 to replace my dead Dell, Anna was able to create a "virtual box" w/in my new computer for me to continue working in the last century--my choice. The application is tricky but she stuck w/it and continued to tweet it remotely until it is 100%. She also fixed my dead Dell, so I now have 2 working computers. Their prices seem reasonable and they got the job done in 2 days--something the big boxes can't/won't do. Definitely recommend, except I don't want them to get too busy so they're not available for me the next time. read more

This is our second repair with PCMatic and both times we have been very happy with the quality of the work, the price, and how quickly they fixed the problem. For the most recent repair, they changed the screen, fixed the track pad, and repaired the disc drive on our sons MacBook Pro. They even offered to do the work while we wait but we had some errands to run so we came back the same day to pickup MacBook. As a bonus they repaired a broken key for free. These guys work quickly, were professional, and they offered the lowest price as we called around to see what others were charging. While I hope my son takes better care of his computer and we don't have to go back, if he breaks something I will definitely go back there. read more

I used them for a partial hard drive crash. Although they seem to work late hours and weekends, I had a difficult time scheduling. They replaced my hard drive, but then I continued to have problems with functions not working properly, missing software and all of my iTunes songs gone. It took weeks of e-mailing and calling to try and schedule appointments for the software and functions. But it has been several months, and I still do not have the iTunes songs. I was told to bring my old hard drive to them for this, but they actually had the hard drive, which again took weeks for them to find. We then set a time for me to come to the office to replace the songs, a Monday morning, and when I arrived--the office was locked. I checked my v- and e-mail, but no messages. I called them, it now was 25 minutes after our scheduled time, and was told that they were "on the way"apparently to arrive at some unknown time as I waited in my car. But even if I wanted to wait, I had another appointment. I then had to contact them to ask for my old hard drive, and was told it would be mailed. It has been 3 weeks, I have not received it. I e-mailed which was ignored, and I called and was told that the hard drive was mailed, and they would call the post office. I heard nothing from them after that and still do not have the hard drive. I doubt that I am ever going to receive it, and only hope that the iTunes songs are the only things that I have lost on it. read more

Fantastic service. I recently moved and when I tried to set up my older desktop computer at my new place, it wouldn't boot up. I checked Yelp and found PCMatix with high reviews and only a short drive away from my new place. Called and explained my issue, brought my computer in on a Friday morning, and David was wonderful in getting the details of the situation and letting me know next steps. There was great communication a few days later with what was wrong and the solution and cost. I agreed to the very reasonable price ($100 for parts, $100 for labor) and my fixed computer was literally delivered to my door on Saturday morning. Stellar. Amazing. I cannot say enough about the friendly, swift, and competent service I received. My computer issues may have been pretty minor in the whole scheme of things, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend PCMatix to anyone I know with computer issues going forward. omg! do not, i repeat do not let this guy near your computer. i called him and we arranged to meet the following morning at "his office" on western ave. first of all, he does not have an office at that location. he arrived twenty five minutes late. he said i had hard drive issues and that he could fix it by the following day. he said he would be able to begin working on it in about an hour and would call me shortly to give me an update. five hours later i called him and again he said it would be repaired by the next day. didn't happen. finally, two days later, we were to meet on wednesday at 8: 30. he showed up at 9:00. i paid him the $150.00 charge for the (supposed ed) repair in cash, brought my laptop home, attempted to print, but it wasn't working. i called him, he said he could fix it remotely. he started that process and then just stopped and would not answer my calls . so, he started the job, and then took my money for a job he did not complete. i found out later that the problem with my laptop had been a really bad virus, which was taken care of by a true professional. read more
