Handed keys to an employee at Thrifty. 3 days later (was on a cruise) I checked my credit card and had pending charges totaling $574 from Thrifty, they had never closed out the contract and were applying additional $100 charges each day. I tried calling Thrifty at every number I could find for them. Their automated phone system had no options for an issue like mine and no option would allow me to reach a person, it kept instructing me to use their website form. Tried submitting their web form several times and would receive the message that there was a problem uploading the form and instructed me to call their 800 number (one of those that I had already tried several times. Called Discount Hawaii and reached Tammy in about 2 minutes. She was super nice and very sympathetic. After I explained my issue, she told me to relax and enjoy the rest of my cruise and she would handle Thrifty. 15 minutes later I received a final invoice from Thrifty and shortly after a message from Discount Hawaii apologizing about the issue I experienced along with a copy of their communication with Thrifty. I, of course, immediately called Discount Hawaii back to tell Tammy thank you. Tammy and Discount Hawaii rock! I cannot recommend them enough, although I suggest that you do not select a vehicle from Thrifty as there is no way to reach them if you have an issue.

Last year, they did not have our class of car available (Maxima), so they bumped us up a class (BMW 3-series) for free and told us to pick which one we liked. Upon the walk-around, we found some minor body damage to the BMW; I was fine with it being documented, but they bumped us up ANOTHER class and we picked an Audi Q5 for no additional charge. Amazing service!! This month, we rented a Pacifica minivan which only had 2,800 miles on it and it worked perfectly for our bigger group with cargo. The check-in process took about 10 mins each time and the car-return took less than 2 minutes both times - so easy! We are definitely renting from them again next year.

All of their employees as super nice, helpful, and friendly! They all seem really happy working for this company and that is a joy to see. Justin was the employee I spoke with and he was super nice. 1/5 Stars - Horrible Customer Service! Stay Away!…read more I normally don't write negative reviews, but my experience with Lucky Owl Rental was so frustrating that I had to share it. I reserved a rental car and spent $20 on an Uber just to get to their location. From the moment I walked inside, the customer service was absolutely horrible. Definitely NOT the welcoming "mahalo" experience you would expect in Hawaii. When I attempted to pick up my rental, I was informed that they only accepted credit cards, not debit cards. I offered to pay using my PayPal credit card through Apple Pay, but they refused. I tried finding several reasonable solutions. I asked if they could make an exception and accept my debit card. No. I asked if I could cancel my reservation and rebook using my girlfriend's credit card. No. I even asked if I could become an authorized user on her credit card. Still no. Every question I asked was met with a rude, dismissive attitude. There was absolutely no effort to help me or find a solution. It's honestly bizarre to encounter a business so unwilling to work with a paying customer. I understand businesses have policies, but there is a difference between enforcing policies and treating customers poorly. A little professionalism, courtesy, and willingness to help would have gone a long way. Instead, I wasted my time, spent $20 on transportation, and walked away without the rental car I had reserved. DO NOT RENT FROM LUCKY OWL RENTAL! Save yourself the headache, frustration, and wasted money. There are plenty of other rental companies that actually value their customers. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience absolutely deserved one. Zero aloha, zero customer service, and zero willingness to help. Never again!

The lady said not to worry, she had other vehicles available at no additional charge. I ended up getting an upgrade- BMW X5! Not to shabby! Overall, I had a great experience! I was in and out of SIXT rental within 15 minutes from arriving! Staff were friendly, quick and efficient, not to mention accommodating! It's located upstairs in the parking garage adjacent to the airport (very convenient). The car itself was in mint condition, clean and practically smelled brand new! Plenty of legroom and luggage space. We definitely felt like we were driving in style around the island! So thankful to SIXT and their staff for kickstarting our vacation on a happy note! It's true what they say, having your own set of wheels eliminates the stress of waiting for rideshares or adhering to rigid public transit schedules- Mahalo SIXT!

The "manager" Andrew, accused me of aggressing an employee by saying the word "crap". I did not say…read morethat, I was not even angry or frustrated. He came out of nowhere to tell me, aggressively, why they need to check an id that had been scanned multiple times previously. I don't understand what even happened! Because I was confused and upset about being wrongfully attacked, I asked him to clarify his accusation. He escalated by repeatedly telling me, "you can't even admit that you said it" and I said, yes, because I don't ! He would not engage with me or my husband in coming to a meaningful understanding. My husband and two teenage children both said they did not hear me say this and came to my defense. He would not admit he could have misheard. He shut me down and repeated that I was denying it and that I couldn't admit that I "cursed" at his employee. He ended with sarcastically saying, "why don't you leave and enjoy your vacation." I don't say the word crap, because it's a crap curse word. I use better, more adult curse words. If I was frustrated, the room would know. What manager is trained to escalate? This person should not be in a front facing position. I'm kinda floored that he chooses to be in customer service, because if he is starting g a fight with a not that annoyed middle aged lady, how does he handle an enraged man? I doubt he would have had this interaction with a man. I wasn't even mad, it came out of nowhere I think he must have heard my kids or another customer say something 'cause it's not what happened and my whole family was witness. I'm sure everything is recorded - check the footage. You're an angry man, Andrew, shame on you. Sixt has been made aware of the situation and I do really hope they watch the security footage. Also, Andrew, crap isn't considered a curse word by any means (even though I didn't even say that!) Get your crap together - I can say that even on yelp and it's not considered offensive. I drove 3 miles and it was suddenly below full but they expect you to return it full to the top. -I have had good service from both a larger and older gentleman there. However, there is one young black NIkki Minaj wanna be girl who works there who has the biggest attitude problem that you've ever seen. She is hostile, rude and unfriendly. She walks around chomping on her gum while yelling at everyone. She checked me out one night and it was the most hostile experience ever. She wasn't paying attention but then would snap at us. She needs to be let go immediately because she is costing you customers. However, it's not our fault that she wasn't attractive enough to be a stripper and had to work there instead.

Alamo did not have a line when I got there and I had a very pleasant time with Lexi. She and the other staff were friendly, bright, and all around a hoot to talk to and check-in with, they made the experience great. Checking-in was easy! Their screen is touchscreen so you can sign with your finger. The car: we went up the escalators and we were able to choose between a 4Runner and a Volkswagen. We chose the 4Runner for more trunk space. Car was spacious and we got out of the garage easily. The car came with a full tank of gas. I did not pump gas prior to returning the car due to lack of time and poor planning on my part. We were close to almost a half tank when I returned it. Alamo charged me $44 for the gas which I found fair. I would definitely book with Alamo again the next time I want to get a car rental in Oahu!
