As a President's Circle member, I have rented 3 times in the past month here and each time was worse than the other. -On 2 of the 3 pickups, they only had 2 cars available in the Presidents circle section and one of them one night was broken. -The cars are overall very dirty. I had to go to a gas station andclean all the windows right after I picked it up. -One car was missing side paneling. -One car showed Full when rented. I drove 3 miles and it was suddenly below full but they expect you to return it full to the top. -I have had good service from both a larger and older gentleman there. On the third day I was drinking an ice coffee and put it down in the cup holder and 3 cockroaches came out and went in my cup. Shoutout to Jojo who helped us get our Jeep exchanged within minutes - she was super nice, patient, efficient, and thorough! We found a tiny crack in the windshield when we picked up the car and didn't think anything of it - took pictures of it anyways. Thank goodness we did because the next morning, the tiny crack turned into a huge crack down the front windshield. We got worried, especially with the kids and all the construction happening on the roads, so we took the car back to Hertz and Jojo helped us get the exchange process going quickly. Thank you for the efficient process, Jojo - within 15 minutes, we had a brand new jeep and the kids got to finish up their naps while waiting. Perfect! Even when we went to pick up our Hertz rental car after landing, the process was fast - wait in line, give driver license, look up reservation, make any upgrades, and head over to the exact car stall number to pick up the car (keys inside car) without having to wait for any agent to hand us the keys. It's also on the same level as the front desk when checking in to pick up, so that was convenient instead of taking the elevator and waiting in another line to get assigned a car. TL;DR - Our experience sucked. We had reserved a vehicle for a trip to Hawaii and went to the rental pickup upon arrival. We spoke with an agent (who was rather unfriendly, but that is beside the point). She gave us a Chevy Traverse which seemed suitable for our needs. We loaded up all of our luggage and started up the vehicle to depart. We then realized that it may be a good idea to document the condition of the car prior to departing. Upon inspection, we found that the front right tire had a rather large slit which exposed the interior cords. This is incredibly dangerous and I am concerned that this vehicle was offered to us in the first place in this condition. Compromised tire cords are highly susceptible to blowouts and endangers every passenger. As an established car rental company that has such high-tech cameras that keep track of damage, I am baffled that this was missed. And if not, even more concerned that it was overlooked. We went to the Gold service center inside of the garage to speak with a different agent about this issue. She confirmed she could exchange the car for us but did not share any concern or remorse about the issue we had discovered. She gave us a Ford Explorer and assured us that this vehicle was larger than our original. We walked out to the car and realized it was actually much smaller and our luggage would not fit. We went back to the Gold center and spoke with another agent (who again was quite rude) and she told us there is nothing that can be done, and if we are still concerned we need to go back inside and speak with our original agent. At this point we had become frustrated with the entire situation and exhausted by the poor customer service and lack of concern for safety. I arrived a bit earlier than my reservation said because AA changed my flight times and I forgot to update to my reservation, but it was handled without a problem. I was a little nervous about getting to Honolulu and not having a car after reading about numerous rental companies and the waits. I arrived at 9 pm, and not sure if this is what made the difference or not. I also set up my Hertz account so once I arrived, I could pick my car on the app and just go to the parking spot number to pick up the rental. For me, using Hertz at the airport was a success. Once I touched down, I was able to get on the app select my car and walk out to it, drive to the booth and out I went. It was the easiest and quickest experience I have ever had for a car rental. We rented a compact car from Hertz in Oahu from 02/18/2024-02/25/2024. We were unexpectedly given an XL SUV after my wife gave her Chase card during checkin. During our stay, the car sustained minor scratches while parked in the hotel lot, we reported the scratches to Hertz upon return. Hertz sent us a overly inflated bill for 3 1inch scratches two months later. We initially submitted a claim to Chase Sapphire insurance, assuming that the rental agreement would be covered . After some time and several document requests from Chase to Hertz, we realized that the original reservation was from a Expedia package using our AMEX, despite the online reservation showing the last 4 digits of her chase card. Once we realized this, we filed the claim with American Express. Unfortunately, since we do not own a car and do not have primary auto insurance, American Express only provided secondary coverage. We communicated this to Hertz multiple times and requested a reduction in the bill, which we believed was inflated for the minor damage. Despite informing Hertz multiple times that we do not have primary insurance, they continued to request information on it. On August 12, 2024, Hertz offered to reduce the bill. We responded on August 15, we were ready to pay and how to do it. No response. On August 19, Hertz followed up asking if we intended to pay. We said we would pay the lowered amount. We sent additional follow-up emails on August 23 and September 5, asking how we could complete the payment, but received no reply. On September 16, 2024, we were contacted by a collections agency, demanding payment. To avoid any impact on our credit, we paid the full balance, even though we had previously agreed to the reduced amount of with Hertz. Do not do business with Hertz. read more
