Once we got to the garage, they had all the cars lined up and we just got to walk over to the car we wanted and drive out. It was great! They are across the street from HNL airport. I've been renting cars from this Alamo location every time I've visited Hawaii. They are friendly, accommodating, and no hidden fees. I also like that I can select the car I want from their parking lot. I always try to pick one closest to the one I own at home. Would recommend this location. read more

I rented a car from Alamo on Dec 26 . I picked the car up at the airport. I was only 5 minutes from the airport on the freeway, headed to our resort in Kapolei. One of the hubcaps off the rear wheel came off and ended up in the Medium of the freeway. It was too dangerous to try to retrieve it so we went on to our resort and immediately went to find an Alamo agency nearby to report the incident. They told me at the agency not to worry everything would be taken care of since I reported however when I turned the car in they charged me $173.for lost hubcap. read more

I rented an SUV (Chevy Tahoe, 44k miles) from Alamo and was handed keys to a vehicle that should never have been on their lot. The tires are bald -- not worn, bald -- which is a legitimate safety hazard. The interior was beyond filthy. And there's a constant rattling noise coming from the rear of the vehicle that I can only assume is a mechanical issue they chose to ignore. I've driven it less than 10 miles in 36 hours because I don't feel safe operating it. I'm essentially paying daily for a car I can't use. Even the hotel valet agreed that the car is in ridiculous condition. Alamo's fleet maintenance standards are clearly nonexistent. Putting customers in an unsafe vehicle isn't just bad service -- it's negligent. Would not recommend and will not be returning. Icing on the cake is that they don't even answer the phone so I cant even remedy this. read more

Very satisfied. The employee directed us to the appropriate aisle where we could choose any vehicle. We picked a 2024 Ford Expedition Max. Great vehicle that fit all our luggage and passengers for 5 days. Drop off was a breeze as well. They did a quick walk around and we were on our way. Would definitely rent from here again. read more

Needed a rental car for our trip and went looking for one through Costco Travel. Alamo had the best rates so we booked a full size for all our luggage. The process was simple and smooth. Lines weren't too bad when we came in (afternoon) and the person checking me and my wife in worked quickly and got us out and to our car in less than 5 minutes. Easy car rental in Tucson. I was greeted with a text a day into our rental, and since I had a billing discrepancy, I thought I take a chance at responding to the text that asked if everything was ok. I certainly did not expect a resolution through texting, nor did I expect it to get resolved in 5 minutes, but that's exactly what happened. Then when I returned the car a few days later in Tucson, the young lady named Briza was so friendly and helpful. I had a great experience renting an SUV here after arriving from CA. I was completely prepared with copies of my current car insurance card & a copy of my insurance policy should there be any questions. There was a bit of a line but it moved fairly quickly. The agent was very friendly & didn't try & coax me into buying their insurance which happens sometimes. From the time I got to the counter to walking out the door it was probably 8 minutes. I had requested a mid-size SUV & he directed us to the garage where a nice woman met us, we showed her our paperwork & she pointed us in the direction to at least 10 different SUVs, pick any one of them she said, NICE! We took pics of the car inside & out for any nicks, etc & we were on our way. Checking in the vehicle before our departing flight was equally if not easier than when we arrived. It was clear that Alamo was the rental car choice of most people as their line was a bit longer than the others & I would have no problem using them again, it's not my first with them & it won't be my last. read more

We had such a great experience renting from Alamo Car Rental. Service was quick and lines were short. You also had an option to do self check-in with a QR code if you wanted to skip waiting in line. The best part about our experience was when we first picked up our car. Sam V (I think that's his last initial), at the check-in counter, was SO HOSPITABLE and so so so sweet, funny, humble, and genuine. He didn't make it feel like a transactional process at all. He really took the time to ask us about our time on the island, offered some local suggestions, and didn't rush us through the check-in process. Sam is the reason why our trip started off in the best way possible. He was great!! Also, the car was great too. Nice condition. We had our pick from different cars. Rates were good. Christmas Day....came to surprise my parents...and my flight was delayed. When I finally got here, everyone was in a really good mood since it was Christmas. New car rental building was great! I was sent up to the 3rd floor and when I got there I didn't see any of the workers, but then, the three that were standing there said hello and Merry Christmas...they were all festively dressed. The young man walked me over to the cars, and pretty much everything was gone so he said I could take one of the sport cars if I wanted... Me: You're joking right? He: No. Maybe a convertible? Why not! So for my trip I cruised around in a Mustang 5.0. My favorite times were going over the hill on the Like Like. If there was no one in front of me, I punched it and hit about 80, screaming, and the music blasting! The rush was great!!! Sometimes, we just want to do that! When I returned the car... Warning: Do NOT rent from this company. I would give them zero stars if I could. I rented a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon from Alamo at Honolulu Airport for its cargo space and ability to seat five people comfortably with five large suitcases. Instead, I was given a Wrangler 4xe hybrid -- a completely different vehicle with much less usable trunk space due to its hybrid battery. Only four suitcases fit in the back. The fifth had to go inside the cabin, where my children were forced to sit on top of the luggage. My 6'2" son had to ride in the front seat with his legs cramped and the seat pushed dangerously close to the windshield. We spent over 3 hours at the rental location trying to resolve the issue. Staff on-site told us to "deal with it" and refused to help. When I followed up with customer service, they were rude and falsely claimed we fit everything fine -- which is completely untrue. This was one of the worst rental experiences I've ever had. Avoid this company at all costs. They are dishonest, dismissive, and do not care about customer safety or satisfaction. Update: they never fixed the problem or took care of it even after I communicated with them. read more

We rented a small sedan which we were given our pick of the car. There was unfortunately only two cars to pick from and one of them was already spoken for. No big deal here. My hubby and I booked their car rental service for our Honeymoon from Expedia since they always have the best deals around! We upgraded since it was our honeymoon and drove out in style in one of their luxurious Convertible Mustangs and added the Collision Damage Plan they suggested! Just trust me when I say it's worth the add on, they'll replace your car if it gets damaged and their staff are really sweet and helpful with everything! We had fun with the top down, our hair blowing in the wind, cruising around Oahu! I would highly recommend this location and we'll definitely be booking with them in the near future! Had an excellent rental car experience with Alamo! When it comes to renting cars, your girl doesn't play around. I usually stick to renting with Enterprise or an Enterprise subsidiary because the service and vehicle quality tends to be better than the cheaper car rental companies. This experience with Alamo was no different. I received exceptional service from both Michelle and Ashley. Usually the rates tends to be higher when I rent with Alamo (and renting a car in Hawaii in general), but I was surprised to find a very reasonable rate even during the car shortage time period. Checking in was fast and easy. They had actually ran out of compact cars when I arrived and gave me a complimentary upgrade to a compact SUV. I chose the Ford Ecosport which was clean, roomy, and well functioning. Drove it for a week around the island and I had no issues with it. When it came time to return the vehicle, checking out was an absolute breeze. The staff is so incredibly friendly and helpful here, and none of them tried to hard sell me on the pre-paid gas or extra insurance. This was such a delightful rental car experience! Alamo was the best! Took a quick shuttle ride from the airport to another building, where their offices are located. We were offered complementary water and snacks, while we waited for a representative. We had quick service, were allowed to pick the color of our convertible, and off we went. The funniest part, having to put the top down because we had so much luggage, we had no choice but to put the larger suitcases in the back seat, upright. Part of the experience. We booked our hotel/car through Costco Travel, beat deals! Perfect service start to finish! My son and I were on the island this week and never like to stay in one place for too long so a rental is mandatory. Almost put a damper on my first vacation in 2 years and my 14-month old son's first vacation period. Made a reservation for vacation on 10/27/2024 via Chase Travel with points. Was too frustrated to remember this employee's name, so lucky for them to be spared. Traveling with my child, I NEEDED a child seat and was told they ran out. The employee made a brief call, so I stood there and waited and was told there were no child seats left at all. Enterprise and National both share the same lobby area, and the employee told me both of them were also completely out. I calmly discussed if there were any options or anything at all they could do. Nothing more than a fake "sorry" and of course no refund because I paid through Chase Travel. Right away, my wife was able to walk into the Enterprise line wiith no reservation, get a better vehicle for a lower price with a child seat. I also walked over to Budget, and called Enterprise...they both had PLENTY of child seats. We went out to get our vehicle at Enterprise which we were able to choose, and the employee opened a storage locker with at least 40-50 extra child seats ready to go. Maybe a lot more, no shortage whatsoever. To summarize, the Alamo employee for one reason or another, deliberately lied to my face and refused to offer any solution or even suggestion, knowing they already got paid. I am looking into reporting Alamo to the Better Business Bureau, and will happily pay anyone I know to rent a car from ANY other rental car company. Alamo at Honolulu International Airport, you are an absolute joke and abomination of a business. I would bet a lot of money that most 5-star reviews on here are fake. The End. read more

Alamo sucks big time!!!!! When you need local assistance, they say they do not have phones....we really needed to speak with the local baseyard. We were assisted by the local baseyard agent and were given info directly. Calling the #844 phone # we were told the local baseyards do not have phones. Ahhhh, we all know they have phones...give me a break!! What a hassel, stress and the most ridiculous answer ever. My family has always opted for Alamo on vacation and this first experience trying them myself went extremely well. Shuttle - The shuttle buses from the airport to Alamo come very frequently so you don't have to wait more than 5-10 minutes, max, and the shuttle employees are all warm and helpful with luggage. The ride to Alamo is literally 2 minutes. Pick-up - The employee at check-in was named Rinnell or Rommel. We had no problems picking up about an hour late due to flight delays, and he kept the line moving quickly and efficiently. I booked through AutoRentals.com and apparently had booked for June instead of for our January vacation. He apologized (even though it was my fault) and so quickly matched our price, changed our reservation to the correct days and times intended, and got us out to our car in 10 minutes. He was warm, friendly, helpful, and efficient. Car - When we got to our car, there was only a choice of 1 white 2020 Toyota Corolla which was consistent with our reservation that states "Toyota Corolla or similar." The car was clean, comfortable, reliable, and the A/C worked great. It also had Bluetooth, touch screen, and to our surprise, a self-driving mode (that we used for only about a block as we were anxious about it, but it seemed to work very very well. Drop-off- Drop-off signs are posted very well at the airport and the process was very simple, we just had to worry about getting ourselves and our stuff out of the car, and they handled the rest. Nothing to sign. Do note that there's a temporary incidentals charge on your card at pick-up regardless of if you pre-paid or not, but this is standard with both hotels and rental car companies. Some customers seemed surprised or frustrated by this for some reason, but it's standard. I'll definitely be booking with Alamo in the future for other vacations and when we go back to Hawaii. read more

First I want to say I rented a car from Alamo day 1 was good day day 2 the car broke down at the stop light in the middle of the street on waikiki, light went on and the engine died. I had 2 grand daughters in Waikiki, my grand daughter said put in park and turn the car back on. It was a Nissan car. The car started but the engine light was still on. We found enterprise Rental car thank God it got us there safe. I can't thank the lady there I told her what happened, she got me a Toyota in 10 minutes. I was so grateful I forgot to ask her for her name. She stated for your inconvenience don't put gas and lt them know what happened. So when I returned the car I didn't put gas and I hope I wasn't charged. I have to look. We could of got hit, thank God we didn't. read more

When I arrived, entered the Disneyland looking line with throngs of people expecting it to be at least a two hour wait. However, to my surprise, the line moved quite quickly! I was surprised. There were about 4 agents working but whatever their protocols were, they were quick, friendly, efficient and quite accommodating. I ended up feeling badly not having my airline confirmation code readily available so I felt like I was holding up the line to look for it! Make sure you have extra credit cards to use in case your debit card blocks their patrons from doing business with Alamo or other establishments. Key point here is that they accept debit cards with confirmed departing airline confirmation codes. Don't ask me why. Their computer systems are fast. You sign and initial on the computer device they hand you, give you the rental agreement documents in their paper folder and direct you to claim your vehicle on the 3rd floor. Once you're on the 3rd floor around the corner to your left exiting their counter, you are greeted by welcoming Alamo agents directing you to your choice of vehicle... if you rented an economy car they will tell you to pick any from the front row with keys on dash or cupholder, intermediates on the next aisle and so forth. They have impressively streamlined facilitating the rental process with ease and enjoyment so you can quickly enjoy your Hawaiian vacation! Once you select your vehicle, you head towards the exit booths and present the folder with your drivers license and you are off! The cars are clean, relatively new mine only having 21k miles, smell great inside with powerful AC!! They even provide you with a Clorox wet wipe pack to wipe down the interior of the vehicle you rent for added protection from germs! Well done Alamo Honolulu Hawaii! You are superb and the very best I have experienced in quality products, quality service, high quality efficiency and awesome teamwork! All companies would benefit modeling your business practices and standards! Highly impressive!! Booked a rental for a week. After getting to hotel we find a baby roach. A few hours later we get back in rental to go to our first reserved dinner. Open the door and we see another one. We all start looking and we are now seeing them come out of vent, in the cup holder & trunk. It was infested. Called Alamo & they were closed. We missed dinner being we had no car. The next morning we call & told them we needed a new van. They said we would have to get in van & drive out of parking garage since out of garage since tow truck didn't fit in garage. We refused to step foot back in van. They then tell us we would have to wait for tow truck employee willing to drive it out. And that they couldn't give us a time & we would have to be there when they arrived. So I guess all 7 of us would be stuck in hotel until then. A few hours later Alamo agreed to send us an UBER back to airport to pick up a new van. We now have missed our 7:30 am excursion. I felt like 2 days of our 7 day vacation was wasted & stressful. They took 2 days off price of rental but with what we missed, the hassle & inconvenience it wasn't enough. I would much rather have paid full price & got the most out of our vacation without having to deal with disgusting roaches. read more

Our account lets us go directly to the cars and select the car, drive to the gate and get the paper work and leave. i was sick and in the Emergency department in our home town and unable to make the trip so my wife had to go without me. Alamo refused to give the car to my wife even though she had the credit card with her. she had to go to counter, stand in line and then pay for another car. Alamo charged us for both cars and so far has refused to refund the car they wouldn't give us. I need to update my review as it is now 2023 and I recently used this Alamo location at HNL after hearing about the changes in the past year. Most of the car rental places, including Alamo, are now consolidated in a parking structure at the airport. Instead of having to fight your way to get onto individual rental company shuttles, all shuttles now go to the consolidated area in the airport. There is always a shuttle ready and available and it takes just a few minutes to the rental car area. This design was way overdue. It is much more convenient now. Once I get to the Alamo counter, the agent was very friendly and explained everything. The process was quick and simple. Then a short walk to another friendly agent near the cars who pointed out the row of cars from where I can choose to drive. Returning the car was easy and quick. The shuttle ride to the terminal was also quick. No problems getting onto an open shuttle right away and the driver helped with loading and unloading all luggage. This made my trip this year less stressful and more enjoyable. read more
