    Picked up my rental at the Honolulu airport, I reserves online. Pick up was quick and smooth and my reservation was upgraded for free. I drove a nice newer Hyundai Tucson and it was a great ride. My return was also smooth and no surprise charges once my return was processed. Will be a return customer for sure. For reference I've rented from Alamo and Enterprise and I've had good experiences with both as well.

    DO NOT RENT from this SCAM car rental company! Our very expensive rental in Honolulu stayed in the Hilton hotel garage all 5 nights we were there bc we weren't able to make it out. When we dropped the car off the girl there was incredibly rude to us and our two little children as we were unloading to leave. We asked if we were fine to go and she said yes and the we are sent a bill of almost $1600 for tiny microscopic scratches that could NOT have possibly been from us since the care never moved! We've rented from Sixt several times in the past but this will be the last as it's clear they're doing this shady move plenty of other renters. Never heard of anything like this in our 20 years of renting cars! The photo itself is absurd.

    I wanted to hold back sharing this review but I can't and I need to share. I rented a bmw x5 expecting a nice vehicle and all clean but I don't a vehicle infested with bugs as per the return agent they are called German cockroach. Just imagine from the sound of that. I spoke to one of the booth agent when I returned the vehicle and they said a manager will reach out and until now no communication has been made. I called customer service and they said wait 2 days... and still none... As you can see on the video those are only a few the first time I opened the door there was at least a dozen of them and they run away once they feel movement from opening the door. These bugs are hiding underneath the seats of the vehicle and carpet.

    The technology of the interior of the BMW took a little trial and error. The backup camera isn't anywhere near as good as our Hyundai.

    The check-in process was quite smooth. Our flight arrived a couple of hours before our car (a small SUV) was ready, so we were offered an alternative, a BMW 3 SUV. The agent gave me a discount, instead of $70 per day, it would be $35 per day! There was no mention of the word, "UPGRADE". I assumed the entire cost was $35 per day, so I agreed. Later, I found the $35 was ON TOP OF THE ARRANGEMENT I made online!! I left a review expressing my displeasure. The following day, the company rep called me. I described the events. The rep was a very pleasant young man, and he understood. He ended up removing the entire fee for the BMW! I've never had any rental company exhibit such a concern for keeping a customer happy, and we have rented cars for over 40 years. Kudos to you, SIXT!! Could probably use a quick explanation of some of the technological workings of some cars.

    The "proof" they sent me of the "damages" to the car

    Beware this company, they will try to scam you and claim you "damaged" the car. We had our rental for about 5 days. Returned it and did a walk around WITH THE SIXT EMPLOYEE to check the vehicle for damages. He said everything looked great and we turned over the keys and flew home. I just received an email that they "found additional damages" on the car. They described this as a superficial scratch 10cm long on the front license plate. They sent me a photo of this "damage" and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, no evidence whatsoever of any sort of scratch. It just looks like a normal license plate. I've attached the photo they sent me. We won't ever be using Sixt again. It's clear they are not worried about being an ethical company and are only concerned about how much money they can squeeze out of their customers

    Refund approved but not honored (Sixt computer)

    This is indeed the address where I have already sent my complaints. However, three days after my departure, you withdrew the reimbursement that had been made -- and even more. And today, a new explanation appears: so-called "fuel charges." The service@sixt.com team responded that these were fuel fees and that the matter was closed. Yet, on site, the rental agent clearly stated that everything was included, with no additional fees, and that the fuel was covered by Sixt. He also confirmed the reimbursement, explaining that it was simply a deposit. Therefore, there is no point in pretending to have a caring customer service in public comments when, in reality, your practices consist of taking back the amounts owed once customers are no longer present to contest them. It didn't have the fuel efficiency if a compact car and it was much larger than I expected. The window visibility was lacking so I returned it. The clerk said my only other choice was a Kio with a boxy build. It was actually a compact SUV but I snatched it as it was better than the first car in many ways. Well, I can't complain too much since I only paid $40/ day but it wasn't fuel efficient.

We met with agent-Chloe at the counter (I remembered her name as the perfume with same name was my favorite back in the late 80's/early 90's), she provided excellent service and provided us with the paperwork and information. We also met with one of the next agent in the parking garage (forgot her name sorry), she showed us to our vehicle and advised we could select our preferred vehicle. It was a swift 15 minute transaction from beginning to driving off. Upon returning the vehicle, met with an agent-Kayla (I remembered her name same as our daughter's). She was able to update and change the credit card for completing the payment transaction. Everyone was so very nice, happy and with beautiful smiles =) We would definitely use them again on our future trips.

However when we got to our car, we noticed that the seats wouldn't fold down, which was an issue for us because we had our golf clubs and needed the extra room. We went back to service counter near where the cars were and they were able to switch us into a bigger Jeep at no extra cost. It took a little bit of time as there were a lot of people in line here but it was well worth the wait. The new 2026 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was such a nice drive and was easy to navigate while driving. Definitely a car worth getting especially if you have some bigger pieces of luggage. Drop off was a breeze and everything went as smooth as one could want for a car rental. I wouldn't hesitate renting from Budget again.

After picking up my luggage, I got in line at the Dollar counter around 12:30 PM, with at least 60 people ahead of me. It took about two hours just to reach the service counter. After that, I was given a card and told to go downstairs to the first-level pickup area, where I had to wait another hour before the car was ready. The whole process felt like Beetlejuice car rental purgatory -- slow, surreal, and completely uncaring. Dollar/Thrifty may be cheaper compared to other rental companies, but be prepared to be ignored and stand in a mind-numbing line for three hours or eternity, whichever ends first. No apology, no explanation, and no sense of urgency from the staff at any point. Others before and after me were clearly going through the same painful experience. Meanwhile, I did not see the same long lines or wait times at other rental counters in the HNL CONRAC. Someday we may all have to wait in line at purgatory... so you might as well start practicing your patience at the Dollar HNL CONRAC. This was a terrible and frustrating way to start a visit to Honolulu.

The van was TRASH when we received it. Dents, scratches all the way around. A leftover empty plastic water bottle was still in the back. There was sand in the car. I'm not sure how this even passed "servicing." They said it was the only van they had left, so we went with it and got through the rest of our trip just fine. At return, while we're still going through the terminal, we receive a damage claim. What a joke. Their car already had all of these damages before we even left the parking lot. The mileage they claimed wasn't even correct. On their report, they claimed we drove 13,412 MILES during the NINE days we had the car. That is how many miles I put into my car over a WHOLE YEAR. For the record, our actual mileage driven was 248 miles. Thankfully, I have photos of the car documenting the damage already present when we received the car.
