They're open and ready to discuss and are willing to give a ballpark estimate without sight over the phone. Mine ballparked as something I should bring into the shop as it's worth saving! After speaking with a multitude of companies, I was met with many dead ends. With these previous companies, communication would stop or people wouldn't show. Then I contacted Christensen Computer Company. Richard called me very shortly after I sent a request. He was flexible with scheduling a day to come look at our cameras. He was very communicative during the whole process and always made sure I received a call back. When he got here to look at the camera, he immediately started investigating. I don't know much about cameras, but I knew our system was older and had a LOT going on. I could tell right away, Richard was very knowledgeable. He immediately spotted all the little pieces of our system and how it was connected, and confirmed it did have a LOT going on. However, this did not deter him. Richard explained to me how our system was set up and started talking about different solutions depending on the problem. Our camera ended up needing a simple fix and it has been working great since. Our office is now talking about installing more cameras for increased security. He was very patient with all my questions, gave me a few good options, and was very understanding about our requests for estimates. Chad was very kind and listened to my story. He is a wonderful human being who truly cares first and foremost about his customers as people, AND he is also highly skilled as a computer technician. He did everything he could to revive the computer and after about a half an hour told me that the motherboard was likely the culprit. I saw that he tried everything possible and headed home. I was about to pull into the drive and I got a call and text message from Chad saying he fixed the laptop! He told me that he truly felt for my situation and was determined to give it another try. The auxiliary battery that powers the motherboard was the culprit, and he returned the laptop to me for just the initial assessment fee. Chad really deserves so much more because he restored the remaining piece of my sister to me, and for that, I am so thankful. We also spent a little time talking about life, which I so appreciated in the midst of my grief, and I left feeling uplifted and encouraged that there are still good people left in the world who really want to help and aren't looking to scalp you for all your money. Over time it had become loose and it wasn't charging the battery and it wouldn't power the laptop unless the power cable was jiggled around. I had purchased a replacement power port wiring harness online and planned on replacing it myself. However, once I got to screw #20 and about the 3rd layer in, I realized I didn't have the tools or the expertise to fix this problem. So, I started looking around for a shop to do the work. I'm happy to say that Inkyo was able to swap out the power port harness and had the laptop back up and running in no time at all. I've gone to other fix-it places in the past and I've had mixed results. I'm happy to say that Smart Fix did the work well, fixed my problem and the price was completely reasonable. If you have a broken phone, tablet or computer, I heartily recommend stopping in to our hometown tech fix-it shop, Smart Fix, to get it repaired.
