There are three types of pizza in Seattle. There is your bottom tier take out/delivery a la Domino's, Papa Johns, and Pizza Hut. On the next tier are your neighborhood joints like Piecora's and All Purpose Pizza. Then you have you're local superpowers like Flying Squirrel and Serious Pie. Then you have the likes of Pazzo's. They make a solid pie, the calzones are just as good, but I wouldn't drive across town to eat there. I would rate them on the second tier just because they make great pizza, it's a cool spot, but I wouldn't drive across town just to have it. If I were craving pizza and in South Lake Union or Eastlake though, it would be my first stop. read more

Best pizza I've had in Seattle, and I've lived here my whole life. Not even a fan of crust, but often times I've turned my slice around and eaten it from the outside in it's THAT good. Would highly recommend a plain cheese w/ marinara sauce, goat cheese and pesto. Their ceasar salad is the best too. Dressing has anchovy paste and lots of garlic. They make their own croutons. You can add a small ceasar to your meal for a whopping $2. They also have HUGE Grey Goose martinis for $8. (It's handy that I live within walking distance). Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because on a super hot day it's unbearable inside. The pizza oven is up front and their ventilation system is bad. If it was 90 degrees one day it will be 92 degrees in there at 10:00pm. Luckily this isn't a serious issue in Seattle. Pazzo's is my favorite place to take people in Eastlake. I probably would never have discovered it if I didn't live three blocks away, but I'm so glad I did. Its laidback brick decor gives off the casual vibe that I look for in a good bar. During the holidays, sparkling Christmas lights make the whole place seem even more cozy. Loves: The Miguel pizza. Decent drink prices. Mac and Jacks on tap. The feta-rosemary salad dressing. Patio seating in the summer. Free wi-fi. Comfy couches and friendly staff. Very close proximity to the Zoo Tavern. Definitely don't loves: Slow service even when the bar is empty. As nice as the waiters and bartenders are, it always feels like Pazzo's is a bit understaffed. read more

Cheese rules at this place. Seriously. No, really. I mean it. The calzones and pizzas are paaaacked with cheese. I shudder to think what extra cheese would mean. That being said, if you are looking for something tasty that will definitely fill you up, this is your spot. Pairing the calzones with a house salad makes you feel healthy, but there is probably a 1/4 lb of cheese on that too. But I do love this place. My partner and I randomly stopped here one day as we were heading home from something not important enough for me to remember. We were starving and didn't care to read Yelp reviews prior to stepping in. So we stepped in. On a whim, we ordered the Matisse calzone and a 10" personalized pizza. The calzone had potential. The dough was so thin on the bottom that the entire contents leaked through! Aside from that, the flavor was great and ingredients tasted fresh. Re: Pizza... sorry Pazzo's, but you have a lot of work to do. The crust is too thin and soggy and is topped with so much cheese that a piece is difficult to hold comfortably in your hand. Not a huge deal but we were improperly charged for a 20" pizza instead of a 10". Glad I said something, otherwise our entire order would have been $40 + I will probably skip a Pazzo's visit in the future, no matter how hungry I am. read more

Pazzo's is one of our local pizza/pub joints (within walking distance). The bar is Greeeaaaat! They make strong drinks there -- they are not stingy with their liquor. The prices are very reasonable on premium drinks, a very welcome surprise since I like to drink either a single malt like McCallen's or Bushmill's. If I remember correctly even these calls were only a few bucks. When I don't feel screwed on the prices, I tend to patronize a place more often and tip better to show my appreciation. So I think they actually come out ahead on the deal. If I go to a place that wants to make that big killing, then I tend to avoid the place unless I am dragged in there kicking and screaming by friends. You don't have to drag me kicking and screaming into Pazzo's because 1) Good Bar, with good liquor and good prices 2) Good Pizza, subs, and calazones. I can not say it is the best I've ever had but I like the pizza. It is good hand-tossed fare. But what I order most is a meatball sandwich (yum!). Also, the calizones are very fluffy and satisfying. We mentioned we were there for happy hour and didn't note to tell that wine was not on the happy hour menu when we asked for a glass of house red. My wife and I go to Pazzos like once a week -- twice occasionally -- and have NEVER been disappointed. Walking out of The Eastlake Zoo last night we smelled wonderful garlicky aromas wafting out of Pazzo's. The place was almost full at 10:30 so we figured it must be good. Not sure if it was the pizza we ordered or if they would all taste the same, but they aren't my cup of tea. Crust was too crackery. I like a nice chew to the crust. Sauce had an odd sweet flavor to it that I also did not like. And the sausage & pepperoni gave me heartburn. :( Not sure if I'd want to give them another try or not with so many other pizza joints around town. How I heard of this place: Through the Entertainment Book. But now that I have sampled an amazing, perfectly fluffy and cheesy calzone, I'm hooked. Type of cuisine: Casual, home-cooked Italian with no accoutrements. Ambiance: The space is open and lined with windows along the front. A large bar area is available and seems to be frequented by regulars, off-duty staff and friends. The restaurant is very spacious with chairs and tables available for diners throughout, as well as much open space. That space void of furniture seems is reminiscent of a dance floor, and with the loud music, circa 1980s, may just as well be! Just as the food is unpretentious, simple and tasty, the staff (at least on this visit) are accordingly devoid of flair. Very casual and simple, no fuss or unnecessary clutter. What I ordered: Three of us chose to split two calzones ($10.95 each) on this visit, which made for the perfect amount of food to stuff our stomachs! One calzone (the names of each have eluded me) included spicy sausage, pepperoni, fresh basil, mozzarella cheese and ricotta. The second, including a few of my own substitutions, came with pepperoni, green bell peppers, onion, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese and gorgonzola. Each calzone comes with a side salad of iceberg lettuce, tomato and croutons topped with a creamy garlic dressing. We ordered an additional salad for $2. What I loved: The calzones really cannot be beat! The cheesy inside, the spicy pepperoni and the fluffy, soft but crisp dough. Melts in your mouth. The dressing on the salads, reminiscent of the creamy Italian dressing at the Spaghetti Factory, was delicious and not overpowering. Why I loved it: The food is good, the space casual enough for a last-minute lunch and despite the long wait for food, well worth the cost in terms of gustatory satisfaction! Was another local joint that was up the hill from me when I lived off Eastlake. I loved their pizza bread, house salad, and whatever calzone fancied me. Pizza & Fat Tire.... Their lunch specials were always perfect: a slice of pizza & a hearty salad. Pazzo's is a great little neigborhood pizza place. My fiance and I have been for pizza a few times and for happy hour a few times! For pizza, we've shared the large half Prato (pesto with artichoke, tomato, feta, mozzerella, parmesan) and half Pollo Pazzo (BBQ chicken). Both were good, but the Pollo Pazzo was a clear winner for us. The large pizza is $21 and left us enough to feel full and have a few slices left over for the lunch the next day! For happy hour, they have a few specials, like a discounted caesar salad and personal pizza. There are about 8 beers in tap, which rotate, that are around $3-4 on happy hour. They've never had a wheat beer when I've been in though; more dark, hoppy, ale type beers! They have wine selections as well, although I believe the HH special on wine isn't quite as good as the beer special. All in all, a good stop for an easy dinner. It's right down the street from us. If it was farther, not sure we'd travel for it, but given it's close by, it's pretty good! read more

I used to live in Eastlake and would find myself ordering from Pazzo on a regular basis. It's been a couple years since I have eaten there, mainly due to the fact that even though their calzones are good they create a gut bomb sensation after consuming. Walked down here last night and we split the Big Salad and a DiMaggio (with JP requesting that sausage be added, they obliged). If you are going to name your calzone after a MVP/All star player I am expecting an all star calzone. Instead what we got was a lot of dough and cheese...I was looking forward to the spinach that it was supposed to include and I think there were maybe 3 pieces tops. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't Yankee star quality, ya know? Service was mediocre...they were fairly busy for a Tuesday (perhaps because of the NBA final), but our beer was cold so I can't complain too much. Pazzo's isn't a bad spot. The food and the service is decent. I usually order a calzone with a side of Dave's salad. I ask for the sauce on the side because it makes the calzone soggy and I hate when things are oversauced. Overall it's a good calzone. The dough is soft and they are a decent size. The Dave's salad is good but it's hard to kick the garlic breath for 24 hours. The servers are ok. I've had friendly and blah servers in the past. The take out situation is weird. You have to go to the bar and it's just not set up very good. Half the time the bar is packed so you just stand around looking lost on who is going to ring you up for the pick up. They have large TV's and a bar if you want to dine in. It's worth a visit if you want a calzone and you are in the Eastlake neighborhood. read more

Service is excellent - Carlos in particular did everything he could to cater to an unexpected large group. He moved tables around, kept refilling water and drinks and really went above and beyond. He was also the only server on a Sunday night which seemed kind of odd... so while we had great service - I doubt any of the other diners could have since he was always at our table! Food was ok, but nothing memorable. They don't really have good options to cater to a large group - this is more of a 4-6 person-ish type of restaurant... not the 12 that we had. No group salads - each had to be ordered individually. If you are vegetarian - you have lots of pizza options here. Luckily I convinced them to convert the Sicilan calzone into a pizza which turned out great. What was unfortunate - was the number of beers Pazzo's was out of on a Sunday night which happened to include my favorite. Travesty. If you're looking for decent food and good value with great service - Pazzo's could be your place. But so could many other pizza joints. read more

My friend and I were driving around Eastlake trying to find a place to eat because I was staaarving! We found a parking spot and decided to walk along until we found something suitable. At 5:54pm, we stumbled into Pazzo's because everyone inside looked like they were having fun, and managed to put in an order before happy hour ended at 6pm. We ordered a second beer at 6:01 and it was nice of them to bill it at happy hour prices. We enjoyed ourselves here; the ambiance is that of a laidback neighborhood hangout. Lots of groups of friends were happily chatting away, without the volume being obnoxious. However, there was also at least one person there alone working on a laptop. My kind of place! My friend and I each ordered an individual sized pizza off the HH menu ($5 if memory serves me correctly). Even though the waitress misheard me and got one of my topping choices wrong, it was still delicious and I didn't bother mentioning it to her. In fact, the pizza was SO GOOD that I wanted to order a second one, even though I was full. That said, I am hoping to go back soon! I'd also like to add that their draft beer list is excellent. I ordered Maritime's Portage Bay Pilsener (a favorite that is rare to find and always makes me happy to see on a draft list!) and my friend tried the 1554 on a whim and we both agreed it was delicious! (Hence ordering the second one before the first one was finished!) We both noticed root beer floats for $3 on the HH menu (posted on the chalkboard) after HH was over and agreed we wanted to come back and try one as well! Can't speak to the rest of the menu, because I honestly don't remember anything about it. I go there for the Calzones and my girl goes there for the Paninis. This is my favorite pizza-ish food in Seattle. Quality beer selection and rarely have to wait for a table, even on Friday/Saturday nights. Only negative is that it can get loud in there...I've had one time of bad service but it wasn't because of rudeness more like it just took forever and we got our salads with our dinner. read more

They have about a million pizzas and calzones to chose from (and calzones can be pizzas and pizzas can be made as calzones). You can build your own too, of course, but why?!?! I give this place 3 stars only based on the stiff drinks. It looses stars for consistency. After a year and a half of visiting this place the service SUCKS. There are a few good servers at times but other then that you must flag down the help multiple times. I have given up on taken friends there since they are tired of waving at the waitress only to have her walk off the other direction. Waving empty beer bottle in air didn't work either. Was not busy and was not the first time. I understand that wood fired pizza ovens can take a while when there is a crowd and the wait to cook a yummy calzone is worth it. The Menu has some great tasting items on it, but its pretty boring once you have been a few times. The food is good, cooks are capable I rarely get something thats bad, its just the menu REALLY needs a face lift (or at least a reprint so it looks new) Of course you can get anything made to order but its nice to see a bit of thought put into a menu from time to time. Stiff drinks, Friendly service, SLOW service (which is not good) and good food (if you have not been there more then 4 times) If you have not been check it out. We were looking for an inexpensive casual place for Italian. We chose Pazzos and were not disappointed. The pizza reminded us of a Rome cafe and the calzone was delicious. I came in with my boyfriend. We were seated right away. The serving staff was friendly and took our order right away. I had the Di Maggio Calzone. They let me substitute my olives for Kalamata olives. It was a perfcet calzone!! It was soooo good. I can't wait to come back and try others. The calzones are out of this world. I love breaking the buttery dome of crust with my fork at the beginning and then savoring the last few doughy bites of it at the end. The fillings are oozy and spicy and fresh tasting. The pizza is equally good, with a doughy, flaky crust. A good balance of toppings, not a greasy, cheesy mess. I love the house dressing and croutons on the tiny, overflowing side salads. My only complaint here is the spotty service and the length of time I've always had to wait for food. This place gets very crowded, but even when it's not, the service is the same. Still, I take comfort that what I'm waiting for will be worth it. read more

Why did the chicken cross the road to Pazzo's? To be immortalized into one of their delicious calzones of course! There are many visits to Pazzo's for both my husband and I and all of our friends in the future! It has a nice homey atmosphere with classically simple decor; wooden tables and picture here and there. The service is consistently good, no napkins on your lap or yuppiness., just simple casual and friendly servers. The calzones are devine as well as the pizza- the salads are a little lacking in imagination, but they aren't why we come back! We have tried Pazzo's twice now and were very pleased both times. The first time was to try a sandwich and calzone. Both were excellent. The sandwich was amazing infact. But it was the second visit, to get their pizza, that really was impressive. It was a last minute decision, instead of ordering something for delivery, I decided to run down and grab a pizza to take home. I was impressed. The service was friendly just like the first visit. When I got the pizza home and took the first slice out, wow. They do not skimp on toppings or cheese. The crust was amazing, fresh, chewy, and seasoned well. And the pizza overall was excellent. I can't see myself giving 5 stars to a bar/pizza joint, but this place may just be the best pizza in seattle. Much better then the olympian IMHO. Definately give it a try. read more

Had the worst service the other night. Not only did the waitress argue with us when she brought the wrong order, she argued with us when she messed up on our bill blaming it on the "busy" hour. Once we actually got our correct order the food was burnt and no one who was working seemed to care. Pazzo's used to be a great place with a great happy hour but has really gone downhill. Definitely don't recommend going here if you are looking for a nice neighborhood spot with great service, would give zeros stars if I could. read more
