When I moved to a new building in Oakland I was referred to Paxio by Direct TV, as Paxio holds the exclusive Direct TV service contract to my building. When calling Paxio to set up installation for Direct TV, they quickly offered internet service as well. I decided to go with them for internet as it was very fast and simple activation. So far the internet service as been worth the price. Regarding the Direct TV set, Paxio could not have care less about getting that installed. Long story short, it took 2 months and several calls to Direct TV customer service to finally have Paxio set up my Direct TV. At which, I learned that that the satellite on the building does not receive an HD sign. They never mentioned this at all. I then had to call Direct TV and spend an hour on the phone to convince them to let me out of my contract. Paxio clearly doesn't care about servicing Direct TV. Best of luck if you have to go thru them for Direct TV. read more

We've had Paxio internet for most of the time we have lived in our condo in Emeryville. It's THE option if you want awesome service & don't care for cable TV with their bundles. Oh Paxio, your speed is like crack and I'll be addicted as long as I live in my complex but your service and billing system must be run from a high school kids basement. You could have at least emailed us during the couple of outages last month especially telling us to manually input our DNS addresses since two out of the three DNS servers were down. The online billing account system is often broken. And last gripe, upstairs and downstairs are on different subnets? What's up with that? If you want lightning speed for your internet service -Paxio is the way to go-- I cancelled my Uverse account and started with Paxio which is much much faster and less expensive! The best part about Paxio is the Regional Sales Manager Ryan de Long! Best customer service ever- if only all companies had employees like Ryan. He is very friendly and professional and made the entire set up a snap. I am happy to have made the switch to Paxio and look forward to dealing with Ryan in the future if I need further help as I know I can depend on friendly, knowledgeable and professional customer service! read more

I filled out their online service request twice and called them (a third party call center) three times within two weeks hoping that they'd contact me for signing up their internet service. But, no one from the company has bothered to reach me. I've never had such bad service experience with any other company anywhere! Although I'd like to have their "blazing fast" internet, I doubt seriously that I'd be a happy customer judging from the way they treat their potential customers. I, too, will give up on this company. The excuse that this company gives out through its 3rd party call center for not responding is that it's experiencing high service demand. Without exaggerating, the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They only respond when you threaten to cancel service. They billed me for time after I cancelled their service. Fast internet, but if anything goes wrong, you're completely on your own. Horrible, horrible business. read more

Very stable, fast, and cheap compared to bigger companies. Only a couple of outages through 4 years of service and each time it was addressed promptly, and with great customer service. I hesitated quite a bit between 1 and 2 stars. The deciding factor is the total unresponsiveness of their technical support department. My phone service with Paxio has been out for 2 weeks and counting. I contacted them 6 times by phone or email and every time I talked to a customer support, they seemed to learn of the issue. Translation: they never entered any trouble ticket for the problem I reported. They were great a year ago when I got calls from unknown numbers. They would respond to email under 24 hours. This level of service has disappeared. Their billing website totally sucks, and if you want a good laugh use Google Chrome to view the site. Fields where you're supposed to enter your info (name, credit card info, etc) resize when you move the mouse around. I told them about this less than 1 month after they switched to that site, but they still haven't fixed it. Bottom line: Paxio seems to be going out of business, do not sign up for their service if you really need internet at home. The symmetric speed is great but not worth the hassle. ------------------------------------------ Update: To be fair to Paxio technical employees, they do their job well once they're alerted. A technicial called me this morning to let me know he had just been notified my phone service was down. Apparently their company is actively looking into hiring a customer support support company. Hopefully they'll make the transition soon. read more

This company is a hot mess. The Internet was great and the staff were a mjor frustration. After a month their main tech could not get our phone to work. He did not come prepared when he could be bothered to show up or respond to calls. Lots of runaround. Went back to Comcast. Speed very close. read more

I have had Paxio service for about a year now and I want to let you all know they are a great company to work with. As a former installer for one of the larger companies I know what it can be like in this industry, however, providing you have a fiber-optic connection and are in an area which they service, Paxio provides a superior product compared to their competitors. While I admit that on occassion my connection is a bit sporadic, it has never been something which lasted for an unbearable length of time. Thier service is also SYNCRONOUS, meaning you get (X mbps download = X mbps upload). while this may not seem that important, you need to understand that most major internet providers only give you 10-20% of your download speed as an upload speed. This is a great service and one that most consumers will never realize the value of. On the customer service side I have only had an issue one time, and when I called I was told by a live rep that the convertor for my area was being serviced. My signal was out for about an hour and came back just as promised. read more

The speed is great, if you can get it. It was great for me for a few months. Unfortunately, the customer service is truly awful. Yes, worse than Comcast. I'm paying for 1 GB of service, and for the last week, I've been and getting less than 1M. I reported this problem on Saturday, and five days later, nothing has been resolved. I've sent them data, I've left a thousand messages. I've tried time after time to speak to a human, but they just don't have enough humans working there to fix the many problems with their network. Paxio provide great internet service when everything working. When it does not work, you can see the domino effects. Everything messed up. I used them for past 6 years because they are the main provider in my townhouse complex. Everything is fine until the last year. Internet dropped off, when they do get it back.. you do not get back the full service you purchased (unless you check your internet speed every now and than, you will not know that your service has been downgraded)... I sign up for a Value package which allow me to upload/download 20 megabit/sec. When ever my service is interrupted by their hardware failure, it always set me back at 3 megabit/sec. They never set it back unless you know about it and call in to complaint. Customer service is horrible. You call in to a support center but the people there does not know anything about internet. They will have a tech call you back, but they never did... For the first 3 years, they are great.. good internet, no disruption, good customer support.. Now! I wouldn't recommend them... They downgrade my package from 20 megabit/sec to 10 megabit/sec without any notification.... Still trying to set thing correctly... read more

I have been a Paxio customer for residential internet service for last few years. To be honest, I have been pretty satisfied with Paxio with respect to its speed, reliability and cost. Not sure what happened in the last year or so, the service has become very unreliable. There have been frequent outages, and worse the resolution time takes sometimes 1-2 days. Early this year they tried to transition the network for higher speed, and that resulted in outage for almost full day. Yesterday again service was out, and it took more than 24 hours to restore. I am surprised in this day and age, how come their network does not have redundancy so there is some sort of backup in the event of failure. This is networking 101. Moreover I am disappointed at their technical team expertise where they routinely take such long times to troubleshoot and fix the outage. The community I live in, has many Paxio customers and unfortunately many of us have started thinking about switching to another ISP. Only good thing during these outages is their periodic email updates about their progress on outage resolution. Hope someone from Paxio take this seriously, and can take corrective actions. read more

I've been a user for about two weeks now and the speed, the prompt replies to calls, the installation tech's friendly demeanor all add up to one seriously great service from a seriously great company. First off, note that their service may not be available in your area, and a lot of the "negative" reviews here are complete hogwash because there was no service available to begin with. If you are one of the lucky ones to have your home or building pre-wired with their fiber, then you should rejoice and switch to Paxio immediately. The service itself has been rock solid with the occasional hiccup here and there, but in 4 years I have never experienced a single extended interruption. Symmetric up/down service kicks ass and I have been able to get consistent 50Mb regardless of time of day ( contrary to CrapCast where speeds are heavily shared and can drop significantly if there are more users accessing, not to mention pathetic upload speeds). As far as customer service, I have always received prompt response from Chris for billing/service related enquiries. To top it off, these guys are significantly cheaper than the other "big" ISPs ( Comcast ) and are now even offering 1G and 10G service ! No hassle of upgrading cable modems, no DOCSIS version bullshit anymore, all you need is a $40 fiber to Ethernet converter and you are money. Highly recommend Paxio and it is truly a refreshing change from the banal crap from Comcast. read more

I've had the same experience as most reviewers -- Paxio was great 6 months ago, and were very hands on and responsive. The billing switch was confusing and their support and billing website is pretty amateurish. They came out several times at my request, but refused to do the most simple wiring -- literally 6 inches of wiring in my drop box. It should have been a 5 minute job, but I got the runaround from 2 managers about their inability to do any in-house wiring. My house is completely pre-wired with fiber optic, except for the 6 inches they needed to add in the drop box... why would I pay $50/month for fiber optic and then have to use a slow WiFi router? Lastly, they've had two outtages in the last couple weeks, and my internet seems much slower -- I think they're just having serious growing pains. I've had it - switched back to Comcast today for $19.99/month and I'm getting 17.32 MBps so I certainly can't complain. read more

We had a rough start but we found out it was our router slowing our speeds down and not the fiber of Paxio. Ryan Delong came by did a check and we swapped routers which I purchased from them and we went up from 8mbps to ranging from 24-49 Mbps on downloads. Uploads up from 9 Mbps to between 19-48 Mbps. read more

Paxio is great! When I was moving in, I'd called Comcast for service. After several days' wait, and in a 4-hour appointment window, they came out and, after the tech, the tech's supervisor, and the manager (by phone) all consulted, were finally able to hook me up. Then my neighbor came by and asked "I didn't want to say anything while they were here, but why aren't you using Paxio?" He explained that Paxio has fiber to the home right here in our neighborhood. I called Paxio right away. The tech was able to turn my service on right then. I was up and running in minutes. Needless to say, I canceled dopey Comcast right away. Paxio has been 100% reliable since then. When I've needed temporary higher bandwidth (to restore a cloud back-up), they've done it immediately and as a courtesy. We installed Paxio point to point Gibabit connection in late July at our new facility. Having had two hard line fiber connections in the past this really made me nervous. The installation was done on time and the service has been awesome so far. And it saved me significant money over fiber. We transfer extremely large files so we actually went from a 100 meg connection to a 1G connection and still saved money. read more

I am CTO of an Inc500 internet company. I have Paxio internet at home and it is easily the best internet service I have seen. They have fiber connect running to our community. I get speeds that are *multiples* faster than any other provider. They have great customer service which is rarely needed. I have some machines with static addresses and they fully support it. In short - these guys are awesome and you get the best bandwidth anywhere. read more

I have had Paxio for a year now and couldn't be happier. I haven't had the issues with the customer service that others have had. They were fairly prompt with a set up issue I had when I started. I haven't had any issues since. The cost of the service is much less than AT&T and Comcast. I'm paying less for 100Mbs than what I paid for AT&Ts service. I own at The Sonora in San Jose and subscribe to their 100 mbps service. We are getting nearly 100 mbps up-and-down at all times of the day. The service was problematic for the first two weeks or so and Paxio could have managed initial expectations better for the first month (system bringup), but for the last several months there have been no outages; things are wonderful and so much better than Comcast. They have also installed a DirecTV satellite on our rooftop and have subscribers to DirecTV as well. read more
