    The Awakening. Good.
    Brian W.

Nice place for coffee and bagels close to Northeastern. Packed with students on a Saturday morning. We got a couple of bagel sandwiches. Mine had egg, American cheese, arugula, tomato, and aioli. Not the greatest sandwich ever, but the everything bagel was so great that this place gets four stars. Lots of small and community tables, so that makes it a little easier to get a table.

    The Sunrise (everything bagel)

I tried Pavement for the first time today. I ordered the Sunrise on an everything bagel. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The bagel itself was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I liked eating it plain. The egg and bacon were pretty standard. The study space is also really nice. I didn't order any drinks and think that would've heavily played into my rating so I hope to come back again to try more items on the menu.

INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER is the term of choice for this Pavement Coffeehouse. Indeed, the negligence and apathy shown by the staff could have surely led to a swift death had it not been for our astute senses and unwavering attention. A brief visit to Pavement Coffeehouse on Gainsborough Street turned into quite the affair. Part of the order was forgotten. Another part was corrupted to no end: indeed, my friend and fellow customer ordered a bagel sandwich that she specifically and clearly requested to be prepared with "vegan egg." After all, were she to consume a real and true egg, the kind from a hen's body, she would have gone into anaphylactic shock, leading to a SWIFT AND SUDDEN DEATH. But alas, despite several mentions and several muted giggles from the staff, the bagel sandwich was disgracefully prepared with a real and true egg, the kind from a hen's body. Alas! Fortunately, my friend and fellow customer recognized from a mere glance that the "vegan egg" appeared to in fact be a real and true egg, the kind from a hen's body. And yes, after I sampled it, I confirmed this suspicion. A SWIFT AND SUDDEN DEATH averted! Since we had taken the products and goods to go, we returned to Pavement to confront the staff about their error. With an apathetic giggle, oblivious to the potential gravity of her mistake, the girlie at the counter simply said that they would prepare another. And another was indeed prepared, this time with "vegan egg." So, you ask, with a potentially deadly affair such as this, why has this establishment been awarded two (2) stars? The answer is that the coffee itself and the food itself were refreshing and tasty. Despite the quality of the products, it seems that a visit to this Pavement Coffeehouse can very well be flirtation with death.

    Undercooked bacon

I usually like coming here but I feel like the quality has been going down hill a lot. Today I bit into my bacon and was disgusted by a very raw taste. I took a look and the bacon is basically undercooked. I'm really grossed out and have a terrible taste in my mouth from this experience. Also not worth the price for them to be neglectful like this.

pretty cafe vibes. i got an iced americano and it was very watered down.. the bagel was okay. i didn't like the way we ordered. you wait in a long line and they call your name to pick it up.. except you can't hear them call your name and you pick up your food cold.

My go-to coffee and bagel spot near campus, usually worth the wait, although the wait can be very long (I've waited an hour+ for a bagel and latte). Can be hit or miss, especially during the busiest hours. Once or twice they've gotten my order wrong and the staff is typically busy and not overly accommodating. My go-to is the sunrise bagel on the rosemary salt bagel. Definitely try the rosemary salt bagel-- I'd never have anything like it! I typically try their specialty lattes and most of them have been great. Definitely a splurge for a bagel and latte, but I'll definitely be back.

The. Best. Bagels. I went three days in a row for breakfast to have the lox bagel with cucumbers and sprouts/capers. I ordered the salted rosemary bagel with the classic lox and cucumbers and sprouts. I don't think I could have been happier. It's heaven in a bagel. Literally so easy to order ahead of time and pick up. They have plenty of options to change up/ add to their normal bagels. The coffee I ordered (iced mocha) on the last day was quite bitter, but did not detract from my bagel experience. Next time I'm in Boston I will definitely be coming back for these bagels alone.

One of the best bagels I've ever had! The rosemary salt bagel was amazing and the vegan options are fantastic. I got that bagel with the veggie tofu spread and the vegetables in it tasted so fresh. The iced coffee here is also great and they have non dairy milk options! Especially for a place in the city, I was impressed by the price of my bagel.

I loved the aesthetic first of all. I had a Lavender infused Lemonade with a Rosemary Salt Bagel. The combination was delicious. Highly recommend.

The matcha at Pavement is the best in Boston. The regular is already already fairly sweet, and adding a pump of vanilla makes it perfect. The Farmstead Bacon Egg and Cheese is wonderful, the bacon is crisp, the cheese is a perfect flavor, and the bagels are fluffy. The blueberry muffins are moist and very berry-ish. Although there is a good amount of indoor seating, it is usually packed so finding a table is often difficult. The music is always extremely loud, which can make it hard to focus if you're looking to find a space to do work. Cashiers are kind and service is always fast. However, I do not recommend their gluten-free options. It was incredibly disappointing, the bread was chalky and the sandwich was barely put together

    Large tea bag! Love it

It was packed with people when I came and there were a few people ahead of me in line, but service was really quick and everyone was kind! I had the lavender pearl green tea and it was absolutely delicious! The condiment bar has everything you need from lids, mills, syrup, honey, and sugars. Even though there's a variety of seating, it's hard to find a spot because lots of them are there to study or get work done. Slightly high noise level, but very cute atmosphere overall! Will definitely be back to try the coffee!

The servers inside are working their tails off...! Their work pace is not the issue, it's the establishment's popularity...! Looks very authentic inside like a restaurant / deli you might find in Firenze. I decided to order the Italian Sub as they make it; no changes. In hindsight, I should've changed a few things I kind of knew I wouldn't like, but wanted to roll with their take on the classic sub. The bread was very fresh and the meats abundant and plentiful! I was not a fan of the balsamic, nor the "hots" (not "hot" so-to-speak, but kind of a marinated sweet pepper, nor am a fan of sweet pickles. Condiments on their sandwich...? Mayonnaise (none), mustard (none). I believe it's only balsamic and EVIO. I ate a half sandwich and was quite full. I honestly threw the other half out. Wasn't my jam. If you'd like to try it, you can have the full summertime experience and wait in the long line in the roasting sun with no apparent breeze or.... PRO-TIP: Place an order online for pick-up; walk up, go in the second door (to the left) straight to the counter where you pay and pick up your sandwich which will be ready by the time you get there. I will try this place again; I'm just modifying the sandwich to a version I know I'll love. Side note: The chip selection had some crazy flavors I've never seen before such as "Fried Egg"

My first introduction…read moreended up being at a corporate event in Boston's Seaport district, where lunch arrived courtesy of one of the city's best-known sandwich shops. The catering was impressive. Before anyone even took a bite. Every half sandwich was individually wrapped and clearly labeled, with salads and sides neatly organized, making it easy for a large group to grab lunch without the usual catering chaos. The choices were wide and varied. We took our lunches upstairs to a rooftop seating area overlooking the Seaport, which made for a pretty great setting on a beautiful afternoon. I chose the Gobbler, and it lived up to the hype I've since read in other reviews. At first glance it sounds like a Thanksgiving leftover sandwich, but it's much more than that. The turkey was fresh and flavorful, and it was complemented by stuffing, cranberry sauce, spinach, pepper jack cheese, and just enough chipotle mayo to add an unexpected kick, without overwhelming everything else. It's one of those combinations that sounds busy on paper but comes together remarkably well. I spoke with several others over lunch, and they were equally impressed with their choices. That's always a good sign when you're feeding a crowd. It's one thing to make a great sandwich to order; it's another to deliver dozens of them catered while maintaining that level of quality. Since this was catered, I can't really comment on the restaurant itself. The service on the catering side, however, was evident in how thoughtfully everything was prepared and packaged, and the rooftop setting where we enjoyed lunch certainly didn't hurt. Needless to say, this won't be my last Sam LaGrassa's sandwich. I fully intend to visit the restaurant one of these days, and in the meantime I'll spend some time trying to recreate that Gobbler at home (maybe with sliced roasted chicken, but also with turkey when I have it). It was that good.

My partner and I had intended to order another sandwich, an eggplant offering, but they were out of eggplant and said there would be more available in 3 hours. We decided to split the "Table". Thank goodness because 1/2 was more than filling. When we arrived there was a line of at least 20 people ahead of us waiting to order. The line moved fairly swiftly as we waited approximately 10 minutes to order. At ordering we were told our order would be ready in 45 minutes. Upon checkout, when the card machine was turned toward us, we opted not to apply a tip, as there was nowhere to sit to enjoy our sandwich and noone to serve us. Reviewing the receipt we saw that we were automatically charged for a 20% tip of $5.20 on the $26 sandwich and further more, the receipt had recommended %'s for an additional tip. The sandwich was ready in the stated 45 minutes. It was very good, but would have been memorable and brag-worthy if we had a table to sit at as we waited and then enjoyed our meal. As it was we ate, sitting on a granite bench adjacent to the Paul Revere on horseback statue surrounded by Boston's finest pigeons. We were unaccustomed to tipping for no service without being notified ahead of cashing out. While we generally tip 20% or better for service, when no service or seating is offered, being charged 20% without notification is offensive and we won't be back.

We almost felt that we were inconveniencing the workers and the wait time is absurd for in person orders. But I have to give credit when it's due, this was by far one of my favorite sandwiches although they are pricey, you can easily feed a party of four with a nice bag of chips on the side. We were blessed with being able to try the table sandwich. The focaccia was fresh along with the mozzarella and arugula. Since we made an online order which quoted us 45 minutes, our sandwich was ready in 20 so unfortunately, the chicken cutlet was not as fresh as we would've liked. Sidenote, the first day we attempted to order in person they quoted us an hour, so we decided to place an order of the following day. Highly recommend placing the order and staying local to be safe. Despite all the sandwiches, well worth the weight, just don't have high expectations for service We love the ambience of a little Italian market, and it was very well kept

I would give the burrito 4 out of 5 stars because of the way it was wrapped - about a third of the burrito was just egg and cheese and the toppings (avocado, red onion, hash browns, salsa verde, crema) were crammed on the other side of the burrito. If there was a way for the burrito to be wrapped so all the ingredients were more evenly distributed - this would easily be a 5/5 breakfast burrito.
