Really torn about this review so let me break it down. Pro's: Food was good. CB Hash was very tasty and omelettes were fluffy and used fresh ingredients. Server was pleasant Cons: Slow Service - took an hour for us to get our food. Cramped - cafe style dining in small space Grease factor - my fiancees egg white, mushroom and swiss omelette was literally swimming in a pool of oil which was big turnoff. Same can be said for my has but not nearly as bad as the omelette. Bad Service - our waitress took order from couple who arrived after us which wouldnt have been so bad if she was more attentive towards us. I drank my water within 10 min of arriving and she never filled it again, didnt even ask. I got the feeling that this restaurant is still trying to find itself. Is it a cafe? A Bakery? A Coffee Shop? Previous reviews complaining about the wait and lack of service were accurate. Yet still, I didnt think the food was bad, just that they missed on execution. Paul's boasts an impressive menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items despite being a cafe. Their coffee is fair trade and delicious (bottomless refills while you dine!) They have an egg Benedict menu on weekends that boasts items like lobster and skirt steak. They marinade their hams in cola, adding a unique savory but sweet flavor. Their deli cases are full of gourmet desserts including huge strawberries dipped in ganache, cupcakes, and build-your-own cannolis! I really want to love this place and despite a few other visits which were not exactly satisfactory, I've still referred people to this restaurant because their food is definitely good even with my experience of rather long wait times. Last time I visited with my mom who has celiac disease (gluten free is not a preference at that point- it's a requirement), our order had been messed up and she ended up eating a meal that did not have gluten free bread. She ended up getting sick later in the day with GI issues as a result. Mistakes happen- we understand. I'd been meaning to check out the new building because it is beautiful, and a friend of mine posted some pictures of the food which looked phenomenal. I figured I would give them another shot. When we arrived, we were seated promptly. Service seemed like it would be quick which was nice- someone came up to us immediately to give us coffee. We placed our order. Minutes later, mom decided after placing our order that she wanted to make a modification to her order (just cancelled the toast for her omelette). Pretty sure at that point, our entire order got cancelled because we sat for at least 45 minutes waiting for an omelette with home fries and a breakfast sandwich with fruit. We had tried to be patient because I know every place has staffing issues, but when we noticed that a large party that was sat at least 15 minutes after us and other tables were already getting their orders... we definitely were forgotten about. The part that is the most upsetting is the lack of recognition on the staff's part. Nobody really bothered to check up on us and the status of our order. When we arrived at the restaurant there were not very many people there so it was by no means super busy. As a server, I feel like I would check up on the order if I realized that a small table of 2 still didn't have their breakfast order.. especially after running other meals out that were definitely placed after our order. We all have challenging days at work which is why I hate to even write a review like this, but I hope that this message will reach the right people and staff will check on their tables more often when they can. No doubt serving is a challenging job at times, but we definitely felt ignored. I can't see myself giving this place another chance which is crummy because I love supporting small businesses and their food really is great when you hit it right. I've referred a lot of patrons to this establishment for the times that I have had good experiences in the distant past... i have just had two poor experiences back-to-back so I think that seals the deal for me at this point unfortunately. read more

I felt sorry for the poor girl working here .... responsible for all tables inside and outside. Plus she had to work the register and get orders for those wanting coffee etc., to go. Needless to say service was slow and things would arrive almost one thing at a time. The iced vanilla latte I ordered had no Vanilla flavor in fact it wasn't good and I didn't finish. My Aunts both got coffee ... one was told she got the bottom of the pot and the other that she had to wait for a new pot, haha. We ordered what looked like very delicious giant cupcakes. They were not delicious. They were very cold, dry and the icing was so cold it was chunky. Definitely not fresh cupcakes. Very disappointing. Not good! Very disappointing! One of our party ordered a Belgium street waffle with Pearl Sugar and was given a very basic waffle with a dusting of powdered sugar. We told the one server it was not what she ordered and the other older server insisted it was. Then asked for maple syrup was given regular syrup. They would not credit it back we had to pay for it. This is by far my favorite breakfast spot around here. Their eggs Benedict is on point every time. Today I had the lobster Benedict and let me tell you, it's to die for. It's made with their English muffins topped with butter, garlic then lobster and the eggs on top. I also added the spinach which was a great choice. Then it has the hollandaise sauce on top which is a fantastic topping for the lobster. I don't think I can eat lobster any other way now. So delicious. My husband and friend had the corned beef has and the Benedict version of it. It was very delicious as well. 10/10 will come again. Next week and every week probably. Ahh Paul Gregorys, a place on the verge of greatness. Sadly just out of reach. First if you are going there for Breakfast, be the first through the door, otherwise you are having Brunch because the service is very slow. In the hopes that they will see this review, here is the key to wait staff success: 1. Move your head and your eyes from side to side as you walk 2. If you see something that needs to be done, coffee refill, plate clear, eye contact with a customer, take care of it. 3. If you chose to remain so understaffed then make steps 1 & 2 the responsibility of everyone, whether they are my waitress/waiter or not. It's called team work. Heading to the kitchen? look for something to bring back with you, walking past the coffee pot? look for empty cups. I've eaten from Paul's twice at this point. Once was for a sit down dinner and it took about 40 minutes for us to get our food, for just two people ordering sandwiches too. The second time i just ordered it to go and picked it up in ten minutes. I honestly haven't had such a disappointing dining experience in years and based off the other patron's faces, they were just as aggravated. Both inside and outside dining weren't full, we were seated immediately and had drinks and ordered fairly quickly. We were a party of two, he ordered the sausage and biscuits special and I ordered the avocado toast. Both dishes were fairly expensive for what they were. His was $13.99 and mine was $14.99. The bread and biscuits are homemade at the restaurant and of course inflation but still fairly expensive for the lackluster meal we received. The prices weren't the worst part and I wouldn't even complain about them if we hadn't waited an hour for our food!!!! My boyfriend had just completed a four hour hike and was starving otherwise I would have walked out. We didn't receive an apology, warning the kitchen was behind, they could have given us complimentary coffee or a muffin or even just an I'm sorry for the wait. I ordered the western omelet with a side of homemade corned beef hash. Now I'm very picky about my corned beef hash - it had better not be a salt-lick and best not taste like it came out of a can! Our host assured us it was the *best* she's ever had. Ooooh, you've just set the bar pretty high! Breakfast came rather quickly and everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Omelet was fluffy, home fries were seasoned well with a good texture (and stupid me forgot to tell them to "burn the fries"). And the hash. THE HASH! OMG it was amazing! Great crunchy sear on them, excellent flavor, not too salty. It was about the best I've ever eaten! Two thumbs up guys! If I had to give them a negative, it would be the lack of fresh juices. Being a "hip" place, one would think that they would have fresh juice on hand. But no, all juices come served in a bottle from their cooler. It's a small cafe with bakery goods with a very homey/family vibe. We were seated right away and the wait staff couldn't have been nicer and quick to serve us! The menu is simple, but offers a good variety of options. Everything was made fresh and like I said they make their own bakery goods making everything even better! Reviews are such a fickled thing. Some love a place, while other warn of thier bad experience. This place was no different...some love...some wanrings. Our experience was not very good. First off, we arrived 15 minutes after they stopped serving breakfast. Which is okay, but the reason we went was for breakfast. Secondly, the food was really bland. It was worse the Meh! We had a variety of food from the flatboy, to Chicken salad sandwiches, to a daily special. All were bland. IT was ahrd to eat the flatboy as the food on top sliped off while trying to ear. Chicken salad sandwich was by far the best ordered item. Service was tepid. At times we received attention, and at other times the coffee was empty. It took forever to make 1 wrap, 1 sandwich and 2 flatboys, and there was only one other person in seating area. We were there for wll over 1.5 hours. We won't be back. Went down to paul gregory's for pasta night with my buddy and order a shrimp alfredo. Before the food came, the waitress gave a small plate of garlic knots that were a great little appetizer. The food then came out very fast and was very delicious. My alfredo sauce was perfectly creamy and the pasta was al dente. Friendly staff. Long wait, did not get checked on once. Did not get my coffee refilled once. Ordered a veggie omelette. It was burnt, the outside was crunchy and gross. The spinach in the omelette still had the long stems on it. Bill came to $33. I contemplated complaining and not paying for it, but decided to just put the bill and never come back. When the cashier asked how our meal was, I said straight up "it wasn't good. The omelette was burnt. It took forever to come out too." The cashier responded with "yeah it's super busy on the weekends, usually a 30-40 minute wait for food" ... then she looked to the young waiter and says "make sure you're telling them 30-40 minute wait for food!" ... so yeah, waited about an hour for an omelette that I did not like.. and one coffee that never got refilled. I had high hopes for this place after reading a good amount of reviews and the bad ones were mostly focused around poor staffing on sundays. We went to order from them on a Tuesday morning and saw that they had lobster Benedict on the menu and could not wait to try it. We get to the place and they said they don't have eggs Benedict available... ok... my next choice was their Belgian Street waffle. They didn't have that either. The woman helping us seemed to be the owner of the restaurant due to her frustration with her employees upon finding that they were out of this stuff at the same time we did. I believe the frustration was justified, but should've waited until their were no patrons around to witness that. So we made our third choice, pancakes. We ordered them along with some fruit on the side and to go. Upon arriving home, we noticed that they did not even give us the side of fruit we ordered. I like the food, but I have yet to have a positive overall experience. There is NEVER enough people working, so you have to wait forever. They save tables for church to get out when customers are aready there there waiting, and they refuse to seat 2 people at a table being saved for 3 or more even with 4 of those tables available. She tried putting as at a two person high top that barely fits one plate instead. The last two times we've gone there we wound up leaving before being seen waiting for someone to come to the table. It could be so much better, but you have to properly staff so customers don't wind up waiting so long. And it's not a one time scenario where someone could have called out, it's literally been every time we've gone. read more
