Inside of beef empanada.

This was an impulse stop as the bakery we were going to closed before we got there. Definitely a treat. Run by a transplanted Argentinian family, they had a variety of empanadas, pastries, small cakes, cookies, and other treats. We purchased an oat milk latte, black coffee, a coconut bar, a pistachio croissant, an almond croissant, and three empanadas - beef, chicken, and ham and cheese. The service was good and all food was really good, hitting "the spot" for sure. I rated them 4 stars because I've genuinely had better croissants, BUT that's very subjective. Theirs were good and I'd be happy to have them again! Stop and grab a treat on your scenic drive up the coast!

Huge Cinnamon roll

Another local place in the Kaanapali area. The cinnamon rolls were really good. No need to wait in line at Papi's Ohana. We also had the option to eat these delectable pastries right by the ocean.

Banana bread and chocolate croissant

We were staying nearby and hubby picked up a few things from here and it was all delicious. We got the banana bread, cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant, avocado toast and breakfast toast with eggs.

Berry cheesecake

Food: 4.9/5 Service: NA/5 Value: 4.7/5 Stopped by and was mesmerized by their berry cheesecake, and oh my goodness it didn't disappoint. If you're ever around here, would STRONGLY recommend the cheesecake. The cheesecake is thick, the crust is even thicker, and the berry glaze adds a nice sweetness that's not too sweet while there are whole blueberries inside to add just a touch of tanginess to some of the bites you take. We loved it so much we came back a second time close to closing but they were out of the cheesecake already. What a bummer but glad I got to experience it once.

Display case of beautiful pastries.

The pastries on display in the cases all looked delicious and screamed EAT US. I succumb easily to pastry pressure so we got a brownie and a piece of coffee cake (blueberry). The brownie was ooey and gooey with crispy edges. I am not a chocoholic so one bite was good enough for me, though warm and topped with a scoop of ice cream would have been amazing. The coffee cake was oddy devoid of flavor and not something I'd order again. Staff wasn't particularly helpful but maybe it's because they were busy and only had two people behind the counter. The empanadas looked good and I could be persuaded to go back and try them. But I think I'll skip the sweets.

Clearly I was sold at fresh sourdough, they sell individual rounds, fresh from the oven and even better with local honey and butter. We also snagged a few empanadas to heat up throughout the week with a side of cheesecake, so all in we were pretty happy with our first try of Pau. The staff are friendly and the vibe is welcoming.

Located about a mile down from the Times market on Lower Honoapiilani Rd in Kaanapali this little gem I found by chance and SO thankful I did; coincidentally it is located right next to Bad Ass coffee. Pau is Italian owned and Italian operated and I don't think of the several times that I visited did I encounter any one of the staff who didn't have an Italian accent. Pau was amazing in every way; the quality of the coffee, the expertise in which it was prepared and friendliness of the staff. Let's not also forget the quality of their unbelievable pastry selection and empanadas. I could sit there all day and eat the empanada's; I only sampled the chicken and beef and both were equally delicious!! . Go online and take a look at their menu as they have other options as well regarding food to eat for breakfast etc. Now I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I have been to Bad Ass coffee on previous visits before and I absolutely have no idea why people continue to wait in long lines at Bad Ass when in my opinion Pau's quality and service is far superior... it can't be because of price as a 12 ounce latte with a double shot of espresso is only $5.50 at Pau. I honestly feel you will not regret giving ' this little slice of Italy' a shot and when you do I think there's a good chance you'll be hooked liked I am. "Also make sure you get there fairly early and grab a warm fresh baked loaf of sourdough bread...SO GOOD" They open at 7am and close at 2pm... small parking area but a a lot of people coming and going so it's pretty easy to grab a spot.

It is an Argentinian run family business it seems. We tried the pau vegan empanadas. were delicious. I tried one first and then ordered two more. The guy that took our order gladly charged us just the difference of the amount we paid for one. One is 7.25 and 3/20.00.

I love to explore neighborhoods when I travel and we were in the Honokowai area of Lāhainā taking in the beautiful ocean views from the Honokowai Beach Park and noticed Pau Bakery across the street. Well they had me at Bakery, great small establishment filled with fresh baked goods packed full of flavor. Some seating inside but essentially a grab and go place. Staff is very friendly and helpful, offering free samples as you peruse the cases filled with both sweet and savory treats as well as mini cakes. Decided to pick up a few sweet items and went with the cinnamon rolls, the coffee cake and the bread pudding. The savory case was filled with house made empanadas of various proteins and vegetables, they looked amazing but figured will have to return for those since we were heading out for the day and had no way to keep them until we got back to the resort. The cinnamon roll was very good, the perfect amount of sweetness combined with cream cheese to make the ultimate icing, and it's not drenched in icing so the ratio of dough to icing was spot on. They are good sized so you could actually share it and still feel like you weren't shorted of deliciousness. The coffee cake was prepared with blueberries and had a streusel type topping, cake was light and flavorful. The bread pudding was tasty, dense and not too sweet, we tried a few bites but will enjoy it more when we get back to our resort and can warm it up a bit. All and all it was a great find in a quiet little beachfront neighborhood. Great place to pick up fresh bakery to have with your coffee in the morning's while taking in the fresh ocean air and the sounds of the waves bringing that Maui zen. Well done Pau Bakery, I will be back to try your savory empanadas next Mangiamo e dulce tutti. Ciao

I went in for the Empanadas and they did not disappoint. I have been back a second time already. Highly recommend, hot or cold. They have so many other good offerings, you are literally spoiled for choice for breakfast and lunch. Highly recommend and the staff are so friendly ad service is quick. I just need another week to try more items. Enjoy.

We got to Pau around 8am on a Thursday morning and only waited about 10-15 minutes to order and get our food. We ate across the street at the park which was nice. They have a pretty big menu from breakfast and lunch sandwiches, to empanadas, to sweets and pastries. Good coffee menu also. Great experience overall.

Beef empanada meh
Todd M.

Came for the empanada. Just a tad disappointed. The place was fully stocked on them. Maybe I got the wrong one. I got the beef. Not so flaky. No flavor in the filling. Also had to wait about 10 minutes for the thing. Staff is great though!

The largest and most delicious cinnamon roll that I have ever had in my life! Papi's Ohana in West…read moreMaui is very popular for a reason! If you want to really get your hands on their cinnamon rolls (and any of their other delicious pastries), you absolutely have to get to their location early at or before 6:00 AM and wait in line for them to open at 7:00 AM. The staff will take coffee and drink orders while you are sitting or standing around. For my first attempt, I saw there was already a huge long line that was wrapping around near the sidewalk so I gave up knowing that it might take 1 hour or more just to get to the front of the line and even then, no guarantees they would have anything left given just how popular these cinnamon rolls are! Sometimes I don't quite understand the hype but it is what it is. On my second attempt, yes I did make it to their location by 5:50 AM, found parking at their small on-site lot and yes there was already a line out the door but at that time I think it seemed more manageable and I liked my chances of getting my hands on their aforementioned large delicious cinnamon roll. And just like that, more and more people started showing up and the staff at one point had to curve the line so it wasn't overflowing onto the sidewalk. There are lots of wonderful bible verses on the interior walls which made for wonderful vibes. The staff and owners are absolutely wonderful and the wait was ultimately worth it. When it was all said and done, yes I definitely loved the large cinnamon roll! It's all made from scratch. I think this should be on the Guinness Book of World Records for largest cinnamon roll. Would I go again during the next time I am in Maui? Maybe and ultimately it would come down to which region I am staying in. If I'm already staying in West Maui, yes it would be more worthwhile instead of driving all the way from places like Kihei in South Maui (that's like a 40+ minute drive one-way).

So nice we had to come twice! My wife and I visited Maui on our honeymoon and saw so many great…read morereviews about sale Pepe so we decided to try it out. We got a reservation on the 2nd night of our trip and loved it so much that we came back on the 3rd night lol. Here's what we ordered: Focaccia (2x): May be one of our most favorite appetizer breads we've ever had, so delicious and warm with just the right amount of salt on top. The view of the puffed up focaccia is a reason to order in itself. Pair with the Caprese stracciatella! Caprese stracciatella (2x): A different take on traditional Caprese but was delicious, the mozzarella curds worked so well with the tomatoes. Everything was fresh and we loved using as a dip with the foacaccia. Calabrese piccante (1x): I ordered this the first night and it was great! The dough that they use is a game changer and would recommend any of their pizzas simply to try their dough. It is very close to the focaccia and we highly recommend. The Calabrese is pretty spicy, just a heads up. Alfredo tagliatelle (1x): *not pictured* My wife ordered this the first night but was not a huge fan. The Alfredo was more buttery than creamy and just wasn't super memorable. Bufala margherita (1x): My wife ordered this the second night and loved it! The dough was amazing and the buffalo cheese made such a difference. She did not that it could have used a pinch of salt on top but otherwise was delicious Lasagna (1x): I almost didn't order this the second night because I was going to split a pizza but thought to myself, "When in Rome.." This truly was one of the best lasagnas I've ever had, I'm so glad I changed my mind and got it. The pasta was fresh with the cheese and beef. It was so good! Would recommend to anyone and everyone who comes, my favorite dish out of all of them. Overall, a great vibe and great food. Servers were all nice and even gave us a complimentary glass of champagne for our honeymoon. Will be back if we are ever on Maui again!
