Love this new spot!! Went here twice and it was so yummy and fresh. We got the beef empanada as well as the corn and cheese empanada. Overall the corn and cheese was my favorite - get it warmed up!! Also got the avocado toast twice. So simple but such good flavors. I would prefer if the tomatoes were roasted. The sourdough is fantastic next time we plan to buy a whole loaf. My husband got the breakfast toast and added avocado. He said it was good but definitely needed the avocado. Service was friendly and the store is cute. They could add a couple more tables. It's so nice to have a new bakery available on the West side of Maui next to Bad Ass Coffee in Honokowaii. We made at least 3 visits. This is a small space more grab and go then sit and linger. Our favorites were the empanadas. So many flavors. We got at least 2 dozen while there as they make for a nice breakfast or lunch to reheat. The French inspired pastries were beautiful. We tried both a plain and almond croissant. I dont know how they do it in the humid environment but those croissants are crunch on outside and soft and buttery inside. The almond had such a beautiful flavor but wasn't weighed down by heavy almond paste. They also have a variety of sandwiches available on French bread or croissant. Their espresso is so smooth. Service can be slow and some items can go fast so dont give up on them. They are worth the wait and we will make this a regular stop on our annual visits. read more

My family member is gluten-free and LOVED the treats here. It is always a trouble for someone with celiac to find places that are cautious enough with the food and also have tasty options. Pau Bakery is just that. They also went out of their way to change gloves and wash the spatula to care for cross-contamination. I myself have gotten the banana bread and almond croissant, and definitely reccomend the croissant. The Argentinian owners were commited to understanding and getting our orders right. We were greeted when we walked in with a hello and the delicious display of baked goods. We ordered a lilikoi bar, cinnamon roll, blueberry muffins, and chicken & beef empanadas. Every thing was delicious. The bar was tart and I really loved it as I did not expect that. The cinnamon rolls were soft. The empanadas were full of flavor. Absolutely delicious hidden gem here. We stumbled in while waiting for coffee next door and were greeted by warm bakery smells and delicious pastries. We got lucky and scored cinnamon rolls which were absolutely delicious and melted in your mouth. We also grabbed some beef empanadas for breakfast along with a tiramisu and balcarce cake both which were highly recommended from the staff. I came here everyday for six consecutive days for my savory breakfast fix as it's next to my favorite coffee shop - Bad Ass Coffee. Their sandwiches are made to order so you get hot, great tasting eats. Their beef empanadas, though small, are packed with flavor. As for their pastries, I thought they were just okay. Great little bakery! We walked here from our hotel and were definitely hungry by the time we ordered. There was a short line and by the time we got there, not all menu items were available. We ended up ordering an assortment of items to cover us a few days: Cinnamon Roll Almond croissant Breakfast toast Lilikoi bar Sourdough bread Beef empanada Spinach & cheese empanada Everything was so good. Our favorite item was definitely the breakfast toast. The eggs were amazing! So soft and fluffy. Great consistency and it tasted really good too. Walked into this bakery toward the end of opening and there was thankfully no line. Debated going to Papi Ohana's down the street, but heard they run out of inventory sometimes. Ordered the cinnamon roll and the banana bread here. So disappointed to say both were aggressively mediocre. Maybe it was because the pastries weren't as fresh as the start of the day? Tried for a cinnamon roll at Papi's but the wait was easily over two hours so we went to Pau and got a cinnamon roll and pistachio croissant. Hold out for Papi's if you want a cinnamon roll. Came looking for croissant but ended up with a cinnamon roll. Thought it was gonna be sweet but it's actually more milky than sweet. It's a pleasant surprised and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The cinnamon roll isn't pastry soft, it's slightly more bagel soft, meaning it had a bit of a chew to it --if you're into that. Traditional cinnamon rolls, you get the sugar/cinnamon roll goo but you don't get it here. Guess the milky glaze makes up for it. It's pretty filling. So try when you're in the area. read more

This place was an amazing find! The service is great, the staff is so kind and patient. They have a tasty amazing of sweet pastries and savory treats too (reminded me a little of Porto's back in Southern California). We had a beef empanada, a cinnamon roll, alfajores and coffee. All of it was amazing! The baked empanada was my favorite but everything was so good. First of all amazing cinnamon roll, initially we went to papi's but the line was too long so we ended up here and were not disappointed. The cinnamon roll was delicious and everything you want to be! Coffee was also delicious. The only bummer was I saw that they had Ube syrup and so I tried asking to have some of it in my latte but I don't think the person at the cash register, or the barista next to her knew what Ube syrup was and so even though I could see it behind the counter, I never got any in my latte. Everything looked delicious when we entered, it was clean and inviting as well. My hubby ordered the cinnamon roll, which they warmed up for him and it smelled heavenly, he said it was just good, not great. I spied a Lucious looking fruit tart nestled in amongst other tempting treats, and ordered that for myself, eager to take my first bite. Well, what a disappointment that turned out to be! It had obviously been stored uncovered in their walk in, so it had absorbed that stale taste things can get if not properly wrapped. The fruit looked MUCH better than it tasted. My wife and I have been here twice and loved it both times. The first time we got the chicken, ham and cheese, and spinach empanadas. Delicious! The only thing missing, which I told the staff, was chimichurri sauce. That would make the already wonderful empanadas taste even better. To finish that meal we got the balcarce cake, which was amazing. It's a sponge cake with dulce de leche, nuts, cream and Italian meringue. At our next meal here we had the smoked salmon sourdough toast, with a large helping of smoked salmon, sliced avocado, a sunny side up egg, and sprouts. It was great and filling! For dessert, we had a chocolate alfajor. I loved having alfajors when I visited Argentina and the alfajors here are as good as anything you'll get in Buenos Aires. The staff are very friendly and the ambiance chilled and relaxing. The price is reasonable by Hawaii standards. Definitely a place I'll be returing too. read more

I haven't left a yelp review in years but im happy to leave one for this gem, pau bakery. The sourdough bread is so delicious, and the mushroom avocado toast is the reason ill be going back. The menu says it comes with a hard boiled egg but the cashier said I could have the egg any way I wanted it so I got it over medium and it was perfection. The mushrooms with the avocado, cream cheese and egg was the best combination and it was absolutely delicious. I had a lychee lemonade as well as their empanadas. So good. Make sure you get the chimichurri dip for the empanada. The chicken was my favorite. Such a great addition to the west side of Maui. Ill be back. read more
