My wife's Toyota was making a weird noise after starting. Took it to B&A Auto and they found the problem but they couldn't fix it, so they referred her to Pat's Auto Electric. Note: the shop is in the back of Moon Garden restaurant and may be hard to find. Also, hours are from 8:30AM to 5PM. Pat may seem grumpy at first, but he's just very direct. He knows what he's talking about, takes the time to answer all your questions, and gives you straight up answers without any unnecessary pleasantries. He will give you an honest assessment and not try to rip you off with services you don't need. What we learned is that Toyota "quality" doesn't really exist anymore in it's pursuit to be the No. 1 automaker in the world. What caused the problem and the bulk of the labor cost was a defective $5 bolt. According to Pat, he is seeing more occurrences of these types of problems. We are not getting a Toyota for my wife's next car for sure. But, if there are any additional problems, we would not hesitate to go to Pat's again. Very highly recommended! read more

Overdue review; hopefully Pat is still doing well. I went to him for a gear shift problem (I believe) in my corolla 1-3 years ago. He was honest and saved me money by installed a component that HE MADE; based on his experience the damaged is due to the nut of the wire, rather than the wire itself. So instead of replacing the wire (which would cost 3x as much), he took upon himself to replace the actual damaged part. So far, no problems occurred. read more

Pat did an excellent job of trouble shooting our Buick windows. Because he is able to find and use a wiring diagram he was able to locate a ground fault and made an easy repair. Pat is honest and knowledgeable. I have taken my car to him many times as well as multiple family members. If he can fix it he will and if there are better options, he will let you know about them. I called him regarding a starter issue and he said he could likely fix it but that it also sounded like an issue that had a recall and to call servco. Sure enough he was right and he saved me literally hundreds of dollars in repairs. He works hard and gets things done pretty fast. He's knowledgeable about cars and maybe most importantly he's an honest man. He won't try to sell you on replacing a whole bunch of stuff like other mechanics will. He will tell you what is wrong or what he thinks is wrong, he will tell you what needs to be repaired and what things could wait a while, and then he does what he says. If something unexpected comes up he'll call you and give you your options. Pat runs one of those businesses that when he decides to retire, I will drop my head in sadness and defeat. It's a neighborhood business that truly gives its customers care and attention without the fear of being ripped off. Pat is honest, reliable, and knows what the heck he doing. Dr. House Pat is the Dr. House of mechanics ! By just listening to what I said about my car (check engine light and starting problems) he was able to come up with a diagnosis. Like any good doctor, we're both waiting to see if there are any other symptoms that develop, before we decide to operate. My Son's Toyota Truck was killing batteries (major short circuit) left and right. I could not figure out what was the problem and was referred to Pat's Auto Electric on N. Vineyard Blvd. by a friend. I called Pat on Wednesday and got an appointment on Thursday (really quick). We dropped the car off first thing in the morning and it was finished and repaired by 2:30 pm that same day. Pat was very thorough and explained in great detail what he found and how he fixed it. He is also very affordable and ensured we were satisfied with his work. Complete FLAKE and disorganized. Was referred to Pats by B&A Auto (very well reviewed) because B&A do not tackle timing chain replacements. Called Pats who said he would do it and it's 100k regular maintenance no problem. Asked me to bring my truck in so he could look at it and set up an appointment. Was surprised to see that the shop is just a hole in the wall and the shop itself isn't a full fledged shop. No lifts, etc. Just a floor jack and small stands. I don't think my truck could even fit in there. He looked it over in the parking lot for 10 seconds, got the mileage/truck info, looked up some info in his garage, said he would do it all. We scheduled for Monday at 8:30. I was a bit nervous after seeing the shop but checked the reviews here as well and saw that he was extremely well reviewed albeit only with 5 reviews) so I decided to roll with it. Called Friday to ask about dropping it off earlier because he is not open on weekends and I had to be at work 30 minutes before he opened. Somebody answered the phone who asked me for my truck info. Puzzled I reminded the person that we had an appointment set up for Monday morning. He then said he wasn't actually Pat, but his brother. Said to just drop the truck off whenever and slide the key under the door and that Pat would take care of it Monday morning. Went there Sunday morning, the parking lot was locked, there was no legal street parking so I parked the truck a block over on a residential street. Went to the door and there was no space to slide a key under so I put the key in a locking combination case attached to the trailer hitch on the back of the truck and noted the address. I went to work and a few minutes before 8:30 AM, called up Pat who answered. Gave him the address of the truck, and combination to the trailer hitch lock for the key to the truck. He said he did not know where the street was (It's the closest cross street!). Asked me what truck this was and who I was. What! We had made an appointment for my truck to be serviced today. Then he told me that he would have never told me to park it on the street. I explained to him that somebody else answered his phone claiming to be his brother. Then he proceed to tell me that he was too old to go and find my truck (I gave him the address and explained exactly where it was parked, barely a block away). Told me he didn't have time to deal with this and did not want to do the work, then hung up on me. I'm without my truck today which is a huge hassle and it's not even getting the work done that was agreed upon. What the hell? So Pissed off! read more

Like others, I was referred to Pat from B&A automotive. I had the dreaded "service engine soon" light and rough idling. B&A did the OBD code check and found something wrong with cylinder #1. Took it over to Pat at 8:20, and described the code and symptoms. Like others, I did not find Pat to be the friendliest person at the start. No matter: when I want surgery I don't pick the surgeon based on personality. 5 hours later I got the call from Pat, who, this time, was very chatty and described their troubleshooting process and that it was indeed #1 cylinder's coil. For not having an appointment I thought this was pretty timely. Cost was a little over $400, with the bulk being labor. While I think the charges were pretty reasonable, it could have been better. Nevertheless, it sure beats waiting until December 22nd for the appointment with the dealer. Definitely recommending Pat for auto electrical issues. On Mondays he has extra help so that helps the timeliness of the repairs on that day. read more

Pat is a no-nonsense, get it right the first time, kind of guy. He does not waste your time, does not blow smoke up your backside, and gives it to you straight. I had an electric issue with my Highlander, took it to the dealer, and they had it for a day and told me it was a bad connection in my radio. They said they fixed it, but on the way home the same problems occurred. I took it to Pat, and he told me from the get-go, he may not be able to find the issue, but after a couple hours he called with the news. He replaced the needed part, and ran it for over 30 minutes to make sure the problem was fixed. Really appreciated his candor and attitude, kind of guy you want to grab a beer with. Went here after my check engine light was on kinda on & off for months on end. Took it to B&A Auto first, since they thought it was electrical they sent me to Pat and he checked out everything right away and said he'd need another day to look at it. On my appointment day I dropped it off and he quickly called me within a half hour to say he coudn't find anything wrong with the car but he'll do a full check. After that he said he couldn't find anything and that it'd be NO CHARGE. I was amazed by that statement. I gave him a tip though cuz I felt like he did a great job of informing me of what might be wrong and what to look for in the future. He's a very honest and blunt guy so listen up when he's talking. I would gladly give Pat's Auto Electric ten(10) stars if possible. Initially an auto parts place sold me a replacement product that I could replace myself. The customer service rep related that it's a universal product, and all I have to do is solder the wires/etc.; easy. After purchasing the product, I felt it would be best for an auto mechanic to do it for me. Was referred to an auto electric repair place after two auto repair places declined to do it for me. The auto electric repair place I went to before Pat's place would not give me a cost estimate (just how much they charged per hour) nor a guarantee that the problem will be resolved. I had to make an appointment to have the problem checkout (costly). At home, I decided to check out Yelp auto electric reviews, and subsequently decided to go to Pat's Auto Electric (no appointment made) for a second opinion. To my surprise Pat spent at least fifteen minutes checking my auto, and quickly resolved it. :) :) :) Only a FUSE had to be replaced, and I was only charged me $5. I offered to pay Pat more....he refused. I highly recommend seeing Pat at his auto shop before making a final decision. Maybe you'll feel as happy as I felt today. :) read more

Pat's Auto Electric is located in the back of some Chinese restaurant on Vineyard. He owns a small shop and checks your car in the parking lot. I was referred to Pat by Chik's Auto Air to get my radiator fan issue checked since it seemed to be more of an electrical problem. Anyways, reviewing my experience: Pat isn't the most pleasant person to speak to at first, almost seems rude, but he is one of the few people who actually listens to your concerns without trying to make a quick buck. He checked out my car for free. Problem was checked and problem was solved. Also, he answers any questions that you may have and explains it in layman's terms without that mechanic jargon. If you're ever in doubt of paying outrageous prices for auto repairs at the dealership, then Pat is one of the few people you can go to and trust for a second opinion. read more

'check engine' was on for about 3 mos. (I disregarded it)....finally, when my truck started acting slugggish & stuttering during acceleration, took it in to Pat's....(been there before---check previous review)...he had an idea but wanted to be 100% sure. he made it like it was his personal determination to find out what's wrong...after couple hours of thorough diagnostics, he said it was the spark plugs on cylinders 1 & 3...replaced them all just to be safe & ended up ONLY billing me for the plugs AND a reasonable cost for labor!! wow, what a deal! read more

Pat was able to help with my check engine light dilemma. There were multiple error codes that he found confusing. After asking a few questions, he suspected previous attempts to fix the problem triggered the error codes. He reset the car computer and asked me to return a week's time to see if the same codes came up. Another code was triggered which made better sense to him. Long story short, he was able to fix the problem. Knowledgeable, reasonable and willing to take the time to explain what he was doing--all good things to running a good business and educating his customer.
