8/30/24. My coworker highly recommended Mobotech when my Dodge Durango overheated on my way to work. So I checked out Mobotech Auto on Yelp, and it had a rating of 4.9!!! So I called, and Vic answered, and initially he didn't have any room, I was a little disappointed. I needed my SUV repaired because it was my only means of transportation. Then he said to call back at 6 pm, and hopefully, some cars will be picked up, and there should be some room. I called back and he had room for me! So I called roadside assistance. Long story short, the tow truck didn't show, so I called Vic, and he said no problem, tow it in tomorrow after 10 am. So I got it towed into the shop. Vic greeted me, and I explained what happened, and he basically told me he got it and will text me with updates. Not even 30 minutes later, I got a text with what needed to be done (with a video!) and a printed estimate. Then they discovered something else needed repairing and sent me pictures and videos and an updated estimate. I gave the approval, and it was done by the same day I dropped it off! I didn't pick it up till the next day because I couldn't get a ride to the shop. So after work, I picked up my Durango. Talked story with Vic for a bit and was on my way, a Happy and Satisfied customer. Vic just made things work out. I appreciated the frequent updates with pictures and videos and a screenshot of the estimate. Friendly and professional. He paid attention to details. He even had my SUV running with the air conditioner on, so it would be nice and cool when I got in. Drove home and the ride felt like it was a brand new car. Mobotech did an amazing job on a front brake pad/rotor change for my 2016 Scion iM. Long story short, the dealership service center insisted that my current brake pads were good but I noticed squeaking and shaking while coming down the Pali a few weeks back and decided that I needed to ask someone else. Turns out Mobotech was just down the road from my office so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Victar at Mobotech is so knowledgeable and easy to work with. Upon arriving and trying to explain my issues, Victar took a moment of his own time to take a drive with me and try to diagnose the issue. He then inspected the brakes and recommended only replacing the front brake pads and rotors as these 2 wheel drive cars typically see most of the wear in the front (the dealership was already insisting I change all 4 pads and rotors which would have been very expensive). Victar then explained to me the part options and per his recommendation I went with slightly costlier but more reliable and tested parts. Even though their schedule looked pretty booked, he managed to squeeze in the job at the beginning of the next week. I dropped my vehicle off at 9am and it was finished and test driven by lunch time. No more squeaks, no more shaking, and incredibly grippy brakes. One of the things I appreciate the most is how Victar sends updates and progress pictures for the work that they do, ensuring that the money you put down towards parts and labor are going towards good work. TL/DR: Victar and the Mobotech team are reasonable, do quality work, and I highly recommend them for your next repair or servicing. Brooo..best kept secret in town! A good sized shop I'm the middle of Kalihi. Yea, I know, kinda tight residential streets getting there but trust me..worth checking out. Vic was accommodating, super fair, and very professional. I had a thumping noise coming from the rear of my car. I recently had my rims resurfaced for cosmetic repairs and my car was perfectly fine prior to that. Long story short, I dropped my car off with Vic and he videoed the inspection and texted to me what he found. Turned out one of the rims was loose!! Sooo dangerous! He tightened all 4 times and said it was good to go. So how much was this simple fix? He says he wouldn't even know what to charge. Just enough for lunch, he laughed. My car broke down this morning on the freeway on my way to work around 8am was able to get my car into the shop by 11am. (It took a couple hours of getting my car towed by FSP to a random park from the freeway and then to get it towed to the shop) But once it was there, Victor told me what the problem was and he fixed it within an hour and I was ready to get back on the road. I am a female that knows very little about cars and car maintenance, but I know that it is important to take care of your car if you want it to last. I have called Vic (the owner) twice to help me with my CRV, and each time he has been knowledgeable and kind. I very much appreciate that he sends a short video of what issues are going on, I feel like it totally solidifies and justifies the work that needs to be done, oil leak...broken part...yes, thank you for showing me and not just randomly adding things to the to-do list. Years ago, a friend of mine offered to change my car's headlight bulbs for me rather than bringing it into a garage or dealership. During that time, I watched my friend complete the task and mention it is a tedious job taking a couple of hours. Rather than saving the money, I figure let me just have a professional do it for me this time around. Earlier this summer, one of my lights died after all these years and I wanted to get it done before returning to work this past October. It wasn't an urgent matter as the other side was still working, and my fog lamps also worked for night time driving. With the help of Yelp, I searched for a mechanic who could replace a pair lightbulbs. There were several garages in the Honolulu area with perfect 5 star ratings. I inquired with one business, got a quote. But after I asked for when I could come in for an appointment, I stopped receiving messages. I inquired with Mobotech, got a prices quote, but couldn't get a guaranteed time and date. The text messages stopped again. As a last resort, I tried asking another friend who is dating a mechanic. Same consultation, got a price quote, yet I still couldn't get a time and date. I guess maybe Mechanics must be a high demand job as many people seek a professional to fix, repair, or just get second or third opinions on all types of car jobs at the last minute. For some reason, my instinct was to get back to Mobotech because it seemed to me that I got the most promising job compared to the others. I was able to make a solid appointment on a day off that I was set on, first day of the work week, first time slot of the morning. Dropped it off, and within 3 hours I get a text telling me that my car was finish. For parts and labor, I feel like I paid the going price. Should my light bulbs wear off, the owner will back it up with a warranty! The mechanic complimented on how top shape I've kept my car, pointing out how low my mileage is. After failing to find a single shop willing to help, I showed up at Mobotech because of the great Yelp reviews and Vic was so kind and understanding. He was able to get us in that afternoon. His team did super quality work, replacing front and rear pads and rotors. In addition, he noticed our missing passenger mirror and replaced it. Because it didn't take much effort to attach the new mirror. He didn't charge any labor for that repair. That kind of service and honesty is so rare nowadays.
