Great burger and chicken Milanese. We walked in on a Saturday night at 6:15 with a 6:30 reservation and were promptly seated. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff and waiter. The food was delicious! Hubby had the beef burger with cheddar, cooked perfectly and the flavor was great. I had the chicken with a light pasta that was perfect. It needed salt but it and the vegetables were seasoned perfectly and made up for the lack of seasoning on the chicken. The chicken was flavorful though. read more

We had an early dinner at 5PM. The food was just ok. We ordered calamari for the appetizer and it was tepid at best. We asked for additional sauce and the waiter brought it out about 10 minutes later, but we had already finished with our appetizer. Ironically, the side of sauce was piping hot as I dipped the last piece of calamari. We ordered the John Ford beef burger. The burger was hot and fresh, but it was underwhelming for $18. The meat was spectacular (thank you to John Ford Ranch in Willits) but the rest was very basic, but the correct temperature. The fries were hot, but overfried which left them slightly greasy. Overall, I give the food 3 stars for this visit. Where the evening went wrong was the bill. The bill came and the $18 burger became a $19.50 burger with the addition of a slice of cheddar cheese. There was a service fee for having used my credit card of almost $3. My son's basic lemonade was $8 (while strangely my diet coke was a reasonable $3.50). Finally, they had added a "kitchen staff" gratuity of 3.5% to the entire bill (for our party of 2). These additional "extras" on the bill added up to almost $15 which would have represented a 25% gratuity on the $60 worth of food and drink we ordered.... except that left nothing for our waiter so we were expected to add a gratuity on top of that. For two burgers and an appetizer, no alcohol or desert, the bill with gratuity was almost $90...... We won't be back anytime soon if this is how you nickle and dime your customers. read more

Dinner at Patrona last night. Party of 6. Here's just the facts.. Servers were friendly and efficient My pear martini was REALLY good. Everyone else shared red wine which they liked Five of us shared 2 desserts, crepe brûlée and chocolate torte, both really really good. My burger was a tiny amount of over cooked meat in a large bun, had ordered medium. Fries ok but a little overdone. The rest is what I was told.. Veggie burger-ok. Not great Lacquered tofu-fine Beet salad-really good. And it was a generous portion and looked really good too. Other 2 people didn't comment. I probably wouldn't return for a meal. Good fresh chili Pacific cod. We enjoyed that and a roasted half chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken tasted good, with a nice sauce and good seasoning. The wine list produced an amazing Edmeades Pinot Noir that was rich, smooth, and not overbearing. I really wanted to give this place more stars! Ambience, aesthetic, menu.... just on those it's a 5 Star Place. The options for food were great, the kids teriyaki and rice was spectacular. Unfortunately, service was terrible. We were rushed during dinner. Asked if we wanted to look at dessert just as we received our food and never checked in on us. Our raviolis we're cold and not filling. There were fruit flies everywhere, in our food, in our drinks. We finally found our server and asked for bread, the reaction we got was as if we had asked for a ride home- strange and inconveniently rood. It was really cold and the music was really loud- and I'm young so that means it was actually loud. They sat us at a table for 6 and we were only a party of 3. The rest of the restaurant was pretty much empty. We got our bread and it was foamy and dry like little bland bricks and we were charged extra for it. No butter or anything to go with it either. I really wanted to like this place and seriously wanted to give this place a good review. The only reason I'm giving it the bad review that I am is because if I were the owner I'd want to know. Had a poor experience at Patrona yesterday. Four of us had dinner. The drinks were good and the appetizers we really good though small (Brussel sprouts and calamari). That's the reason for the two stars. Aside from quick delivery of our food, the service was poor. Not particularly crowded yet our waitress was mostly nowhere to be found. The dinners were poor: flatbread pizza was covered in a mountain of arugula, two orders of a cold shrimp salad which both people thought was small for the money and a watery seafood pasta. To top it off we had crème brûlée for dessert and it was cold. Clearly prepared hours before. With tip it was over $200. I will not be going back there. read more

I would give it 5 stars except for the fact that in very small print at the bottom of the menu they state there is 3.5% tip charge for the chef and 3% charge for credit card use. For an appetizer, we ordered the CALAMARI. Unfortunately, this dish was rather disappointing. The fish wasn't too fresh, and some pieces weren't even breaded. Also, it was drenched in this sweet orange sauce that overpowered the flavor of the calamari completely. Overall, this dish was a neon orange, overly-sweet, sticky, soggy mess. For my main, I ordered the RAINBOW TROUT, and it was delicious. The fish was rich, fresh, and cooked perfectly; it was slightly crispy on the edges but melt-in-your mouth tender in the middle. The sautéed veggies underneath the fillet were fresh and bursting with flavor. There were pan fried potatoes on the plate as well which added a deliciously comforting taste. My friend ordered the special CHINESE CHICKEN SALAD, and she enjoyed it. There was nothing particularly special about it, but she said it was satisfying nonetheless. My other friend ordered a half-portion of the RAVIOLI of the day. I forget the specific ingredients of this dish, but overall, it wasn't very impressive. We found the ravioli to be rather bland and reminiscent of a packaged microwaved meal. It wasn't inedible, but it was very subpar. We also shared a plate of the BLACK EYED PEA SALAD, and it was delectable. The peas had wonderfully fresh flavors that were complemented perfectly by the light but pungent dressing. This was a lovely refreshing dish. Our meal wasn't all disappointing, and it's certainly a great restaurant for such a small town as Ukiah. Stopped in for a quick bite on our way up to Humboldt County. We are always on the lookout for restaurants that offer gluten free options. We came across this gem of a place. Ambiance was trendy, original, and also a bit romantic. We ordered the Pressed Cuban sandwich on a gluten free bun and garlic fries. Very tasty! Our server was very attentive and very helpful with my diet needs. We will definitely be stopping in there again. Would love to try dinner there. read more

Had a nice dinner tonight. This is our second time here. The place is nicely decorated and clean. The waitress was very friendly and with the most repect-cute. She was attentive and very senstive with my dietary needs (gluten and egg whites). I did notice they were clear on the menu what items were gluten free (some upon request). Even with that the waitress went back to check on ingredients for me. My date had a burger and I ordered a chicken alsatian with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My food (the alsatian) was amazing! I was told the burger also great. So far, every time we have come our food has been satisfactory. Unfortunately their were no desserts I could have- although our waitress was quick to mention fruit and whip cream as an alternative-I appreciate her thought and quickness to the dessert ideas. Quite nice food, bad manager. Hope the owner will read it. We came to celebrate our friend's birthday. Manager (lady with dark hair) kept us waiting and let 3 other couples sit first. Later she invited us inside (because there were no more tables available outside as 3 couples were seated out of line), the table was in a dark corner, we explained we were celebrating and would prefer a better option, no attention was paid. 5 min later the other table next to the window became available, but manager refused to move us there, despite the fact we only got menus and didn't order yet. As manager was not able to explain the descent reason, she simply suggested to call the owner, who she said "was on vacation" (now I think we should have asked to call). No-one during the evening ever said "happy birthday" to our friend, or offered a happy birthday piece of dessert. At the end of the evening no dessert menu was offered. They wanted us to leave and put music very loud, it was embarrassing and very rude. It's very sad that nowadays bad service and disrespectful and indifferent attitude is explained by covid situation. I went here a few weeks ago for my birthday brunch. I was primarily attracted by the vegan brunch menu on their website, but when I got there, I was told that that was an outdated menu, unfortunately. Fortunately, there were nonetheless vegan options galore, and I got the tofu scramble, which was light but filling, and very tasty. My dairy-eating boyfriend got the huevos rancheros, which he really liked. The staff are super friendly, and I enjoyed the outdoor patio. Definitely coming back on my next trip to Ukiah!! read more

Nice looking place, but when we have to get up (after waiting 20+mins) to look for someone to take our drink order, is ridiculous. Not only that, but the rest of our visit didnt get any better. So we were the first table sat outside & waited and waited. Then another table was sat outside & they were attended to before we were. One of us finally got up from our table to go put in a drink order. The entire process took forever & we were not happy w/ our meal. Oh & again one of us also had to get up to ask for another round of drinks. Why we did it again was only because we were enjoying our company. Just ate at Patrona, it was very disappointing. It was very ordinary, it used to be more creative and tasty. They also are adding fees for credit card use now and a new fee for "kitchen fee". We asked what that was about as anyone would expect them to include using a kitchen when you eat at a restaurant. Apparently they think customers should pay a special fee since their employees are making more money in wages. Seriously, I think we already pay for that in the price of the food. It was $100 for two people with one drink and nothing special about the food. We won't be going back. read more

Best Creme Brulee in town (Ukiah) I have become obsessed with coming here for their drink of the week and the creme brulee. As for the actual food some of there appetizers are not worth the money like their croquettes 3 of them for $10. The ones we got were very bland and tasted like nothing. The rest of the food was delicious, I love and appreciate the vegetarian options. As stated before they have very good "drink of the week" and I suggest going during their happy hour for a better deal 4:30-6:30pm Warning the service can be slow for those in a rush, my boyfriend and myself are very patient. I personally understand being a server and having customers understand. I don't mind having to wait if it means getting things right. The reason I give 3 stars is the following: Slower service, high price/small portions and packed on weekends (definitely need a reservation) I dont understand how people can walk in without one and expect a table to be ready for them.. I had an awesome lunch at Patrona, definitely one of the best food places in Ukiah. I finally had time to checkout Patrona and I had a very nice experience. It's a fairly small place with a warm, intimate vibe to it. I had a specialty drink (fir & ice), an appetizer (calamari), a large plated lunch (half chicken), and a dessert (apple strudel). Everything was excellent! The service was also very good. Everyone was very nice, knowledgeable, efficient, and on top of everything. If dinner is just as consistently good the next time I visit (and I expect that it WILL be), I'll definitely bump them up to 5 stars. The sculpture with huge cattle horns protruding from big green chunks of slag glass is pretty gnarly. If you're a tall person, you definitely don't want to slip & fall on this thing or you might become a cow horn kabob! There's also a primitive sculpture of a wooden dude at the front check-in. (Or maybe it's a "she", it's hard to tell.) I don't know his story but he's a little creepy! I used to think Crush was the best in Ukiah but Patrona definitely gives them a run for their money! We had the great good fortune of joining a group for dinner here last night. John's office decided to wait till mid-January to have a holiday get together. A brilliant idea.... nice to look forward to an evening out post holiday. So this is my 2nd time here since we moved in April. [ John let slip that he has come for lunch a couple times!!-- sneaky] Seated at a long table in the center of the room, trattoria style, it wasn't long before we all had our drinks [martini's, raspberry drop, margarita ] and a few starters to share-- the crispy calamaris in an orange pepper glaze were delicious. There was a good crowd for a Wednesday night in winter. They had some delicious sounding seasonal specials-- the men mostly went for the hearty, meaty dishes-- Lamb shank, pot roast, steak and the women seemed to go for the fish & chicken! I couldn't resist ordering the Cioppino with fresh dungeness crab, muscles, clams, calamari & shrimp. The bread baskets were kept full of house made bread, the winter salad of pear, gorgonzola & walnuts on greens was perfect. And after a long wait [ about 10 minutes after everyone else was served] my cioppino came-- no explanation for the delay. I was very pleased with my dish... full of plump delicious seafood, the broth was flavorful. But to be honest, my 1/2 Sicilian ex-mother-in-law's cioppino is better. Just like i think my Cassoulet & beef Stroganoff is better than any I've had in a restaurant. But I'm happy I ordered it... it's the beginning of crab season in Mendocino county & it was a nice kickoff! We all shared a dessert with our respective partner & by the way the plates were empty, they must have all been good- Chocolate torte, apple crumble, chocolate mousse in walnut crust. The tall guy and I shared an impromptu bite at Patrona tonight. We didn't have a reservation but our excellent karma (so maybe I borrowed a smidge of his) afforded us a great table in the lounge area along the brick wall (like!) under a nice dim table light. We started with the patrona margarita served on the rocks with a splash of pomegranite. Strong and tasty-- no silly mix going on here. It was fresh-made and so refreshing. We shared the calamari lettuce wraps which were excellent. Calamari was barely battered and not greasy, tossed with a sweet chili sauce. Add a squeeze of lemon-- Delicious! Next we did the tuna tartar which was served as a terrine with fresh avocado on the bottom and perfectly ripe mango on top. Simple flavors. Very fresh. No added fats or sauces. Fresh cilantro brought it all together. Our final dish was their vegetarian crepes. Those I could have lived without. Very rich. Not in-line with the other (fresher) food on their menu. No real flavor aside from cream. Not my cuppa tea. We should have ordered the beet salad. That looked really good at the table near us. Good sized wine list and full bar. Great service from both our friendly and skilled waiter and his female busser. We'll be back for sure. read more

Walked in with my girlfriend was not greeted by anyone but we did catch a few cold stairs!! Then when we ask can we get a table they looked annoyed!!! Then the hostess took us to our table I asked fir a coke she informed me that she was not able to do that for me! Like WHAT??! Then it took our server 10 plus minutes for her to greet us ....I asked if I could please Get a coke ! She had a SNOTT ATTITUDE!! And said yahhhhh like a valley girl and rolled her eyes!! My friend said the oysters were good The bread was blah The steak had no seasoning and did not taste good The pasta was beyond disgusting so I told them I did not want it so they said well what do you want to do??? Hummmm what do people normally do when you don't like the food ? they take it back!!! It's common sense!! They were beyond rude about it!!! So when we pay the bill unfortunately we didn't have exact change So she got a three dollar tip on our way out she was being super loud saying OH WOW A THREE DOLLAR TIP !!!!!!!! I have never in my life been to a restaurant where are the waitresses Are so rude!!! And then to even think she would get a good tip is ridiculous!!!! I am so greatful we came across this restaurant. It was a nice break from our long drive from Sacramento to Eureka. We dined at the restaurant for lunch. The portion, price, food and staff were all very nice. Individuals in my party ordered the following: 1. Kids pasta 2. Lamb french dip 3. Dorado special 4. Calamari poor boy sandwich The bill for lunch before taxes and tip for three adults and 1 child (yes..the restaurant is kid friendly ) was around $50. Very affordable. The decor was nice. The restaurant was very clean including the bathroom....when you are traveling through small towns you will greatly appreciate a clean establishment.
