Mike the the tech showed up, looked at the furnace and said he had to go to his van to get his tools to track down the problem. He was asked here to give me a bid on a NEW furnace NOT to fix the old one. I asked him at what point does the free estimate end and the charges begin. We talked a little more and I told him that I have 4 companies coming out to give me bids for the new furnace and he said "4 bids...you called 4 companies"? I said yes because I wanted to shop for the best price. He again said "4 bids?? Would you go to 4 different doctors to get their opinions too?" I said yes I would. He gave me a nasty look and I said thank you for coming. Goodbye. He left mumbling something and I am sure it wasn't nice what he was mumbling.

Then on the week of the install, Mike, Rhian, and Keenan were on time and stayed in communication with me throughout. They made sure everything fit and worked beautifully, walked me through everything afterward (including maintenance and answering my questions), and even cleaned up afterward-- extremely professional and helpful. They taught us more about our system than the original installer did, and they were supremely honest with high integrity. When they realized ours was a new system, they said they were not going to charge a full service fee. Further, they explained what the readings meant in terms of things we needed to worry about (far different than the other company). I feel confident about our system and servicing with Griffis. The person that came to our house for the estimate has experience with HVAC installations and performed a thorough assessment of our residence to determine the HVAC size required. The bid documents were very detailed compared to other vendors and made the decision process easier. The price of work fell in the middle of all the bids we received from other contractors. On the day of the installation, we received a text that they were on the way and everyone arrived on time. The process of removing the old equipment and replacing it with new went very well. The work took two days and the entire time, everyone was professional and respectful of our property. Drop cloths were placed to protect the floors and no construction debris was left afterward where the work was done. The conduits, pipes, wires and access holes were well crafted/positioned and look very good. Kudos to Juan and Jayden for a great job. The electrical contractor was very thorough and their work also looked great. During the entire process, the attitude of the staff was very good and the team worked well together. At the end of day 2, the new HVAC units were turned on. We were given a "walk through" of the work that was done, and what to expect. First of all, I NEVER received any instruction from the people who worked on the install and when it was completed the guy couldn't get away fast enough, I walked him to his car attempting to obtain some instruction and information how the system worked, he was in a hurry to catch ferry off the island. They left garbage behind for me to clean up. Today Wes a technician responded to a 2nd service call from me. He projected intimidation arrogance toward me a single elderly woman, he attempted to dominate the conversation not allowing me to speak my concerns, he ridiculed me, degraded me and when he started mocking me, I had had enough. I did not feel safe or comfortable around him, he told me in no uncertain words that he was tired of me wasting his and the companys time. I did report this to the owner Robby who of course defended Wes! He did say he would speak to him!

I told them that my system never kept up on hot days. They offered a bid and I thought they were totally fair on price. So we pulled the trigger. Especially helped to make my mind up as it was around 78 degrees outside the next day and the old system still didn't keep up. They gave me 2 bids and I opted for the more high efficiency bid. Jacob and Aaron arrived at the house to complete the job. My house being 100 years old, it wasn't the easiest and Jacob had to put in the O.T. to get it done. I was still skeptical that it would keep up. But this new system is actually amazing. We've already hit 90 degrees since the install and my thermostat never varied from 72 degrees where I set it. Im 100% satisfied with this company and would absolutely recommend them. Also when Aaron did the electrical, we had a light start blinking. I wasn't sure if it was from the work they did and so I called the company. Aaron came out and fixed my light and it just happened to be a random occurrence not caused by the work being done. Alex arrived at the agreed upon time (we had an arrival window of 8-11am) and proceeded to perform the job quickly and efficiently. He washed the filters outside to minimize the dust inside the house. Since the maintenance, the A/C feels a lot more potent, which is great with the high temperatures we are currently experiencing. Unfortunately concerning Pristine we were met with resistance and denial. The representative went straight to saying they shouldn't do a heat pump, due to the lack of floor insulation. This didn't make sense to us, as three other companies already reviewed the home and claimed otherwise. However the representative from Pristine seemed to not want to hear that, and after a bit of back and forth said the words "I guess we aren't the company you want to go for". They made the decision for us, which is odd considering we were only trying to purchase more than a standalone furnace. Maybe it was a miscommunication somewhere but it's clear from the rep that they didn't want our business. Edit: Further reduced score based on the reply from the company including false truths, never once did we claim that what the representative had said was "B.S." and to be clear they never said nor verified the home was insulated properly. The claimed the floors needed to be insulated, which was debunked by other companies as heat rises, and floor insulation does very little in terms of holding the homes heat. Poor response taking no real responsibility.
