My friend had to check out the Browns game because he heard it was a good Browns bar. We rolled in about 11 on Sunday, riding our bikes from the beach up the SART. It should've been a quicker ride but we got turned around and ended up on a dangerous, real busy part of Harbor Blvd., not good for biking. No real good spot to lock up at Patrick's either. I was so hungry when we got there so was disappointed to hear no kitchen. They had an ok set up for about 2 dozen pretty quiet Browns fans but was surprised they didn't have some bigger TVs. Or more TVs with the Browns game on at the other side of the bar where there were still a few seats. They had a basic, limited selection of beers but wanted to hang onto a drivers license and CC to open a tab. And $20 minimum charge. We found some open stools and sat pretty quietly with everyone else watching the game. Maybe it was so low key because the Browns were losing and not making much happen. Then halftime came and that's where Patrick's jumped to 3 stars. They brought in about a dozen Little Caesars pizzas for the crowd! Gratis! I chowed down about a full pie or more and we hit the road pretty quickly before we ended up smelling like cigarettes for the rest of the day. read more

Yup, funky little place next to a Super 8, behind the Orange Curtain. I like it though, no one hassled me the few times I've been there alone. They have good, strong drinks and nightly specials. Good tunes on the jukebox and interesting people watching. I'll be back. read more

goodness I have been remiss - should have done this awhile ago.... Patrick's Pub is a great place to kick back and relax, shoot pool - hang out with friends. First the bad Parking is a bit light - so get there early and carpool if you can. There is a decent amount for off hours but once the rush of the later evening hits - it can get full fast... Now the good 3 bar box pool tables, other assorted games and fun, great friendly bartenders, room to spread out around the bar and tables along the walls. Our APA team Ms. Cue was honored to be hosted by Patricks for a few years - they took great care of us and we like to think we took care of them too =) now I am back playing with a Wednesday team out of Patricks - the Browncoats - lets have fun! read more

Love to have a place that feels like home with all my Cleveland fan friends. The owners come in to watch the games too and are very welcoming. They let me have a raffle fundraiser for my friend when her husband died in a car accident to help raise money for her and her 5 year old. What can I say these are some stand up people. Donna the owner even threw in some things to raffle off too. The drinks are cheap and they have lots of TVs to show all the games. The bartender Kat is great too! Damn. Can't begin to guess how many years it has been since my last stop here. No reason to avoid, just not in my circle of influence. Was on the prowl with Robert and Mary and a change of place was in order. Our geographical bulls eye was within a couple miles of here and thought what the hell. Friday night 7ish and it was fairly dead save for a few old beer swilling gents. But for Harbor Blvd a very "normal" clientele. No drug deals/druggie types, with very clean restrooms and a tidy bar as well. Very chill and relaxed vibe. Both btenders were extremely attentive and cordial. By the time we were ready to split at 8:30 the professional looking billiards players were taking over. Any wimmin showing up later? Remember in Happy Gilmore where he imagines his "happy place?" Then there's the beautiful girl with beer and the midget in chaps riding the tricycle waving? This is that place for me. It was also my neighborhood bar when I lived in Costa Mesa. Despite its recent surge in popularity and younger, hipster-er crowd, it's still at the top of my list of OC dives. One of the doormen is in a wheelchair. That's badass. He and the other doorman are cool dudes. In fact, eveyone who works here is super friendly and gets to know their regulars. The bartender looks like an AYSO soccer coach I used to have, and I always want to call him "coach." But instead I just order beer. Mmmm, beer. They have SHUFFLEBOARD. Enough said. Once in a while you'll actually find people in here that are professional table shuffleboard players. Or so it seems. The jukebox is full of rock classics that will have you throwing your hands in the air while everyone else looks at you and laughs. Until "Livin' on a Prayer" comes on and they do it too. Rawk! Get a stiff drink and play a round of "Buck Hunter" or a game of darts. Or if you're feeling intense, challenge a mullet to a game of pool. They're always there, with their little pool cue carrying cases. Ready to get crazy and take your money. On St. Patrick's Day they pipe green Pabst from a keg through a cooler and dispense it for next to nothing into blue Solo cups. A nice alternative to That Newport Irish Pub that people line up to get into. Having a beer with my friends and throwing some shuffleboard at Patrick's is my Happy Place. read more

A cool local pub, they have darts shuffle board pool tables and a jukebox everything a classic bar should have, they don't have draft beer or a kitchen but they do have snacks to munch on and their bottled beer hard alcohol and awesome staff/customer service makes up for it with the accommodation of the bar games. If you really want food your walking distance by some restaurants or just Lyft/Uber it's a perfect spot between Newport and Huntington Beach and if your tired they are next to the Costa Mesa hotel is where I stayed. Being a first time customer here on St. Patty's Day I figured it's either I'll hate it or love it. Good thing the people of Patty's made it so that I'll definitely be coming around more often. There was a line, about 10 mins wait but that ensured that when my group got inside, it was NOT crowded and jam packed. The bartender was noticed us right away and we got out green beers soon after walking in. He was nice enough to give me a bead necklace :) Green beer $4 each, good deal. It's been a little while since I've been to Patrick's Pub but I seem to always be trying to round up a crew and head over on a Sunday afternoon for cocktails, pool, and of course the Wisdom of Edie. The last time I was there I started sucking down my Mandarin Sodas as fast as I could so I would have an excuse to leave the pool table and venture to the bar for another Edie joke or her hilarious Russian accented pearls of wisdom. What did I learn from Edie on my last visit: If I say I'm going golfing, I should come home with my balls smelling like I just walked 18 holes in the hot sun and not smelling of the palmolive soap they have at the Motel 6. Add Edie to the cast of characters that frequent Patrick's and you're in for an afternoon or evening of entertainment. Patrick's is one of my favorite places to hang out when I don't feel like fighting through a crowd to get a drink. I love to come here with a friend or two so we can talk, play darts or shuffleboard, and just have a good time. It tends to be my go to place if I have to walk out of someplace because it smells like throw up (*cough, cough* Goat Hill) or a sweaty armpit on a busy Friday or Saturday night. Most recently, I went on a Sunday afternoon and discovered 60 year old Edie. Oh, hell yes! I love this woman. She bartends on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays until 7. Outrageously funny! It's worth checking this place out just to see her. She's got a mouth on her that'll put a sailor to shame! Full bar, but no draft beers. read more

This is probably more of a three-star experience, but it gets the extra star because there are so few places like Patrick's in the OC: un-pretentious place to chillax and get your booze on. The bartenders were uber-friendly, taking a genuine interest in how my night was going and cracking wise throughout. There's a great mix of young to middle-aged people here. The requisite pool tables and juke boxes keep things lively. Basically, the major plusses of Patrick's are: very relaxed atmosphere, varied crowd (I won't say diverse as I didn't see anyone with any substantial amount of skin pigment there), and a friendly staff. Found out that I am SO GOOD at Darts. Oh yaaaa! This is another Costa Mesa staple. Patty's is definitely a spot I love to go when I don't feel like being in a crowded bar where I'm rubbing elbows with every Dick and Harry in the place. I don't come here a whole lot...not to the point that I would call myself a regular at all. But I've been here probably 20 times in the last couple years...more than probably any other bar I frequent....and I live 4 blocks from downtown HB so thats saying something. What I will say about Patricks is that EVERY time I've EVER come here I've been greeted by enthusiastic, happy employees and the patrons as well. It's a totally chill environment. Lots of pool tables, darts, games and a jukebox. I was turned on to this place by one of my employees who IS a regular and the people there are like extended family to her. Very cool. AND They now have happy hour. If they had hot food I'd probably be in trouble. read more

Patrick's Pub was my local for about a year when I first moved to Costa Mesa. I didn't realize quite how much time I spent there until I left for more than 2 years, returned and was greeted by the bartender, "I haven't seen you in forever!". Am I that much of a boozer? Yikes. Any place that I keep going to enough for the bartenders to remember me must be doing something right. Darts. Pool. Good smoking area. I actually enjoyed this bar I went here one night to meet up with a co-worker with a few of my friends. The place has a lot of space and they have from what I remember an old school cigarette vending machine. They also have 2 dart boards and a few booth tables to sit down in for larger parties. The bartenders seemed friendly but main thing I remember about this place is the plastic bomb cups they use for jager bombs it's freakin hilarious. It's a just small plastic dixie like see through throw away cup that has a little plastic shot glass cup formed in the center of the cup its one of the funniest things I've seen at a bar. Those cups are as trashy as it gets. My friend actually took his home cuz he thought was so amazingly stupid, and still cleans it off and reuses it all the time to look like a jack ass. read more

WATCH YOUR WALLET AND COUNT YOUR CHANGE On our first visit the female server was given a $100 bill for 2 drinks; she slapped the change back on the bar. My girlfriend happened to count the change and noted the change was $50 short. The server initially claimed we used another bill, but backed down and returned the rest of our change. We didn't think much of it and returned a couple months later to watch football. We gave the same female server $100 for two drinks again. Sure enough, my girlfriend checked the change which was $50 short again. She claimed she needed to make change and forgot, insisting it was an accident. Two visits and both times short changed by the same server. We left immediately and will not be back. I would not trust my cash or credit card in this bar. My review is not the first noting the same server short changing a customer. In another review, she is identified by name. I feel bad for the owners; she is bad for business and you have to wonder if she's stealing from customers, what other illicit conduct is she up to. By the way, Cruisers in Newport is a great bar for football with super friendly, honest servers. read more

I just moved around the corner, so Patrick's is awesome!! There's alot of people who live in the surrounding apartments that come here, including me and my roomies! not worrying about who has to drive back=amazing!! we've got our chevroLEGS to get us back! Parking sucks on the weekends, you can't park at the Sprint next door because you'll get towed. I'm not going to tell you where you can park, because I need to park there! :) We've come here at all different days and times of the week. Nice owners though Brown s fan I'm a Steelers Fan watching the Brown/ Steelers game. There were only about 50 fans so they were cattled to only half the room . With the other half of16 people getting 4 TVs with other games . Not the best place to watch the games but great prices n nice owner. read more

That atmosphere was fine for the most part. What I was annoyed about was the fact I paid $8.00 for a drink and didn't even taste the alcohol in it. I was on hiatus for one month from alcohol and thought It would be strong, but it tasted like a Shirley temple. How sad. Another deterrent... They let people smoke in the door way so the smoke just blows straight back into the bar. I left after one drink and my hair smelled like a cigarette. No fun when you have a long hair. read more
