I wish I could give zero stars.
On Thursday night, I placed an order for cacio e pepe from Pastaio through Uber Eats. Two hours later, the order still hadn't been picked up. I called the restaurant and was told that my food had been sitting there the entire time because no Uber Eats driver had picked it up. I live about 30 minutes away, and while that normally wouldn't be an issue, I was not comfortable having food sit out for two hours and then travel another 30 minutes to me. I called to cancel the order, and the woman I spoke with sounded annoyed that I wanted to cancel.
Unfortunately, I decided to give Pastaio another chance the following evening. BIG mistake.
This time, the order arrived quickly, but as soon as I opened the container, the cacio e pepe looked like mush and did not look fresh at all. I still ate it, which I deeply regret.
I woke up Saturday morning with what I believe was food poisoning, and I was extremely sick until Monday night. This was my first experience with what I believe was food poisoning, and it was very different from a typical stomach bug or flu. It was severe enough that I could barely function, and it completely ruined my Labor Day weekend.
I live with three other people who did not eat the food, and none of them became sick. Obviously, I can't say with absolute certainty that the food from Pastaio caused my illness, but the timing, the condition of the food I received, and the fact that no one else in my household became sick are extremely concerning.
After this experience, I would not feel comfortable ordering from Pastaio again. I'm also considering reporting the incident to the local health department so it can be looked into.
I would strongly recommend being cautious when ordering from here, particularly with food that may have been sitting for an extended period before pickup. read more
